About the Owner

Hi my name is Corinna and I own holiday cottage Le Moulin de Brulot.

We have just started letting the property and are proud of what we have done here.

We love the peace and tranquility here but ease of access to the golden beaches or big city shopping.

There is nothing better than spending the day shopping or by the beach to come back and relax and nobody around just peace and quiet. Bliss....

We love it here so much we want to share our little bit of heaven with others.

So for those that like to wind down from a busy working life this is the place for you and your family.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing our dream come true.

Had a great time!

  • 5 of 5

The property was excellent and well equipped - probably the best equipped of any we have stayed in. The pool and garden were fantastic for our kids ages 6 and 8. It's an hours drive to fantastic beaches but we only went a couple of times because we found some lovely lakes locally that have family activities and a "beach" (for example at Jonzac). We would also recommend for children the Chateau Enigmes which is a lovely treasure hunt around a chateau. Overall a great relaxing holiday for parents and a fun time for children!

Great house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We (2 adults and 2 boys aged 5 and 3) spent a week at Le Moulin de Brulot and really wish we could have stayed longer. As we drove down the long driveway and the house and gardens came into view our 5 year old couldn’t stop saying “Wow, wow!”. It really is a beautiful spot and exceeded our expectations.

The house is very spacious and a real home from home. Spotlessly clean with all the facilities and utensils you could possibly need. All towels are provided including for outside around the pool. Corinna provided a great welcome pack including bread, cheese, butter, ham, tomatoes, water, milk, and even a lovely bottle of red wine. Plenty of toilet rolls, kitchen roll, a drawer full of tea towels, foil, matches, tea, coffee, sugar. We went to the Super U in Mirambeau on the way in but if you had to I think you’d survive until the following day at least!

There’s loads of room for the kids to run around, play tennis and golf, and also little swings, a trampoline and sandpit. The pool is fantastic, although a little cold in the early part of the day. It was lovely to eat outside the front of the house overlooking the pond and in the evening this is where we’d catch the last of the sun.

On the way back from an afternoon visit to Bordeaux we drove past Chez Camille in Boisredon. Not the prettiest looking bar you’ll find in rural France, but I would venture at it being one of the friendliest. They serve lovely pizzas at the weekend and a very drinkable rosé wine which can be bought for €3 a bottle!

Lots of great places around this area to visit – the citadel and food market at Blaye (Weds and Sat), lovely village of Talmont, beach at St Georges, lunch in Cognac. We all had a great holiday.

Wonderful place to stay for our holiday, a true home from home

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from two weeks at Le Moulin de Brulot and can't wait to book for next year. Corrina and Steve are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The house is very well equipped with all you could want, it really is home from home. The children loved playing in the pool everyday not to mention the swings and trampoline, they've already decided we should live in France and preferably live there! The nearest supermarket is ten minutes drive and the nearest Boulangerie is less than five minutes drive away, plenty to do and see in the surrounding areas if you want to and the coast forty minutes away, if you have children can suggest Chateau de Enigma as a fun afternoon of treasure hunting. Absolutely can highly recommend staying at Le Moulin de Brulot, you will not be disappointed and in fact will wish you could stay for longer.

Gorgeous property and idyllic surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We have come back from staying for 3 weeks in this property. The property was spotlessly clean and had every single thing we could have possibly wanted. Corinna & Steve were always around when we needed them and very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable of the area, but didn't invade our privacy. The pool was fantastic and the kids were in it nearly every day. More than a home from home. We hope to return in the future to your property. Thank you again for all your help, Andrea, Mike, Chloe, Poppy & Freya Taylor

Beautiful, tranquil house and gardens

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to find a very pretty house set in large, well kept mature gardens in a secluded area on the outskirts of Boisredon, a sleepy little village. The house is very comfortable, spacious, clean and renovated to a high standard with all amenities including wifi, sky tv in two rooms and a lovely pool with decking outside. Each bathroom had its own ensuite and the kitchen was spacious and well equipped. There is also table tennis and badminton in the garden with other toys for smaller children. The lake in the garden is very pretty and serene. The house is a great base for visiting the Gironde area and the owners who were on site were very helpful if asked, but did not intrude in the slightest. If you are looking for a peaceful, restful holiday but with access to places of interest as well this is ideal.

From the Owner

When I drove down the tree lined drive to Le Moulin de Brulot and saw how beautiful and tranquil it was I was sold. The bungalow was a mess but the setting was perfect. So for the last 3 years we have been renovating. We are setback from the road so there is no traffic nose there is an abundance of birds and a kingfisher that comes down and fishes from the lake small but perfectly formed. Boisredon has a small but friendly village with a local bar where the owner speaks English. Mirambeau is a 10 min drive for shopping and the coast road is just outside there. The A10 is also there taking you to Spain 2 and half hrs and much more.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Bordeaux at 60 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Boisredon at 1.5 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Montendre at 7 Kilometres Nearest Train : Jonzac at 15 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A10 at 10 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Mirambeau at 10 Kilometres Car: necessary

Apart from just relaxing at le moulin de brulot (and it is very peaceful) there are lots of things to do and see in the area:

the nearest beaches are about 40 minutes up the coast at meschers - these are small coves with safe, sandy beaches. 5 minutes further on are the enormous beaches of st. Georges de didonne and royan, both with full safety patrols, lots of space & some watersports. further afield (1 hour) are the fantastic surfing beaches around archachon and bordeaux.

The gites are very easy to get to being just 10 minutes from the a10 motorway and approximately 1 hour from the nearest airports. By car we are 7. 5 hours drive from calais or the channel tunnel, 6 hours drive from la harve or cherbourg and 5 hours drive from caen. The nearest airport is bordeaux (55 minutes), followed closely by la rochelle (90 minutes). Other airports nearby are poitiers (120 minutes), tours (120 minutes), limoges (120 minutes), bergerac (140 minutes) and nantes (140 minutes).

The gites are 2km from the village of soubran. Soubran has a baker, bar/tabac/restaurant, post office, library, school and a small nature reserve. The market town of mirambeau is 7km away and has a supermarket, several shops including a baker, butcher, pharmacy, hairdresser, bank, a couple of bars and restaurants and a lovely chateau which is a 4 star hotel and restaurant. Within a 30 minute drive from the gites are numerous other pretty towns worth visiting. boisredon is also just 1. 5 km away.

Further Details:

Places to visit include

cognac. Several well-known cognac houses are open to the public and give guided tours around their distilleries. The town of cognac itself also merits a trip

st emillion. A very picturesque town, the home of “excellent” red wine. There are guided tours of a different chateau each day during the summer, by “road-train”.

blaye - an old garrison town, well worth a visit.

saintes - roman city on the charente river, complete with amphitheatre and roman remains. Beautiful abbey and churches and some good shops.

royan - lovely beaches, interesting yacht harbour. Good indoor food market. A “smart” seaside town.

talmont - a very pretty estuary village with an interesting ancient church.

la palmyre - renowned for its zoo, reputed to be the finest in europe. The beaches in this area are magnificent, mainly nature reserves and very wild. Also, visit the “phare de coubre” (lighthouse) and, if you’re fit, climb it’s 300 steps for a breathtaking view.

marennes - this is the home of the oyster and mussel “industry” - a fascinating area especially if you like seafood.

ile d’oleron - cross to this island on a magnificent bridge. The island has beautiful beaches & an interesting citadel.

la rochelle - very pretty harbour town (one of the most famous in france). Well worth a visit - many good shops & restaurants. A sea food lovers paradise.

bordeaux - an impressive city with good shopping and possibly the world’s most important wine centre. A new tram-line takes you into the city from the outskirts, avoiding the traffic!

the medoc - this wine country, which is perhaps the most famous in the world, invites you to visit its cellars (there are some 400 wine producers in this small area alone) and its beaches on the ocean.

archachon & dune du pyla - archachon is a lovely beach resort and is also a very famous oyster growing region. The dune du pyla is europe's highest sand dune. You are able to climb the steps to the top.

From the Owner

We have an above ground pool here so safe for children we also have lots of land for kids and adults to walk around or play. When renting the house you and your family will have sole use of the pool and back garden apart from general maintenance. The property is the most relaxing place to be and we enjoy just sitting around the pool reading or painting or sitting on the front terrace with a glass of wine whiling away the hot sunny French evenings.
