About the property

Barn near Bodmin, Cornwall. England, UK - Tranquil Location, Yet 10 mins from A30 and Centre of Cornwall

This unique barn offers groups of 12 people or more, the perfect place to base their holiday. Bedrooms are made to suit each group, whether you require family rooms, doubles, twins, or several singles, the furniture is moved in and out to offer the perfect accommodation. Please note that because of this we have to charge per person per night to cover the cost of moving in extra beds. The quote given will be for the minimum 12 people. Extra people are charged £30 per night each. We have six ensuite bedrooms in the main barn and two further bedrooms in a nearby cottage so the whole family can be invited to enjoy the perfect holiday in the heart of Cornwall. Because we move the furniture in and out, a small group of 12 will not feel surrounded by beds. We will just put in the beds required - doubles or singles, or a mixture of both. If you are a larger group we move in more beds. This unique method means we are very versitile and can adapt to groups of singles or family groups. We can easily accommodate a party of up to 26 (and even a few more if you don't mind a few bunk beds).

Set in the heart of an area of outstanding natural beauty, Tor View Barn is the perfect base, surrounded by peace and tranquility and yet 5 minutes from the A30. Each of the bedrooms have flatscreen television/dvd players and tea making facilities so you can relax in your own room when you need some peace and quiet, away from the group. The large lounge is a great communal space with a 55 inch flatscreen television, surround sound, and wi fi. We have an indoor play barn and playing field as well as a barbecue area and gazebo with plenty of seating for everyone. With the Eden Project just 10 minutes away and places like the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the National Trust's Lanhydrock just a little bit further, there is plenty to see and do during your stay. The separate dinning room can seat 18 people around one table, or separated, the tables will seat up to 34. The fully equipped kitchen with granite work tops, enables you to cater easily, with a commercial dishwasher, microwave, ovens, fridges and a freezer.

About Clare Hugo

Hello. We are Neil and Clare Hugo who run a family dairy farm in the heart of Cornwall. We have four children and one grandson. Our two sons work on the farm and two girls, one of whom is a manageress and the other is College studying dance. We have a pet goat called Fudge, a lovely horse named Gypsy, and two very friendly dogs called Jack, the working collie, and Tim the spaniel. There are free range quinea fowl and chickens and an abundance of wildlife as well as the cows!

Clare Hugo purchased this barn in 1960

Why Clare Hugo chose Cornwall

Neil's dad bought the farm in 1964 when Neil was just 4 years old (Now you can work out how old he is!). The farm has more than quadrupled in size since then and more cows meant the milking parlour just wasn't big enough. They decided to move the milking set up down the road, which left the barns redundant. The barn set was then transformed into accommodation.

What makes this barn unique

Surrounded by an area of Outstanding Natural beauty, and with a nature reserve adjoining the farm, there is an abundance of wildlife around us. Fabulous walks and of course the network cycle route.

The farm is very centrally situated, with the south and north coasts both less than half an hour away. Travelling around the county has been made much easier with the new A30, which is just 10 minutes away.

Much more than described

I booked Torview for our mum's 80th birthday celebration and family Holiday. My mum is disabled and the family ranges from the age of two to 86 so I had a lot to consider when planning this break

Clare and Neil could not have been more helpful from the moment we looked at the property and my husband and I immediately loved what we saw and thought Clare was friendly and very helpful .They went out of their way to accomodate our needs moving beds and equipment as we required.

Everything was spotlessly clean, excellently equipped (the kitchen is just brilliant) and maintained. The disabled facilities were fabulous so that was mum taken care of, there was space for everyone, both to be on your own if you wish some quiet time but there are large reception rooms for you all to be together as well.

Torview is set in the most beautiful cornish countryside with fabulous walks and places to visit with beaches about half an hour either way. Various members of the family visited, Newquay, Falmouth, Truro,The Eden project,St Austell, Polzeth and the north Cornish Coast and there is plenty to occupy you at the property inside and out, whatever age you are.

The whole family had an amazing time which went to quickly and we would highly recommend this property for a family holiday and hope we will be able to visit again.

My advice

Use Clare's direction's to the property they are perfect , all her written instructions were very clear which helped enormously

Thank you Clare and Neil we want to come back!!!!!

Owner's Response: We are so glad we were able to help your mother have a memorable 80th birthday with family coming from as far as Australia. It was lovely to meet you all and show you around the farm. I think the new milking robot was fascinating for both the youngsters and adults, and of course Kevin the pig and his friends (two horses and a goat) loved your daily treats. Hopefully you will find an excuse to visit us again soon.
