A wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

Such a cosy and beautiful cottage! We had a wonderfully comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings, both in and around the cottage. Emma was great to communicate with and all the extra touches from a Welcome Tray to toiletries and luxurious beds were much appreciated. This is a lovely part of the world and as our stay was only three nights we know there is much more left to explore so we hope return one day.

"A chocolate box gem"

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, cosy property. The cottage was spotlessly clean, well maintained and very comfortable for our 3 day stay. The house book gave clear instructions on how the appliances worked and other information was good. The wood burners we lit in the evening gave a lovely warm cosy feel throughout the cottage. All the bed linen was of exceptional quality and the bedding and pillows were extremely comfortable. We were provided with lovely soaps and fluffy towels too. The owners have decorated and furnished this property with good taste and when we arrived there were lovely vases of flowers in each room. A tray of biscuits, wine and chocolates were left for us with cheese in the fridge. A lovely welcome! The owner is easily contactable if needed. We visited many attractions locally and within a 30 min drive including the Jurassic coast. Lots to see and do from this location. This is a super property to stay in and my family and I would highly recommend it.

The perfect Dorset Retreat.

  • 5 of 5

We recently took a short escape to Dorset for a few days in this most wonderful cottage.

The break started well as even before we arrived Emma was kind enough to let us know the cottage was ready early, so we could turn up earlier if we wished.

The cottage itself is without doubt the most delightful holiday property that we have ever stayed in. The attention to detail throughout the cottage is second to none, from the very welcome bottle of wine, cheese and biscuits upon arrival, through to the fresh flowers, beautiful bed linen and interior decor. It's not just beautifully decorated, but superbly comfortable and homely at the same time.

We spent our time there taking in some beautiful scenery on long coastal walks and curling up on the sofa in the evenings watching one of their large collection of films warmed by the wood burner.

We'd highly recommend this charming find.

Stunning Cottage

The cottage is absolutely beautiful providing everything we needed. Emma was extremely helpful and my wife and I loved all the little extras. We had some great meals around the area and visited Corfe Castle, Studland and Chesil Beach. Would highly recommend this gem.

Location

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

No 53 is less than 1/2 mile from Bryanston School. The school hosts Dorset Opera and the Slade School of Art Summer Programs. Popular Local attractions/activities include BBW Clay Shooting company, The Lamer Tree Gardens, Kingstone Lacy National Trust, Salisbury Cathedral, Gorcombe Farm Shop, The Tank Museum, Monkey World and Jurassic Coast. Excellently placed for walking (with good buggy access) and cycling routes. Ideal location if visiting Dorset Steam Fair and The Larmer Tree Festival of Music, The Dorset Opera.

Coast/Beach:

Within 35 minutes drive is the beautiful Jurassic Coast, including Lulworth Cove, the Poole Sandbanks beach and Shell Bay. Poole and it's enormous natural harbour and Brownsea Island are within 30 mins driving, where kite and windsurfing are very popular.

Travel:

Southampton Airport (1 hour drive) is well served by Flybe from many UK and European destinations. The closest railway station is Salisbury (30 minutes drive). Use of car makes life easier, although there are bus routes available starting from Blandford (1 mile away).

Distances:

The cathedral town of Salisbury is 30 minutes drive. The medieval town of Shaftesbury is 20 minutes drive. Further afield lie Lyme Regis and the spa town of Bath (both 1 hour's drive). London is best reached by train from Salisbury, where the journey is 80 minutes. Local attractions - National Trust Kingston Lacy, Monkey World, Hall and Woodhouse Brewery Visitors Center, Tank Museum.

Further Details:

Nearby Stourpaine (just less than 1 mile away) has a fantastic Pub, village store and Post Office, accessible by a picturesque footpath if you wish to walk. Blandford Forum (less than 10 mins drive) has several banks and 2 large supermarkets, including markets most days in the town square. If you are in search of the quintessential English country pub, the Talbot Inn at Iwerne Minster (5 miles), the Anchor at Shapwick (6 miles) and the Museum Inn in Farnham (10 miles) are highly recommended all . Milton Abbey is 10 miles away with it's wonderful Abbey and it's famous lined street of thatched cottages. Dorset is the only county in England with no motorway and lends itself to those who wish to explore either on foot or in the car. An ordnance survey map (supplied with the house) is a must if you wish to get to those areas unmarked on the larger road maps.
