About Ann Walker

We live in the countryside in England and decided that the seaside would provide a different experience for everyone. Our children who are now in their late twenties and early thirties still come with their friends and partners. We love sharing the cottage with our visitors some of whom have been 10 or 12 times.

Ann Walker purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Ann Walker chose South East Cornwall

We first visited Polruan in the 1990s. Despite the fact that it poured with rain every day and that we had three small children and a dog with us, we loved every minute of that holiday. We were determined to buy a house nearby and when some years later an opportunity presented itself in Polruan we started to renovate September Cottage. We visit as often as our jobs permit and our children who are now grown up love to come to Cornwall as well. Our eldest son proposed to his girlfriend on the cliffs in Polruan so it has become a special place for all the family. We have received many visitors over the past few years who have sent glowing letters of recommendation about the cottage and its wonderful views over the Fowey estuary.

What makes this cottage unique

Wonderful views over the bay towards Fowey with the many boats which sail into the harbour. The unspoilt village of Polruan, near the attractions of a tourist centre like Fowey but lovely and peaceful to come home to after a day of sightseeing and walking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time and your cottage was fantastic. Spotless, beautifully presented and a setting that exceeded expectation. I would honestly say that your website photos do not do it or its location and views justice. (Dan Hemmings - June 2009)

We have had a wonderful time at your lovely cottage - so appreciated the way you have decorated and furnished it, the views on all sides and how cosy and warm we all were - quite rare in most places we have visited in winter. (Nancy Wells January 2014)

Beautiful quality cottage with fantastic views

  • 5 of 5

Booked for a romantic getaway, beautiful views looking over to Fowey, log burner which is definitely needed in the winter months and quality fittings throughout. Ideal location for walking, Lugger Inn a good place to eat and drink.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this positive review. We are delighted to welcome guests back and it is very rewarding. I am so pleased you had a nice time in January. You have just missed our new updated bathroom (we quite like the old fashioned one!) but it is important to keep renewing things and having just arrived here tonight we are delighted with the new look. Thank you for taking the trouble to write us this review. Best wishes Ann

Comfortable, cosy and tranquil cottage

  • 4 of 5

The first time in this cottage, which was delightful. We really liked its' ultra-quiet location, extremely comfortable bedrooms and its multi-aspect windows. We came to Polruan to rest and revive, and that's what happened. The close proximity to The Lugger Pub and Crumpets Tea Rooms was another big positive! Free car parking was also appreciated, as it takes away the only headache of staying in Polruan.

COSY HIDEAWAY

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week at this cosy retreat that would still be comfortable for a family holiday. The cottage is beautifully furnished and maintained. It is a gentle 10 minutes stroll from the quayside which has a traditional, clean and very friendly pub that serves very good food and a wide range of good beer. The cottage has all the facilities that you would need although the bath tub is a sitting bath cum shower. Beautiful views that are better than shown on the website. Will be making a return visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your positive review. It is always very rewarding to receive complimentary reviews. Coincidentally a couple of days ago we returned from Polruan where we have just arranged to have that bath removed on 16th Jan 2017. At the time 15 years ago it was the only bath that would fit the space with all the curved walls in the bathroom. The whole bathroom is being updated with a new super shower, a new loo and re tiling and reflooring. Yes do come again! We should be delighted to welcome you and thank you again for taking the trouble to write, especially so near to Christmas with all the other things to do, Ann

Lovely Cornish Cottage

  • 5 of 5

As in all the other reviews we found the cottage had a charming layout, was well equipped and clean and the "stunning views" as advertised really were stunning. The main view is from the living room window, where it is lovely to watch the boats, look across at Fowey and also the sunsets. We also loved the other little windows around the cottage. My favourite was peering through a little window in the kitchen, over the rooftops, to see waves breaking on the rocks on the other side of the river.

This cottage is ideal for walkers. We enjoyed walking along the coastal paths, visiting Fowey by ferry and we drove to Looe and Polperro. (The roads out of Polruan are very narrow.) We used the car parking space and walked down to the cottage. We would recommend this cottage.

Fantastic cottage

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 young children. The cottage was absolutely perfect for us. Amazing location and everything you could need inside the cottage. Beds were SO comfortable and lounge area was very spacious considering being perched on the cliff side! Local area was great with a few nice pubs and plenty of lovely walks. Superb holiday and few days rest!
