Minimum payment period is for 3 nights, although you are welcome to stay less time.

The house has been loved and admired by many for decades. It is a landmark property in the heart of the renowned spa town of Tunbridge Wells. It has been lovingly restored and refurbished. The house is located on Royal Tunbridge Wells common, yet it is totally central, and is positioned immediately in front of the main walk into town. Not much has been documented on the house historically, but it is known that Belleville is approximately 300 years old.Thackeray stayed here as a young man, and later made reference to it in his book Vanity Fair. To this day, it always attracts attention and intrigue.... It has been built into the sandstone rocks of the town, and commands a handsome position. Thackeray's, the famous Michelin stared restaurant is opposite the house. Under 5 mins walk to town and you will be surrounded with an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars. The Pantiles a 10 min walk..utterly beautiful and glorious summer nights of live Jazz...

To stay or not to stay ?

A terrific spot in Tonbridge Wells. Definitely worth the visit. The whole house was very unique and cozy. My family of four had a lot of fun staying there and being able to walk everywhere. Tanya was very responsive in communicating before we arrived and we did not need to ask for any help once we had arrived.

Beautiful Belleville

Such a beautiful home with much character. Areas of beautifully carved wood, portraits, perfect lighting to set the mood in each room, the ornaments and furnishings were quite exquisite. The home had all the facilities a family and guests should need, the historic cellar built into the rock of the hill was a nice surprise and it meant we had extra storage for our rather large weekends hold of food and wine! You would think from the outside of the house it would be quite tight and cosy fitting in all of those rooms/facilities but the whole layout was was great, the kitchen is small but who wants to spend most of their holiday time in the kitchen. The rooms were spaced out well, We had many adults along with my two young children and we all equally loved exploring around the house on the different floors. We had the loveliest stay and all would 100% return. The owner can I add was always very obliged to help with queries/needs and responded to them quickly. Thank you dearly.

We had a lovely time

Our party was made up of 6 adults, one 3 year old and one 11 month old.

The landlord kindly provided us with a cot and high chair.

There was plenty of space and one of the rooms was empty so could have accommodated more people.

The house is in a lovely location about 5 minutes (walk) from the high street and 7 minutes walk from the station. This is how long it took me to walk, there may be faster ways if you know the area well.

The house has everything you could need, a dishwasher and tablets, tin foil to reduce washing up when using the oven/grill, tea bags, washing up liquid, Sky TV, wi-fi throughout.

The house has great character and it really feels quite good to be staying somewhere a bit special rather than a chain hotel.

Any negatives?

Very very minor issues and only in the interest of full disclosure, the smoke alarm was a bit over sensitive, a cover from one of the under counter lights in the kitchen fell off a few times and needed to be clipped back in place and there was only one HDMI cable so you could plug in either the Sky Box or DVD player so had to switch around when changing what you watch.

All very first world problems. I would happily stay here again or recommend to friends and family without hesitation.

Stunning and amazing house!

I organised my sisters hen do and found this house online. I had people coming from all over the country and we really wanted a lovely home to stay in. This house is absolutely stunning. It feels like home as soon as you walk in and has such a warm feeling to it. It's spacious, comfortable and outstandingly clean and tidy. It's in the perfect location too. I haven't got one negative thing to say about it.

I was also extremely impressed with Tanya, the home owner. A fantastic speedy response to all of my hundreds of questions and always very friendly and helpful.

I can't recommend this house enough! Get booked in!

Tunbridge Wells, on the A21 provides access to the M25, and the motorway network to Gatwick and Heathrow.

Tunbridge Wells Mainline station is a short walk, and provides rail links to London Charing Cross, Victoria etc.

Distances:

Tunbridge Wells Main Line Station 10 min walk.

Gatwick Airport,50 mins by car.

Brighton Beach 30 mins by car.

East Grinstead 30 mins bt car.

Rye 40 mins by car.

Battle 40 mins by car.

Central London 1 hour by car ( 40 mins by train )

Royal Tunbridge Wells itself is steeped in history. Belleville features on one of the tourist walks Further information on these walks and further details of places of interest and dates for your diary, opening times, special offers and admission fees are available through the Tunbridge Wells tourist board (located in the 'not to missed' Pantiles). But below is a taste of what is on offer.....

During the summer months, music festivals are on show in the Pantiles.

Hever Castle, Penshurst Place, Chartwell, Leeds Castle and Knole are all within easy reach of the house and make for great days out.

Bewl Water near Lamberhurst houses the regions largest lake, so if sailing,canoeing, windsurfing, flyfishing etc is your thing,...you are in luck.

Bedgebury near Groombridge is for you if you prefer cycling, horse riding, or walking,....it is home to 2 thousand acres of forest .Go Ape is here too, should you fancy spending a little time in the trees!

The seven wonders of the weald are all within 8 miles of Tunbridge Wells, passes are available through the tourist board...not to be missed.

ooohhhh and you cannot come to the town without taking the Spring Water.Take a trip down to the pantiles and do as was done by Queen Anne, Queen Victoria, Samuel Pepys, to name but a few, some 400 years ago.

....and for the golfers...Neville Park is walking distance from the house.

and remember.....within 5 min walk of the house, you can emerse yourself in fantastic shopping, and a wide array of restaurants and bars. Caverley Gardens is a mere 10 mins walk, and is utterly beautiful to stroll in.

Or why not try a little wine tasting at Kent's oldest commercial vineyard - Biddenden Vineyards,established by the Barnes family in 1969 producing award winning still and sparkling English wines.
