About the Owner
We fell in love with the Cotswold's and Stow in our twenties and after many visits, bought Honey Cottage and then Farthing Cottage. Both cottages are very special to us and we get a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction from people enjoying a holiday in our cottages and reading the lovely comments that are left by guests.
Most of our holidays are taken in the UK either in Honey or Farthing Cottage or in other self-catering properties if we want a change of scenery! We are both very 'passionate' about self-catering and huge lovers of the Cotswold's as it suits our huge desire to eat, cycle and walk. Not forgetting sitting in front of the fire with a nice glass of red!
We hope you enjoy staying in our cottages as much as we do and will do everything we can to make your stay enjoyable
Guestbook comments from the owner
'I would like to thank you for a wonderful few days in your absolutely super cottage. It was a real delight; so immaculately clean and very relaxing. We will not hesitate to recommend your cottage to others or indeed return ourselves.'
'Just wanted to say we had a really good time last week at the cottage. The cottage itself has been really well put together to make it a cosy and romantic place to stay.'
'The holiday was very enjoyable and we got out and about to quite a few places - and as before the cottage was lovely. I especially appreciate having all the 'bits and bobs' which you leave for us holidaymakers'

We ended our trip in England and Scotland at Farthing Cottage and it was perfect. The cottage is charming and comfortable and all the recommendations for restaurants and walks were spot on. We especially appreciated the firewood and starters that were there for us. Lighting the fireplace after our return from a long walk or dinner was our way of topping off a day. While we don't usually return to places, this may be our exception. We would love to spend even more time there although we did have five nights. If you are planning a trip to England, we encourage you to consider ending it with at least four days in ths charming spot. You will return from your vacation rested and restored.
The perfect romantic country getaway
We had a splendid long weekend staying at Farthing Cottage. It is just as described in its listing, but even better. The cottage is beautifully furnished and has a lovely relaxing, cosy feel to it. We loved the evenings in front of the log burner and thought the welcome basket of logs was very thoughtful. It was very easy to book the cottage and Sarah’s responses were quick and spot on. She provided us with a map, so it was easy to find the cottage – it is on a quiet street so be prepared to sleep well! We arrived late afternoon to find the lights and heating on plus a welcome tray of coffee/tea and snacks, which was a great touch. The attention to detail in the cottage is superb and we did not want for anything. It was spotlessly clean and there was lots of space in the kitchen to store provisions. The cottage is warm, the central heating works perfectly and the shower room has a great power shower.
Sarah also provided us with lots of information on the village and the area and we used that to plan our explorations. We were lucky with the weather and had wonderful crisp winter weather which was ideal for walking or relaxing. The village and surrounding areas are beautiful and really worth enjoying. We strongly recommend Farthing Cottage and hope to be back to perhaps enjoy the garden in summer.
We stayed for a long weekend when the weather was cold. We couldn't have wished for a more cozy or romantic place!
The cottage was warm and had a log fire. There is a car parking space right outside of the cottage so you don't have to worry about parking. The bed is super comfortable and the shower was hot. The kitchen was one of the best stocked that we've come across in terms of cooking equipment and crockery etc. There is also a TV and a few DVDs which we enjoyed watching.
The cottage is not on a main road so it's quiet at night and during the day. Location is great, a minutes walk from lots of shops and pubs and restaurants and lots of scenic walks.
Dealing with the owner and making the booking was straight forward and we were given lots of useful information about the surrounding area and the cottage itself.
I would thoroughly recommend and would love to go back.
I allways rent an apartment or house for holidays and Farthing cottage is no doubt the best I have ever rented. We arrived at about eight in the evening (in October), when the temperature outside was quite cold, to find not only the lights on, but also the heating, which I appreciated most. I will only say the cottage is so cozy we everyday longed to be back "home" after visiting the beautiful Cotswolds' villages.
Just the Best
I totally enjoyed my stay at Farthing Cottage at Stow-in-the-Wold in June 2015. I was thrilled to arrive late in the evening to find the lamps lit and tea things ready in the sun porch. A very kind resident helped me get from the bus stop in the Market Square to the cottage (I had the map upside down so goodness knows where I would have ended up without his help finding the alley next to the Lamb Inn). Everything in the cottage was wonderful - even though it did take me a while to figure out how the power shower temperature control worked. I even managed to master the combination washer/dryer machine without incident. The various grocery stores (Cooperative, Simply Food, and Tesco's) were very convenient. I really enjoyed visiting the Queen's Head for a pint after a long day of walking. There were so many circular walks using the public footpaths from this town or nearby towns and I did everything either on foot or by bus. There were multiple buses Mondays - Saturdays in the summer so getting around the northern Cotswolds was quite easy. I hope to return some day to do the walks I did not have time for.
beautiful and immaculate....what a lovely retreat!
Farthing Cottage is without a doubt the best holiday cottage I have stayed in.The attention to detail was well above what is expected e.g the welcome tray of goodies was much appreciated after a long drive.
The cottage is immaculately clean and the garden very well cared for. Such a pleasure to walk outside and smell the beautiful roses. It has car parking at the gate and is very close to all amenities.
Congratulations to all concerned. I would wholeheartedly recommend this property to everyone

“We fell in love with Farthing Cottage from the moment we stepped through the front door and saw the abundance of beams, stone floors, fireplace and chunky Cotswolds stone walls. It is surprisingly spacious for a one bed property with a lovely large bedroom upstairs with vaulted ceiling (and more beams!) that add to the lovely sense of space, plus it has a garden to relax and off-road parking which is fairly rare in Stow. It offers the best of all worlds - a magical place where you can relax right in the heart of one of the Cotswolds most popular towns with everything on the doorstep.”
