We are John and Karen Bennett, We are in our 50's,

We both enjoy the luxury things in life, hence why we instantly fell in love with Almerimar the minute we first saw it back in 2005. We've met and made many friends who are such lovely people and it's always a pleasure to return to Almerimar and catch up with everyone.

Over the years we've seen the resort becoming more and more popular, particularly in the summer. The resort is a purpose-built haven for enjoying the most relaxing and comfortable break. We chose the PortoFino complex simply because it ticked all the boxes, beautifully built, luxurious and perfectly placed for everything Almerimar has on offer. The Port, beaches, golf course, bars and restaurants are literally on our doorstep.

Outside: Being situated on a corner, the apartment affords spectacular views to the Marina, Sea, adjacent Golf Course and the mountain dropback of the Sierra Nevada. The terraces are large and offer everything required for a relaxing holiday. The terraces are furnished to a very high standard, having quality Alexander Rose rattan furniture. The upper terrace has a large cube dining table and four easy chairs with complimenting stools. A built in BBQ and fantastic views of the whole Resort to make dining al-fresco that bit more special. The bottom terrace also has quality dining furniture and is partly covered to allow for late evening dining/sitting out. The complex has a large secure gated pool for guests to use. The apartment is only metres away from Blue Flag beaches that are well cared for and stretch for miles. There are ample fresh water showers and toilets and numerous beach bars. The beach also offers many sports including windsurfing, kitesurfing, hand-gliding, volleyballetc... Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Weekly prices include cleaning at changeover, free internet, latest Astra TV, provision of clean bed linen/towel for each person. Guests can request a mid week clean at an extra charge. Welcome Packs are also available at an extra cost. Other: All rooms are spacious and have quality marble flooring and air-conditioning.

Lovely Apartment, Great Facilities and Location

We spent six weeks here over January and February and kept patting ourselves on the back for finding it.

This is a lovely apartment, very tastefully furnished and comfortable. The bed is ultra-fabulous! Even the bed-settee (which a friend used when she visited) is better than average.

Incredible views from the apartment, just as described on the website, you can't get enough of it all, especially from the sunny roof terrace (where we found the most comfortable sun loungers we've ever used). In fact all the outdoor furniture is top quality.

Being winter the apartment was very cool in the evenings but there are efficient radiators which Karen was more than happy for us to use.

The only downside for us was that the kitchen area only has a very small area for food preparation. Am sure this wouldn't be a problem for an average holidaymaker as people tend to eat out whilst on holiday but we were here for six weeks (who eats out every night for six weeks?) and I follow a special diet so spend a lot of time in the kitchen. However, there's a nice big dining table that we put to good use to help overcome the shortage of space.

There's a lovely big fridge in the kitchen too!

Lots of nice touches like videos, books, even converter plugs in case you forget your own.

We had problems with the satellite TV whilst there but Karen is in the process of upgrading the system anyway so no problem in the future.

It was really useful to have our own parking space in the underground car park, a real bonus!

Almerimar is a good place for a base, we did a lot of touring whilst there including to Granada, Malaga, Gibraltar, the Alpujarras, Roquetas de Mar, San Jose and Mojacar, Nerja, Berja and Frigiliana. All lovely but Nerja was our favourite. Wasn't keen on nearby Almeria, just really busy, not much to see.

The promenade at Almerimar is lovely and our evening dog walk gave us incredible sunsets most evenings.

Great customer service from Karen, she couldn't have done more for us.

The apartment was in a good position for a summer holiday, near the beach and the harbour.

It was a lovely apartment but not suitable for a winter holiday. The apartment was on the 5th floor right on the corner so you got the wind from the sea and the mountains and as the apartment doors and windows were badly fitted it was like living in a gale. You could not watch English television as advertised because when watching English TV the picture continually froze so it was impossible to watch. As we were staying for a month during February and March it was the main reason for taking the apartment.

As mentioned during your stay, we pay a premium price for the Astra TV, fast internet speed, and have recently installed the latest Smart TV. Unfortunately Spain is not at the forefront of technology. However I feel that we really cannot do anymore for our guests. Regarding the wind problem, our apartment is on the 5 th floor as it is a penthouse, unfortunately we cannot predict the weather and again apologise if you were unhappy with any aspects of the weather. I know that Almerimar has not had the best winter weather this year and this possibly has impacted on the satellite system and also your experience in our apartment as we do have repeat winter guests that return every year. Enjoyable holiday

We had a very pleasant stay at this apartment.It was clean and spacious.

It's in a perfect spot as its close to restaurants, the marina and beach.It also has lovely views from the balcony.The owner was very helpful regards directions, recommendations and the meet and greet arrangements. We had a very relaxing time and would definitely stay at this apartment again.

A truly beautiful apartment, we can't wait to return

Lovely apartment with sea view

We had a most enjoyable and relaxing two weeks in Karen's apartment. There was a heatwave during our visit and we appreciated the air conditioning and slept well in the large comfortable bed.

There is a well equipped kitchen and we enjoyed buying food in the nearby Mercadona supermarket and cooking meals to eat on the balcony.

There are many nearby restaurants which are particularly good if you enjoy tapas. We found the meals at the Chinese restaurant really tasty (they also do takeaway if required).

The only downside for us was the traffic noise from the road junction below the balcony but this could be because we live in a very quiet area and we are not used to the noise.

Due to the heatwave we unable to use the roof terrace as there are no parasols for the sun beds.

I can recommend this appartment and would consider staying there again.

Lovely apartment

This is a spacious, beautifully clean apartment with a balcony ideal for dining and a roof terrace well equipped for sunbathing along with a fantastic view. The website photos do not disappoint. Supermarket is nearby and plenty of restaurants around the marina.

Location

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

The Resort is flanked by two Blue Flag beaches that stretch East and West of the resort. They are within minutes walking distance from Porto Fino Complex.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Almeria, 25 miles away, It's a 30 minute drive. There are many car hire companies based in Almeria airport that offer cheap car-hire.

Malaga airport is also another option. The journey to Almerimar takes you along a scenic coastal road along a mediterranean sea. Approx 2 hours drive.

Regular flights by Monarch, BMI Baby, EasyJet, Ryanair ThomasCook all fly into Almeria Airport from most Regional Airports throghout the UK.

Distances:

Places of interest nearby include the neighbouring Resort of Roquetas de Mar, it is the largest holiday resort in the province and stretches for miles along the coast.

Mojacar resort is also well worth a visit, it consists of the old Mojacar Pueblo that is steeped in history and Mojacar Playa that offers miles of beautiful coastal scenery with many Beachbars, Restaurants and holiday activities.

Mini Hollywood is the longest established Theme Park. It is the setting of many Spaghetti Westerns.

Further Details:

Mario WaterPark also provides a great day of entertainment for the Children. it is a 20 minute drive away.

Just up the road out of Almerimar there is a large Go karting track, it is one of the best equipped state of the art technology Kart racing circuits in Europe. Cinema and Bowling.

Cabo de Gata Parque natural covers 38,000 hectares of land and 12,000 hectares of sea making it the most important protected area in Southern Spain.

2 hours drive away is the great sky station Ski Village resort towards Granada in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The journey up to the top of the resort on top class mountain motorway provide breathtaking scenery. Snowboarding and skiing at all levels can be accessed. Hire of equipment is available at very reasonable costs.

Booking Notes:
On confirmation of your booking a 25% deposit is due.
Final payment is then due 8 week prior to arrival date.
On arrival a payment of £200/200 Euro is required as refundable deposit as security against damage/breakages.
This will be returned at the end of your stay, subject to satisfactory property inspection.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day flexible. Arrival & departure times are flexible to suit the needs guests and to allow for cleaning and changeover. For busy periods, we ask the apartment is vacated for 11am and will be available from 3pm. We will endeavor to accomodate.

Notes on prices:


BOOKINGS OF 6 NIGHTS OR LESS will incur an additional cleaning fee of 55 euro, payable at time of key collection.
All Bookings of 7 nights and over pricing includes full clean of apartment and provision of bed linen/towels.
