About judith Bramham-law

We are in our late 50's with an informal and relaxed attitude to life. We don't stand on ceremony here, life is too short! We have one adult son who lives in England. We both originate from Buckinghamshire where we lived in the same village for 21 years. we moved to Penderff after falling in love with it after seeing it whilst holidaying in the area. We have three pet dogs who are all friendly,(they are kept in our summer abode of the mobile home!) one horse and pony, one cat, some chickens and canaires. We love life in the county and are happy to rent out our beautiful home. We are always aware that this is a precious holiday that guests have looked forward too, so maintain a discrete presence but are on hand if needed! We stay down in the woods in a mobile home. We want our guests to feel totally at home here and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. We love what we do here and I think that it is reflected on our many repeat bookings, we now have so many more friends who come back to us again and again.

If you would like to see for yourself a little of life at Penderff, you can follow us on Facebook penderff holiday home. It has day to day life and lots of photos. Our guests also put their pics and comments.

Why judith Bramham-law chose Pontivy area

Why the owner chose a home in this location. We fell in love with Penderff as it is peaceful, beautiful and tranquil, the views are breathtaking, and the fact that we don't have to move off our own land to enjoy fabulous walks whilst not meeting a soul. The gite itself is friendly and welcoming and you feel very relaxed. Locally there are many forests, walks, rivers and streams as well as history in its adjacent towns. There is so much to see and do and we are central for most places in Brittany.

We are within 40 mins of the south coast beaches which means that you are not surrounded by crowds of holiday makers and busy traffic, but close enough to enjoy a seaside holiday. The countryside is diverse, its not flat and arable but woods, hills and valleys and the Nantes Brest canal is also close by. We are so easy to get to, 2hrs from St Malo ferry port. We purchased Penderff after only seeing it once, we were that sure.

What makes this cottage unique

We are within easy reach of towns and shops but whilst at Penderff not a car can be heard. We have 100 acres of our own land for walking around, a little fishing lake with rowing boat, ruins and woods to explore and the river to walk along.

Our gite is also available for the first time for Christmas and New Year. You can enjoy a roaring log burner, a real Christmas tree provided by us and mulled wine and minced pies to greet you on your arrival. Why not treat yourself to a Christmas away this year!

See us on Facebook penderff holiday home, it all happens here!

The above ground pool is located within the large garden is 7.5 by 4.8m and is approx 4 feet deep. What an amazing time we had

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time at Penderff. The gite was perfect for our needs, with plenty of space, inside and out. Judith and Jeremy were excellent hosts, with lots of useful help and information about the local area, and without intruding on our privacy.

The gite was clean and well maintained with all the facilities we needed (including satellite television to keep the kids happy!). The garden was also well maintained and of a good size. We even managed to make use of the pool, although it was a little chilly at this time of year.

We made full use of the garden, pool and games room, spending a lot of time just hanging around the gite and paying games in the garden. It was so peaceful and relaxing, especially with the warm springtime sunshine.

Our four children (aged 7 to 16) all had a great time, playing in the pool, or playing snooker, badminton, table tennis and football. We even had a go at building a small den in the wooded area. There is plenty of land to explore, and we easily found the lake were we had a wonderful picnic and row around.

The supermarket is less than 10 minutes drive, and has plenty of variety, even a small 'British' section with gravy, beans etc. (But bring your own Marmite, its €7 a pot there) There was even some Quorn mince and Linda McCartney sausages for my vegetarian son.

We didn’t visit a great deal. Locally we saw the castle at Pontivy and hired boats on the Lac de Geurledan. Further afield, we went to the Foret Adreneline, a tree climbing experience near Carnac. It is about an hours drive, but it has climbing trails for children as young as 2 years and plenty of trails for our 7 year old. It’s a reasonable price too, compared to the UK. Booking is essential though. Also the Parc de loisirs Le P'tit Délire near Ploemel was fun. It is an inflatable and slides park, aimed at younger children, but we all had fun playing human table football, gladiator style ‘knock em off’ inflatables, and other games. There are slides, adventure playgrounds, go-karts, and an indoor play area if the weather is a but dodgy. Reasonably priced entry, but the food is very limited and not cheap. The only vegetarian food was a ham and cheese panini with the ham removed before cooking! Bring your own food and drink.

The weather at Easter was clear and sunny most days, but starting off cold in the mornings (frost on the cars), and soon heating up to 18-20° in the afternoon.

I'm running out of typing space now, so I will stop. We highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. We are so pleased that you all had such a wonderful time! It is great that you wrote so much useful information for other future guests to read, as you say, there is an amazing amount of things to do not far from Penderff, also there is lots of activities to do here which you all made full use of. We loved to see you all playing games outside, chasing around and making full use of the space, I'm hoping that our next family will continue with building the den which you started. We hope to see you again in the future, you would be very welcome.

Comfortable and relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

We were welcomed by Judith on arrival and we felt at home straight away. We found Penderff to be an excellent base from which to explore this most scenic part of Brittany. It was lovely to be able to wander around Judith and Jeremy's vast estate including a delightful riverside walk and a small lake. As a professional photographer with a keen interest in wildlife my husband Laurence was in his element! The local town of Lignol is a short walk away and has a wonderful boulangerie with the best baguettes I've ever tasted. It was a little quieter than normal being late in the season and some restaurants were closed but there were still plenty of good quality places to eat nearby. Judith even went out of her way to book us a table at the Auberge du Pont Calleck a 15 min drive away for an evening of fine dining! We had many good days out and particularly enjoyed our visit to Pont Aven and a beautiful cliff top walk at Port Manec'h (Judith's suggestion). Thank you both for a very enjoyable holiday.

Like coming home!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Penderff six times over the past ten years, which just about says it all really! We love this part of Brittany - we have zoos, history, beaches, great food and shopping! We also have peace and quiet at Penderff. The gite is kitted out with everything you need, in the most perfect surroundings And Judith and Jeremy are the best hosts you could want - friendly, generous and knowledgeable. We have no hesitation in recommending Penderff.

Great Gite, Great Location and Great People

  • 5 of 5

This is the 4th year we have stayed at this Gite and each year we are just as happy. We have had the opportunity to try different parts of Brittany because we have been before and this year we spent time looking for antique shops ( lots of them) and also had a great meal at Benodet on a river cruise. Having a great base like Penderff makes it easy to have good days out supported by Judith and Jeremy with their knowledge of the surrounding areas and their great hospitality

The Gite was as usual spotless and well equipped, so much so that I was able to cook an Italian meal and BBQ. The weather was great and we had warm sunny days most days which I think go on to around November. We also noticed going later that their was more to do than we expected. I was also surprised how little we spent, we expected with the exchange rate to send more but we came home with half of our cash , what a result.

We have already booked for next year. Thanks again for a great holiday

Geoff and Jill

Fantastic holiday, lovely hosts, brilliant location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from an amazing holiday at Penderff. We were welcomed by lovely hosts with delicious home made cake and wine, a lovely gesture. The gite was spacious, tastefully furnished and equipped with everything you could need. Thegrandchildren loved the pool and trying out the table tennis, I even managed to sneak a day in peace floating on the lilo in the sunshine with nothing but the birds to hear. It is in a very peaceful location yet easily near enough to plenty of places to visit, some lovely beaches and lakes where we spent several days. The large area at Penderff to explore was a bonus, on one day we went though the woods and fields to the lake and tried out the rowing boat (with various degrees of success) which the grandchildren loved, also finding baby frogs, grasshoppers and dragonflies. When my daughter became ill, Judith was fantastic, organising a doctor's appointment for the next morning I have rarely come across such lovely hosts, nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel like old friends although it was our first visit. To finish the holiday we went on Judith's recommendation to Chez Nous in Lignol on our last evening and had a fantastic meal, there was even a playroom to entertain children in between courses, with a super British owner and child friendly. We would certainly recommend this gite to others, and hope to return soon.

A Fabulous Week in France

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in this lovely Gite. It is in a fabulous setting in a beautiful and tranquil part of France, but within a short walk of the pretty village of Lignol with two great restaurants and a Bakery - delicious bread and croissants to be had!!

The gite is very comfortable and extremely well kitted out. The owners, Judith and Jeremy, made us feel really welcome and it was great to be able to ask for advice on where to eat, visit etc.!! The home made cake and wine was very well received after a long journey and after a little tour from Judith, we felt right at home straight away. We felt very safe in this beautiful part of France and enjoyed the tranquility of being in rural France but with facilities and places to explore close by. There is so much to do without even leaving the property, and we got a lot of use out of the pool and the games room, which our teenage daughter really enjoyed. Our table tennis and badminton skills have come on a treat!

When we did venture out, we visited Larmor Plage, a lovely beach, only 30 minutes drive away, as well as the town of Pontivy which was nice for wandering round and having lunch. We also went to Lac de Guerleden, around 25 mins drive away, a picturesque lake with wonderful views, restaurants and cafe's etc.

All in all we had a wonderful holiday and would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a relaxing break in France. We would definitely like to return in the future.
