About the property

Tranquil Location Near St Emilion, 1 Hour from Bergerac & Bordeaux Airports

Superb stone villa set in huge garden amid the vineyards overlooking the Dordogne valley. It is totally secluded and wholly for your own use. The large oval pool has Roman steps and is alarmed. It is child friendly, spacious and easily sleeps 8 in 4 large bedrooms. The house had 3 bedrooms (king sized & 2 twins bedded), 2 bathrooms/shower-rooms, a large comfortable living room, big dining room and modern kitchen. The attached apartment has a modern kitchen, king sized bedroom, shower room & open plan dining/living area.

Visit the bar/restaurants and local shops in Pugols (4 km) or the river-side town of Castillion la Bataille (6 km). The medieval masterpiece of Saint Emilion (18 km) has an ancient square surrounded by cafes and restaurants serving world famous wines. Alternatively, take a trip to Bordeaux and coast or to the Dordogne castles. As we live locally, we organise, cleaning & baby sitting. We take guests on wine tours so you do not need to drive.

About Andrew Okell

We are English, we moved to France in 2003 & we run properties for a living. I have a keen interest in history & wine which we decided to combine into providing wine tours. My partner is a foodie who loves to cook, hence the arrival meal. We run the Villa for friends who have it as their country home & is furnished with the country antiques. We hope to offer a stress free holiday with almost anything you could want including baby sitting, cleaning & transport. As a result we now have many guests who return again & again. The French language was been a challenge until we decided to relax & admit that we would always sound like the policeman from “Allo Allo”.

Andrew Okell purchased this villa in 2009

This villa is a true gem.

  • 5 of 5

My family has stayed at this villa three times. It easily accommodates our three grown up daughters, their boyfriends and ourselves and is so large we are not on top of each other. There are so many aspects to it - the swimming pool and surrounding lounging area including a shaded area under some trees. The pool area overlooks the surrounding countryside and you can never tire of the breathtaking views. There's a more formal garden with dining area at the front of the property but we prefer the long, covered terrace at the rear where we sit playing games, listening to music, indulge in lively discussion or just drink in the cicadas chorus at nightfall. The kitchen is more than equipped to cater for all groups - and as we're a large group it's important we can self-cater. The cool and country-house elegant sitting room has full satellite TV, and loads of fascinating books to amuse. With lots of occasional comfy chairs and nooks and corners throughout the property, it's easy to get a little "me-time" anywhere. Accommodation is generous and furnished with lovely touches. The master bedroom is enormous, with an equally enormous en-suite bathroom which includes a wet room shower and jaquzzi style bath. There's a long dining room which holds about 10 and fully equipped for formal dining, but we rarely dine indoors. The attached gite is a handy hide-away for our daughter and her partner and affords them some privacy although they tend to invite the others "over" for drinks, and as it too has satellite TV, a late night scary movie. The property is secluded and a car is essential. Andy and Richard are meticulous about maintaining the large, mature garden and the house itself is spotless and fresh. They are easily reached and hands-on and have surprised us from time to time with delicious cakes. It's a great idea to arrange a home-cooked dinner to be available upon arrival. My only problem with the house is that writing this review will attract so many guests that we might have difficulty securing our dates for ourselves. If you are lucky enough to book this property, take care of it like it's your own. You will want to return and return again!!!
