About Kneipp

I'm now an artist living here since 2004. Before I've lived in Engalnd for 16 years and before that in Germany in and near Nuremberg. I studied paedagogic and worked with children and youngsters for many years.

I still like to encourage not only young people but adults too, to discover their creative side.

Take part in a painting session or an art workshop.

Kneipp purchased this farmhouse in 2004

Why Kneipp chose Pontorson

As we are on the "cusp" of Normandie and Brittany, we are well within easy access of Rennes, Caen, Dinnard, St Malo etc etc. The fact that we are in the bay of Mont Saint Michel means that the air is clean and pure. The light here for artists' is renowned and the sunsets are truly wonderful.

Although we are in the countryside we are within one mile of main roads to and from St Malo/Avranches.

Cancale, the famous mussle and oyster growing area is not far from here.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The benifits of living here are tranquility, clean fresh air and being able to grow all your own vegetables, to pick fresh fruit from the numerous apple, cherry and plum trees and collecting eggs from the many chickens. We are conveniently situated within easy access to Pontorson and Avranches as the N175 is literally down the end of a little lane.

You can relax in the orchard or take part in art-workshops.

Lovely countryside farmhouse with character.

  • 5 of 5

For a nice peaceful stay you couldn't find better. Pontorson is only a few minutes drive away which is a fair size town with plenty of shops and two supermarkets plus a midweek open air market. The property was clean and tidy, and had a lovely orchard garden for the children to play in, they loved feeding the hens and collecting the eggs. We would definitely stay there again. Dieter himself is a very helpful gentleman, with a very laid back manner and he has some great local knowledge for scenic routes and local markets.

Charming, tranquil house with a lovely host, Dieter.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week here and had a very relaxing time. The house is in the country so very quiet and Dieter was very welcoming and helpful. Supermarket 10 mins by car in Pontorson and you can see Mont St Michel from most of the roads around. We enjoyed sitting in the large garden/orchard which is lovely and safe. Dieter gave us fresh eggs from his chickens and found out info for us on the local area. Thank you Dieter for making us so welcome! Sally, Andy and Emma

Comfortable and hospitable

  • 4 of 5

A comfortable gite in lovely quiet location. The owners Dee and Dieter were very friendly and hospitable. Lots of animals around - our kids loved that. Mont St Michel very close and a great day out, about half an hour from some lovely beaches. Would go again - our kids loved the gallery and doing a bit of painting.

Beautiful Normandy Farm House

  • 5 of 5

First of all I would like to thank the Owners Dieter & Dee for a Fantastic Family Holiday at their beautiful Farm House attached to their Main House ... Stables & Art Gallery. My wife and I managed to grab a weeks break with our two grown up children and Boy/Girlfriends & our Collie for a wonderful week in this Normandy Farm House for an all too a short break. The owners were really friendly and helpful during our stay, with the use of there Orchard for BBQ's most days. Great setting just outside Pontorson, 25 Mins drive from Mount Saint Michel and an hour and 30 mins from the Normandy Beaches making it a brilliant location to see the best of Northern France. Set in beautiful quiet Farming countryside with Horses & Chickens with-in the grounds set back in Acres of Farm Land, it was a traditional French Rustic Holiday and we will certainly be back. Dieter had his own Art Gallery attached to the Farm House and was the most laid back friendly man I've ever met. His wife Dee (English) was a lovely lady and extremely helpful on the places to visit. Dee & Dieter also gave my wife & I a Horse Trap ride around the local farm lanes one evening which was a wonderful experience. Our Son & Daughter in their early 20's and Partners also loved every minute of the holiday, in fact my Son and his Girlfriend who are touring Europe via 4X4 even stayed on an extra two nights after we left as they enjoyed it so much as we went for a Mid Week to Mid Week Break and the Farm House was still vacant until the following Saturday. I couldn't recommend Dee & Dieter's Farm House highly enough ...... Amazing Value for Money ...... If you are looking for a real taste of Normandy look no further. Thank You both so much for making it a great family holiday. Best Wishes from Derek & Joanne & Kids, I think our Dog Molly enjoyed her stay even more than we did.

Authentic French rural setting

  • 5 of 5

This gite in Macey is a perfect spot for those seeking an authentic French rural setting for their break. A car is a necessity to visit the many local attractions but you are also ideally placed for visits slightly further afield such as wide beaches in Cancale or the historic port of St Malo!

A warm welcome awaits you and your family (well behaved dogs are very welcome here!)

We cannot recommend highly enough.

Special interest holidays:

Being an artist, I can offer you a workshop in oil. acrylic or watercolour painting, which is suitable for all ages. In the gallery, there is a permanent exhibition, which might be quite inspiring for you.

Late summer, when the fruits are ripening we can make some jam, chutneys or relishes and in the autumn apple juice.

Our nearest beach is Mont Saint Michel, but this is not suitable for swimming, one of the nearest swimming beaches would be Grandville where it's completely safe for children with over three miles of sandy beaches, Cancale also has wonderful surf and swimming too. Dinard which is 45 mins away offers smaller coves for walking and swimming.

Our nearest port is St Malo which is about 30 mins away, Caen is 90 mins and Cherbourg about 2hours (when the new road is finishes it will be about the same as Caen) Rennes has an airport 45 mins form here and Dinard also has an airport 45 mins form here.

Avranches is about 10 mins away whilst Pontorson is nearer about 5 mins from here on route to Mont Saint Michel. Dol is very near and beautiful too. Ducey is close by and is stunning with it's waterfalls in the gardens, you can walk along the dismantled railway line for miles.
