Swan Street Barn is set within the grounds of 15thc hall house, in idyllic Kent countryside. The Barn is a traditional 17thc Kentish barn, lovingly converted to a very high standard to provide the most modern comforts, complementing the original historic timber frame. Extremely spacious, luxury accommodation, with magnificent picture windows, underfloor heating, luxury bathrooms and and very well equipped kitchen, perfect for families. It is situated on a small holding guests are welcome to walk round and enjoy the animals. The historic villages of Charing and Lenham are only minutes away with restaurants and local shops. The Red Lion pub with good food is only a 5 min walk. Easy access to London from Ashford Intl , only 37 mins by train. Near to Leeds Castle and the cathedral city of Canterbury. A short drive into the heart of the Weald with its charming villages and historic attractions. Both Kent coasts can be reached within 20 minutes, including the fishing town of Whitstable famed for its oysters, to the north, and Dover with its historic castle and white cliffs to the south. Golfers have numerous courses to choose from.Other outdoor pursuits include miles of beautiful walks such as the Pilgrims Way on the North downs, and not forgetting the cycling and horse riding.

We would like to thank you for such a lovely holiday at Swan Street Barn June 6 to 18 June. We feel so rested and relaxed after our stay everything was to such a high standard and beautiful surroundings. Wonderful family weekend

We stayed at Swan Street Barn for a weekend with 6 adults and 3 children and a baby and 2 dogs for my sister’s 40th. It was perfect spacious accommodation for all of us and allowing the children to play in the large living space without us being all on top of each other. We enjoyed walking in the countryside, looking at the animals on the small holding and cooking meals for the gang to celebrate. The bedrooms, with en suite bathrooms are all spacious, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The host was very helpful with check in information and activities in the local area.

We will definitely go back, perhaps next year for Christmas!

This beautiful barn was brilliant for a family holiday in Kent, within easy reach of attractions.

We had a multi-generation holiday and the barn suited us very well. The barn is about 40 minutes away from a selection of beaches, and close to gardens and historic houses as well. There was plenty of space for children to play safely, indoors and out. The more grown up members of our party could relax with a book in quiet corners. The kitchen was well equipped so cooking was easy and fun. The living area was very large, with huge soft sofas, just right for having a snooze. The bedrooms and bathrooms were decorated to a high standard which is just what our family looks for in a holiday property.

We were very lucky with the weather during our stay, so we always went out for days at the seaside, visiting family for fish and chips at Whitstable , exploring gardens or enjoying afternoon tea. In the evening, before supper we fed the pigs on the farm and admired the ponies.

A wonderful week in a truly special house

We were a group comprised of two families with children of varying ages between 7 and 15. We had a fabulous week at Swan Street Barn, the living space is great, large enough for everyone in the group to do their own thing whilst still being together. Clean and well maintained it did feel as though it was a real treat to stay, especially with the picture window looking over manicured gardens. Only gave 4 stars as lacked a nicer private space outside (only a small patio area is immediately outside the property) although use of the grassed area at the close by small holding is possible and for parties of 8 or more you would really have to consider the bedroom space as it might not work for everyone, the attic bedroom is really only suitable for smaller children and the sofa bed is in a curtained off part of the kitchen/dining area so lacks privacy and/or doesn't allow for a relaxing start to the day with smaller children in the group!

Wonderful spacious family home

Spent a fantastic week at this huge impressive barn conversion. It was an annual family get together for six adults and four boys. The house comfortably catered for all our needs.

Boys kept busy with surrounding countryside and nearby coastal towns.

Idyllic Kent countryside. Very comfortable modern home. Facilitated my family of 7 very well.

Thanks Joanna... the only thing was the shower in the master- once we got the heat down after my wife took a shower there was water on the floor next to the stairs so we didn't use it at all after that, so it was a little inconvenient to have to go down the hall to wash. Looking at the beams you can see various areas you have had leakage in other areas as well. Other than that we loved everything and would absolutely stay there again if the opportunity arises!

Owner's Response: Hi Lawrence, Thank you very much for your review and lovely comments and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and would love to stay with us again. We are very sorry you had an issue with the shower temperature, it had been forced past the safety button so once we had re set this back it was then OK to use as you say. We were not aware you had a further problem with a leak on the shower otherwise we could have also resolved this problem for you as it was just the silicone seal round the shower tray. This leak does very occasionally occur as the barn is 300 hundred years old and constructed of large beams that move slightly during the year due to temperature fluctuations, especially after a dry/ hot period. To fix the problem we just need to reseal with the silicone and that does the job. Again our sincere apologies that you had issues with the shower and thank you for reporting it in the book as we have now fixed the problems.

The barn is not suitable for 10 adults - it provides accommodation for a combination of 6 to 8 adults and 2 to 4 children not exceeding maximum group size of 10 persons. 2 babies in travel cots can be accommodated in addition to the 10 person maximum.
