Thatched Cottage near Fordingbridge, New Forest, Hampshire - Beautiful 500 Year Old Thatched Chocolate Box Cottage On The Edge Of The New Forest

The cottage is ideally situated on the edge of the New Forest for exploring. Set in half acre of beautiful gardens. We welcome well behaved dogs but do apply a £15.00 per pet fee. The cottage is very homely and the Gas Woodburner within the original Inglenook fireplace offers guests a very cosy and warm atmosphere. During the summer months a barbecue is available for all guests to use. We are also able to offer a welcome hamper and cycle hire which we will be happy to quote on. All guests receive a complimentary bottle of red/white wine on arrival. Wi Fi facilities are also available. Ocassionally, we are requested by guests to facilitate Birthday, Anniversary occasions. We are therefore able to offer a surprise package on request.

What a Beautiful Cottage! We have never stayed in such an historic property before. The little touches and cosy/warm environment made it especially welcoming. The gardens are stunning. We enjoyed many barbecues during our stay. Ideal for exploring the forest area and so convenient for travelling to the major towns and beaches. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Notes on accommodation: The cottage is not just a holiday home but a family home and therefore we wish to welcome guests who will enjoy and respect an historic/family home with all comforts. Outside: The half acre garden area is typical of a cottage garden with two ponds and is maintained on a weekly basis by two gardeners. There is a Wendy house where the barbecue and comfortable deck chairs can be found, together with a bench table. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The cottage is cleaned on the day of arrival. Clean hand towels are supplied (Should bath towels/Extra linen be requested then an additional charge of £4 per towel/sheet will be applied prior to arrival). Other: The cottage dining room is situated next to the kitchen and comfortably sits six people around the solid pine table with easy access to the back garden area.

Better than advertised a real must!

Lovely cottage well described within listing but unusually these days, turned out even better! Smashing gardens a real credit to owner and totally in keeping with the setting of the house. Lovely and warm environment throughout the house. This cottage is SUPER CLEAN and again a credit to the Fran the owner and the cleaners. Really first class. Very nicely appointed in terms of appliances as well. Location is superb for visiting things around the area. The pub next door is very nice and has a restaurant. Prices are middle range and menu good, though, you may have a ask twice to get a full order, we did on two occasions. Staff we felt just a little lapse considering the pub seems to be struggling for clients. Bit out the way for many but not when staying next door! Complaints? None at all, enjoyed every minute and Fran the owner is excellent, very attentive with genuine concern for the renters. Going to the New Forest or surround, book this cottage you will not regret it.

A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous setting close to many amenities and walks.

The cottage was very well equipped and we didn't lack for anything. It was very cosy and the fire in the lourge made even more so. The owners had put a Christmas tree up for us which saved a lot of extra baggage. The kitchen is large and very country farmhouse in style so that many things could be happening at once in there. We could all fit comfortably round the dining room table and the entrance hall was great for prams etc. The dogs had a great time and the garden was well fenced so even with a busy road at one side of the house we felt safe letting them out. There were great walks around the village itself and a short drive into the new forest also. Fordingbridge was close and had ample shops to provide forgotten items and groceries. Altogether a lovely place to stay. The pub next door does great food too and we didn't hear a thing from it.

A charming retreat for a family get together

Dog friendly and very welcoming property with all amenities. Easy to find and well located for New Forest and Bournemouth. Super garden although not fully exploited in November. Plenty of space for all and separate dining room was much appreciated for a party of six. Parking off road for three cars was a great help too. Great communication by very friendly owner who was most accommodating. Highly recommended.

Restful and peaceful stay in beautiful surrounding

A home from home restful stay in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. An ideal place to stay as easy to get to the many lovely villages, towns and right on the edge of the New Forest. We really felt like we'd had a holiday. The cottage is just gorgeous and comfortable and Fran the owner goes out of her way to ensure everything is perfect for her guests. Slept so well. Recommend.

Beautiful cottage, accommodating & friendly owner

My wife and I have stayed in this cottage twice now and it has been wonderful both times. It's a beautiful building close enough to all necessary amenities but far enough away from the towns that you can relax and enjoy the scenery. The owner is extremely friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the local area. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone! Also it's a short drive to the Ringwood brewery which is amazing.

Booking Notes:
To book the cottage. We require a holding deposit of £150 .00 to secure the rental. We also require a £100.00 payment in case of damages etc. (This is returned within 7-10 days after the holiday. Providing the cleaners report no damages etc.) The full balance is due 6 weeks prior to the holiday break. Guests are advised to take out insurance as payments secured are non refundable.

Changeover Day:
Changeover days are Friday to Friday from 3pm. Departure time is 10am. For short breaks from October until April we are able to offer Friday to Monday. Short breaks at an arranged price.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for a maximum of 6 people. Any additional guests will be charged £25.00 per person. The property rental per week is in UK Pounds.
Short breaks For a minimum of three nights can be accommodated from October until April excluding the Easter, Christmas/New Year period. Dogs are welcome but we do charge £15 per pet.
