Converted Stables in Mundesley, Nr. Cromer, Norfolk, England - Excellent Unique Location, 25m from Beach with Private Slipway

The village of Mundesley is an excellent location for a seaside holiday. It has a wonderful wide beach backed by a small promenade and a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Some may enjoy a dip in the sea or perhaps just the chance to relax and enjoy the view, whilst children will love to play on the golden sands. The close proximity of Gig House to the beach makes it an ideal safe location for family holidays. Mundesley is a traditional English seaside village popular with day trippers and holidaymakers alike, without being too busy. The wide sandy beach ensures Mundesley is not overcrowded even during the summer months. Mundesley is an ideal base for long walks along the coast all year round. The house was constructed in the early 1840's using traditional materials; brick, flint and lime plaster. The flint and lime plaster is 'breathable' which allows moisture to enter the walls, which may mean uneven / flaking lime plasterwork from time to time.

just a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay in Gig House.The house is beautiful. The pictures on the website dont prepare you for how good the house is and how close you are to the beach and sea. The beach is wonderful. Our dog loved it more than we did. We had Gig Cottage recommended to us by our friend Lesley, it was all we expected it to be and did not disappoint. The cottage was lovely, with nice touches such as tea, coffee, milk on arrival. The area was superb, walks along the beach were great. Everywhere seemed really dog friendly which added to the relaxation of the holiday. We will most certainly be back!! Loved every moment.

Perfect seaside holiday home.

This was our 3rd visit to Gig House, we love it with the sea outside the windows, sung inside and comfy beds - the new one in the rear room is super comfy. We love the new shutters, Wi-Fi and Sky and other changes made since our last visit.

Easy parking for 2 large cars. The kitchen is well equipped and we always manage to fill the large fridge and freezer on arrival and empty it when we leave. The Ship is family friendly, serves excellent meals and they do take away.

This won't be our last visit

Comfortable, home from home, rustic, on the beach.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gig House. It was warm, and comfortable with a fantastic sea view. Our Labrador couldn't believe her luck having the beach and sea so close!

The local pub ' The Ship' was a 5 min walk away, so if you didn't want to cook was a great alternative. Would highly recommend Gig House for a family holiday.

Simply Wonderful

Yet again we've had the most marvellous long weekend break at the Gig House. This property has everything you could want ...and more, and the village has plenty to offer - shops, pubs, walks and a fantastic beach. Highly recommended - we've already booked for 2016!

We never want to leave!!

This is our second visit to Gig House and once again we have had a fabulous stay. The house itself is well equipped and very cosy too. The view from the master bedroom is amazing. There is plenty of room for our family and it's beach front location is perfect for sandcastle holidays!! Mundesley itself is lovely and very family friendly. We would recommend this highly to our friends!

Home from home

This was our second stay at gig house and on arrival it seemed like we Had never left .

Gig house gives you the impression of a real home from home yet still being a holiday home the location is just fantastic just a stones throw away from the beach.

The property is well looked after and nice to see the new bathroom and shower rooms have had a facelift not that they needed but really modern.

The living area and dinning area are just what you need to come back to after a Long walk along the beach and the log fire is a must in the colder months and so welcoming the village is lovely and the local pub is just at the top of the drive and lovely staff and a bonus that dogs are allowed .

In summary in our opinion you can't fault gig house and will defiantly be returning .

Divers will love the local area to explore sunken ship wrecks off the coast.


The excellent family friendly beach at Mundesley is a stones throw away from Gig House, situated 100m away from the main lifeguard station and tourist amenities. Private slipways to the beach at either side of Gig House, ideal for launching small diving boats, jet skis, etc. Popular with local young surfers and boogie boarders.


Mundesley is 7 miles from Cromer, 25 miles from Norwich. Car hire is not essential as local public transport is excellent, regular trains into Norwich from Cromer or North Walsham. Hourly bus service into Norwich, Cromer and North Walsham.


Beach 25m, beach cafes and amusements, crazy golf 200m, village centre 400m.

Mundesley village has a doctors surgery, a chemist, Spa shop, fruit and veg shop, butchers, fish and chip shop, Chinese takeaway, 4 pubs, CIU club, 4 cafes, Post Office, Tourist Information Centre, weekly car boot sale, fishmongers van (Lobster Pot), art gallery/ shop, gift shops, amusement arcade.

Fuel is provided for the wood burner during the winter months for cosy days and nights sat in front of the fire looking out to sea watching the boats and ships pass by. If you are looking for a 'hotel' type of property to say in with a 'show house' perfection, Gig House is probably not for you. If you are looking for a traditional clean holiday home full of character in a unique location next to the sea, then Gig House is an excellent place to spend your holidays. Outside: Open plan patio garden leading to slipway (only used for five other properties). Timber decking area overlooking the sea, ideal for outside dining/relaxing.
