the property was first class and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

we enjoyed the property and the stunning views, there was everything you needed in the house, it was exceptionally clean, tidy and comfortable. The owners were very accommodating and looked after us very well. We would definitely return to explore more of the area, Barnard Castle was very nice, with Bowes museum a must see. Raby Castle also worth a visit and we also enjoyed the evening at the open air show Kynren. The next time will be for a longer visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for such a lovely review of your stay. We are delighted you had both enjoyed visiting some of the many local attractions. We are so lucky to have six castle's in the area, all offering a different visitor experience. It was fantastic you got tickets for the open air show Kynren and I am sure like me felt this show is truly amazing, the fabulous 1000 volunteer characterful actors, beautiful costumes and scenery, sound system, pyrotechnic lighting, fireworks, horses, sheep not to mention the gaggle of geese and tale of Historic England seen through young Arthur's eyes is a must see. I am sure this alone will bring many visitor's to the area over the next 10 years. We look forward to welcoming you both back to your cottage for a longer visit next time and more exploring of the area. Best Wishes to you Both Anne & Stephen

Great property in a lovely position

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weeks stay at Kearton Lodge. The cottage is very nice and comfortable. Anne was very accommodating and even had cakes, fruit juice and milk waiting for us. The views from the lodge look straight over the rolling country side. The area was great to explore. Barnard Castle is a lovely town. We were spoilt weather wise as the week we stayed was the hottest this year. We will definitely be staying again. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants a great holiday cottage in an outstanding area with lovely owners.

Fantastic 5* Stay

  • 5 of 5

We have just had 5 wonderful days at the Kearton Lodge from arrival to departure we have enjoyed every moment.

On arrival Anne gave us a lovely welcome along with a full introduction to the cottage answered any questions we had gave info on the local area and were to visit etc.... and even had the kettle on ready for us with fresh warm scones.

The cottage is fantastic and has everything you need the little extra touches are so lovely (easter egg bunny) and fresh flowers along with high quality toiletries and the beautiful smelling reed diffusers all make it extra special

The cottage is of such a high standard and is a real treat and you feel welcome and at home from walking in.

We used the sauna during our stay which was brilliant and was such a lovely thing to have been able to use.

We re-booked with Anne just as we left for a stay over christmas and new year and we cannot wait to return

Thank you for a great holiday

A Wonderful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned home following 3 perfect days at Anne's wonderful relaxing, retreat.

We were warmly welcomed by Anne on our first evening and made to feel at home immediately. The lodge is amazing, and immaculately maintained throughout, and it is clear to see why it has the 5 star (Gold) award, although Anne alone deserves the 5* award for her hospitality as following our warm welcome we were provided with delicious cake, the offer to use the sauna, and information regarding the local area. Anne had also provided additional luxuries throughout the lodge such as fresh flowers, and beautiful fragrances, that all assisted in providing a wonderful, relaxing environment for our stay.

During our stay we walked in the beautiful countryside, shopped in nearby Barnard Castle, enjoyed the quaint tea rooms, and also relaxed in the beautiful lodge as there was everything you required to stay in and enjoy the rest, if so desired. We both felt so relaxed and rejuvenated following our break and easily could have stayed longer.

This property is an absolutely delightful find and we cannot wait to return to this very special retreat. Thank you so much Anne for a wonderful stay!
