About the Owner

We live in the countryside in England and decided that the seaside would provide a different experience for everyone. Our children who are now in their late twenties and early thirties still come with their friends and partners. We love sharing the cottage with our visitors some of whom have been 10 or 12 times.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time and your cottage was fantastic. Spotless, beautifully presented and a setting that exceeded expectation. I would honestly say that your website photos do not do it or its location and views justice. (Dan Hemmings - June 2009)

We have had a wonderful time at your lovely cottage - so appreciated the way you have decorated and furnished it, the views on all sides and how cosy and warm we all were - quite rare in most places we have visited in winter. (Nancy Wells January 2014)

Lovely Cornish Cottage

  • 5 of 5

As in all the other reviews we found the cottage had a charming layout, was well equipped and clean and the "stunning views" as advertised really were stunning. The main view is from the living room window, where it is lovely to watch the boats, look across at Fowey and also the sunsets. We also loved the other little windows around the cottage. My favourite was peering through a little window in the kitchen, over the rooftops, to see waves breaking on the rocks on the other side of the river.

This cottage is ideal for walkers. We enjoyed walking along the coastal paths, visiting Fowey by ferry and we drove to Looe and Polperro. (The roads out of Polruan are very narrow.) We used the car parking space and walked down to the cottage. We would recommend this cottage.

Fantastic cottage

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 young children. The cottage was absolutely perfect for us. Amazing location and everything you could need inside the cottage. Beds were SO comfortable and lounge area was very spacious considering being perched on the cliff side! Local area was great with a few nice pubs and plenty of lovely walks. Superb holiday and few days rest!

A charming cottage with fabulous views over Fowey.

  • 5 of 5

A lovely characterful cottage which is clean and bright. The upper level living room is filled with light and makes the most of the stunning harbour views. The ferry from Polruan to Fowey ran every 15 mins up to 11pm. From 1 October the ferry stops at 7pm. The Lugger Inn in Polruan serves good food but it is easy to catch the ferry over to Fowey for a bigger selection of restaurants. We loved Fowey Hall hotel for a cream tea. Magnificent surroundings and lovely view from the terrace. Try also Fowey Hotel for fish and chips in the Lookout Bar. September cottage was clean and comfortable, stocked with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. It was a little hard to find from the directions but well worth the hunt!! I would recommend the cottage.

Perfect in Polruan

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with the holiday that we had in Polruan. The cottage was perfect for us with a gorgeous view of the estuary. Quiet and peaceful, it gave us the chance to truly relax at the end of days spent enjoying all that there is to see in and around the South coast of Cornwall. The owners provided us with plenty of ideas about where we could go too which was particularly useful. We will be encouraging friends and family alike to enjoy Polruan.

Beautiful, characterful cottage, superb views.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is situated in a fantastic elevated position within the village of Polruan. The views from the lounge in particular are magnificent, providing a 24 hour view of harbour life. The cottage has a very welcoming feel and is very well equipped. The bedlinen and crockery etc are of a very high standard and offer an extra special touch .

The cottage was clean and tidy on arrival, our only recommendations would be about the bathroom which appeared tired and in need of an update. The shower in particular, had to be hand held to shower as the fixture did not allow the shower head to be elevated or set in a position to work as originally designed.

The cottage is situated in a quiet lane, near the beautiful original blockhouse. The Lugger inn pub on the harbour quay is a 5 minute stroll away (downhill) and serves amongst other things, fantastic fresh seafood and a variety of delicious desserts.

Overall, September Cottage offers a beautiful, tranquil break away from the hustle and bustle.

The customer service from the owners was very good, they responded quickly to queries and were very helpful. We would definitely recommend it and hope to return ourselves in the future.

Owner's Response: Dear Kelly Thank you for your lovely review, we are thrilled you enjoyed it. We did not know about the shower (no one has mentioned it and it was fine the last time we went) but we shall certainly replace it as soon as there is a gap in the schedule. Yes do come again please. Polruan and its views are very special. Thank you for your helpful comments. Best wishes Ann

Location

From the Owner

We first visited Polruan in the 1990s. Despite the fact that it poured with rain every day and that we had three small children and a dog with us, we loved every minute of that holiday. We were determined to buy a house nearby and when some years later an opportunity presented itself in Polruan we started to renovate September Cottage. We visit as often as our jobs permit and our children who are now grown up love to come to Cornwall as well. Our eldest son proposed to his girlfriend on the cliffs in Polruan so it has become a special place for all the family. We have received many visitors over the past few years who have sent glowing letters of recommendation about the cottage and its wonderful views over the Fowey estuary.
