About the property

Holiday Cottage in Brockhampton, Nr. Hereford, Herefordshire - Very Peaceful Location with No Neighbours

Camp cottage was originally a two up two down stone cottage with no facilities. We fell in love with it due to the views and tranquillity, the light can be incredible, the sunsets that can be seen from the end of the garden are breathtaking. We renovated the cottage and built an extension to make it a comfortable living space for our family. Anyone who wants to escape to either paint or finish that phd, Camp Cottage is the place to be. Mobiles do get an excellent signal in the area and the Internet is now available. All dogs welcome! A Non-smoking cottage.

About Denise

My family have enjoyed wonderful holidays and weekends away at the cottage for the past 30 years. We just love to escape the stresses of our busy week and take in the views and the tranquility of the area.

Denise purchased this cottage in 1976

Why Denise chose Forest of Dean District

My father-in-law bought the property as he was an artist and wanted to paint the vast changing scenery as it has wonderful light up there. We restored the cottage adding, water, electricity and completely updated it to its fantastic standard making it home from home.

What makes this cottage unique

Peace and complete isolation.

Awaking to amazing scenery and beautiful light.

The cottage is surrounded 360 degrees by fields and nature.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time at the cottage and particularly enjoyed the peace and quiet. At night there was just the wind and an occasional bleat from the sheep. Returning to the city I was aware of traffic noise, which I otherwise hardly notice! We liked watching the pheasants in the garden and my wife gorged on damsons every day! The lovely open view from the windows and the garden is a pleasure to contemplate.

Herefordshire was a new part of the country for us and it lived up to expectations: gentle, non-spectacular landscapes, good for walking, and very relaxing.

Well we’re back home again after another fabulous week at Camp Cottage. Can’t believe we were so lucky with the weather again!

We had such a relaxing time, we really didn’t want to come home. The cottage is a very special place and we love exploring the surrounding countryside.

I’m sure we’ll be in touch to book up again for some time next year. Sarah 9/13

Wonderful Camp Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Camp cottage is an absolute delight! Just as good, if not better, than it looks on the website.

The house itself is comfy and has everything you might need, with lots of charming and colourful details. A special mention to the new shower and the complementary fluffy towels, although the living area is also lovely.

But the main attraction is the beautiful garden, which both we and our dog Luna enjoyed very much. Great views, lots of sun, a pleasure to spend time in.

Camp Cottage is in a lovely area, with lots of interesting places to visit nearby. Both Herefordshire and Wales are beautiful and easy to reach. Beautiful scenery, charming villages, would definitely recommend this place to anyone, but especially if you bring a dog!

The owner was very friendly and helpful. The house was clean, the garden well maintained.

Just one small complaint is that, although the bedroom is quite large and beautiful, the bed is rather small.

Otherwise noting but high praise from us though. Lovely place, well worth another visit in our future!

Owner's Response: Hi Christianne And Luna Thank you for your rave review of camp cottage. I'm so delighted you enjoyed yourself and the surrounding area, Herefordshire is really beautiful a place of natural beauty. You are right about the bed, it's a double size bed but a king size bed just took over room. So yes it makes it a bit cosy. Best wishes to you Denise

Lovely Secluded Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Arriving at the cottage it was a wonderful surprise how secluded it was. The cottage itself had everything you need whilst on holiday, and the views from it were amazing! We had the added bonus of brilliant weather for the week, which meant we were able to take full advantage of the BBQ, and large patio table most nights.

The surrounding area is very picturesque, and we were able to take two circular walks of about 6 miles in both directions, taking in the river Wye on the way.

We would recommend the property to anyone who wants a quiet holiday, and enjoys the countryside.

Wonderful cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

Couldn't wait to get back to this beautiful cottage, its garden, and surrounding scenery.

Our dogs loved their visit as much as we did!

It is a home away from home. Everything you could need in the kitchen to prep some seriously hearty meals after a days exploring the footpaths locally. Big sofas to lounge on. A comfy bed to help you sleep it all off, and a powerful roomy shower to wake you up in the morning.

The cottage was lovely and warm all round, and we had to have a few glasses of wine sitting by the fire in the dining room.

Towards the end of the week we were enjoying sitting in the sunshine in the garden, enjoying the peace, and watching the scenery change as the sun shone on it, even the flooded Wye decided to glisten in the sunshine.

Wildlife this time included deer in the Camp (as the sheep were busy lambing down on the farm).Pheasants, Partridge, rabbits, bats, kites and buzzards. Hardly saw a human all week. Except when we went to Fownhope to the butchers and shop for supplies.

Yet another wonderful, relaxing time in the middle of the middle of nowhere. Looking forward to our next visit already!

A perfect walking holiday!

  • 5 of 5

This is the best dog friendly property we have stayed in, the dogs loved the garden. The cottage is really lovely and has everything you need for a wonderful break. I thought the kitchen was really well equipped and found it easy to cook proper meals every evening. The location is simply stunning and there are so many walks from the doorstep, the car hardly was used. It was a pleasure dealing with the owner who made the whole process very straight forward and made us feel very welcome. We will be back.

Remote, quiet, beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

Camp cottage is a gem of a place. Plenty of room for us and the 3 dogs. Cozy and comfortable with amazing views. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfy sofas, chairs and bed to relax in at the end of a days exploring. Unfortunately the weather wasn't brilliant, but it didn't stop the dogs running around the huge garden, and us exploring the walks around the area. The Wye Valley way is only a 5 minute walk away. There are plenty of local footpaths that take you to lovely little villages.

If you love peace and quite, and wildlife for company, this is the place for you.

A little piece of paradise...

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous week at the cottage... We wanted remote we got remote... Arrived with a sea of sheep separating to let us through... The views are stunning and the cottage fitted the bill... The added bonus was the weather... No rain until it was time to come home! Surrounded by sheep and nothing but the sound of wildlife, beautiful walks on the doorstep and plenty of places to visit near by (once the sheep let you through)...perfect.
