Alexandra Watts, Cheshire wrote in June 2010: We have visited Vejer many times and have stayed in a few properties in and around the old town. This was our second time in Casa Hammam, it is a wonderful place to stay!

The location is perfect as it is very close to the main square and all the action, has good parking facilities and yet it is a very quiet street with very friendly neighbours. Although the kitchen is a little small for a house of this size we have mainly spent all our time here enjoying the outside BBQ and dining area with our friends and family. As the terrace is South-facing we really enjoyed relaxing in the sunshine during the days and at night time the view from the terrace looking up to the town is stunning and made our BBQ evenings perfect. It has been a real luxury having the cave pool to cool off in when taking a break from the sunshine. I love coming back every year to this beautiful town and will always stay in Casa Hammam. Tired and grubby

We arrived after a long drive from Nerja having spilt our holiday. The house was musty and the pool was dirty. The water was very cloudy and our kids could not go in it. After having it drained and re-filled, the filter did not work as told, therefore it remained unused for the rest of the holiday. We felt cheated as having searched long and hard for a property with a pool, it was of a poor standard. The house felt dirty and could've done with a good clean. The gas bottle which provided hot water was nearly empty. The terrace was scruffy, with broken furniture and no shade as advertised. We felt as though we had to chase up a lot of issues and this really shouldn't be the case when you are on holiday after paying a substantial amount. The house has the potential to be really lovely. It just felt a bit neglected and needed a bit of TLC. Very disappointed! Vejer itself is a lovely town and a great base to explore local beaches. Wouldn't recommend this accommodation.

Owner's Response: We are sorry to hear your holiday at Casa Hammam did not match your expectations. We value your comments and seek to address them. The comments book at the house shows much positive feedback from our guests. I have spoken with our local agent, whom you met at check in. He gave you his mobile number and is available to contact 24 hours with any concerns. There was a 'Viento de Levante" throughout August which was particularly bad the week of your stay. This is a strong wind of up to 70km/h and sometimes does cause problems throughout the region, for outside furniture and structures. I believe this was the cause of the problem on the terraces. A spare shade is available and furniture is replaced as soon as possible if this problem occurs. The house had been cleaned the day of your arrival, as the previous guest had left that morning. We use a local professional cleaning company and all bedding and towels are changed and sent to a laundry. I understand you contacted the local agent re the gas bottle which was replaced quickly. Hot water and hob are gas fired, the only gas available is by cylinder which is replaced soon as the agent is advised by the guest that it is low/run out. I apologise for the problem with the pool. We do occasionally have problems with the mechanics of it. On this occasion the Agent and Plumber drained the pool, replaced the filter pump, and refilled with fresh water. The pool was fully available for use within 24 hours of the problem having been notified. Our agent was not contacted to report any further issues with the pool. An external re-decoration and part internal re-decoration was completed this year before the season began. I hope this responds to your concerns. Honeymoon bliss!

A lovely house in a beautiful location. All amenities immediately to hand with an extremely helpful agent a few minutes away. Very comfortable and beautifully furnished. Pool in the cave is a real luxury. Local shops and restaurants a few minutes walk away. I can thoroughly recommend Casa Hammam. My husband and I would visit again without doubt.

There are a number of wonderful beaches in the area but those closest to the town of Vejer include El Palmar and Los Canos 15 mins by car.
