This superb, newly built chalet apartment is situated in Les Carroz, France. Only an hour from Geneva, the Grand Massif ski area includes Flaine which boasts the best snow record of any non-glacial ski resort in the world. The apartment has been finished to a very high specification with large grassed area to the front, ideal for sun bathing and relaxing. Situated in a peaceful location, the centre of the traditional village of Les Carroz is just a ten minute walk away where you can enjoy shops, pleasant pavement cafes and the weekly market. From the balcony of the apartment there are wonderful views of the ski slopes, surrounding mountains and the village of Les Carroz. This bright, three bedroom apartment is located on the ground floor where you will also find a private ski locker. An excellent free shuttle bus (which stops on your doorstep) takes you to the new high speed telecabine and ski-lifts which are just minutes away.

The apartment was clean and spacious.,excellent kitchen ware made entertaining pleasurable. The apartment had excellent views and was very warm,,drying ski wear was not an issue. The free ski bus stops approx 100 steps from the apartment. The boot room is literally next door, so no time wasted collecting and dropping off equipment. We had an excellent stay and would definitely return. We have stayed in 4 similar apartments in the same area and this one was the best.

Had a very relaxing holiday is Les Carroz. Plenty to do in the summer. Went to Lac de Passy where you can see Mont Blanc in full view. Explored the mountains by taking a cable car in Les Carroz. Stunning scenery. Les Carroz has plenty of amenities including bars, restaurants and local shops. We particularly liked popping to the boulangerie and patisserie in the morning. Les Trappeurs as a charming little apartment with all you need for your stay. It does not have a washing machine however. The apartment was clean and plenty of space and the kids enjoyed all the board games available. The local spa, Aquacime was a real treat and enjoyed the heated pools and grassy area. Would definitely consider returning to Les Carroz for another holiday.

Good quality apartment in a good location.

The apartment was very typical of the MGM type apartments you find in lots of resorts. There was plenty of room for our party of 6, the beds were comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay.

It was very clean when we arrived, there were a couple of housekeeping issues which were resolved within 24 hours of arriving, the owner and the agent were very responsive. I would recommend the apartment to everyone.

The only minor niggles were typical of every apartment or cottage I have ever rented, if you like to cook (like I do) there are never any half decent knives! The ones in this apartment cut at an angle but were at least fairly sharp. Just a couple of ordinary kitchen knives and a sharpener would have been great. Oh, and the peeler was pretty awful. But theses were just minor inconveniences, otherwise the hob, oven and appliances all worked well and were clean.

Were were right at the end of the season and even thought the town was very quiet it was difficult to get tables at the pizza restaurants. L'Agora and Le Poirier only serve take aways after 9.30pm for some reason.

The Marlow was our regular and the food is good, reasonably priced, and great service. You might find the menu a bit limited. Other restaurants were pretty expensive.

This time in Les Carroz we found the best supermarket to the be the Spar just down the hill towards Le Lays. Larger than the ones in town and with a better choice. And they are really friendly.

It has been a few years since we were last in Les Carroz and though it has really grown it is still just about retaining it's French charm. One of the ski shops has gone really upmarket and they were quite rude to us when we went in to browse and it was clear we couldn't afford any of the clothes but otherwise everyone was really friendly.

Review Feb half term 2016

We've been to this resort several times and keep returning. We spent more on our accommodation this time however, and weren't disappointed. The apartment was light, spacious, clean, warm and well equipped. There was noticeably ample storage, shelving and lobby space. It's also ground floor which makes unloading the car after that long drive so much easier. (Parking available though not allocated) Having three bedrooms meant we were all private, each having an external window. The living space is central with all rooms leading off from it and is not cramped. The dining table was plenty big enough for six, and the kitchen well equipped (lots of big pans for larger parties etc) Two showers, on a ski holiday with six, proved essential, although there is only one loo, and not one in the ensuite, oddly. The ski bus was a new experience for us, but is only at the end of the drive and delivers you to town or the gondola without complication. (Last one home at 7pm, so great for a last minute shop, and/or beer in town) The walk to town is about ten minutes and scenic through the park. We ate in every night as local supermarkets have everything you need and re-stock daily. The leisure centre whilst handy and lovely, was sadly beyond our budget.

Overall we would recommend this apartment and resort.

Picturesque Setting

Excellent location very convenient for the free shuttle bus into the village and the ski slopes. Well equipped chalet with comfortable beds and plenty of storage space for clothes and luggage. Separate boot room area for skis and boots.

Landlady is easily contactable with very efficient booking and deposit return. The in resort management for key collection was easy too.

A pretty traditional skiing village makes Les Carroz an ideal holiday destination.We have been winter holidaying in Les Carroz for a number of years it is a great skiing

area with slopes for all abilities.

We visited Les Carroz on a day trip from Chamonix and fell in love with it's year round traditional alpine feel. It is a small resort but offers a range of facilities which would be found in larger less personal resorts. Les Carroz has access to some of the best skiing in the world but still manages to maintain a small and friendly atmosphere. It also has a vast amount of activities on it's doorstep and many places to visit nearby both during the winter and summer. It's accessibility was also important - only 40 minutes drive from Geneva and driving from UK or Europe is relatively easy as it is connected to main highways and public transport links.

Air - Les Carroz is 80km from Geneva Airport (50 mins) and is accessed on a direct road which remains open throughout the season.

Transfer - car hire, public bus, private transfer (we can assist), or taxi are various options from Geneva Airport.

Road - there is direct access to Les Carroz via Autoroute Blanche motorway (A40).

Train - Cluses links with the TGV and is 20 mins from Les Carroz.

Ferry - Les Carroz is 850km from Calais (approx 8 hours drive).

Range of activities throughout summer and winter in Les Carroz, however, if you do wish to explore there are a number of highlights within an hours drive away including:

Chamonix - Aiguille du Midi Cable Car (3842m) - 50 mins.

Annecy - one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe and old town is a must. Known as the Venice of the Alps - 30 mins.

Trip to Italy - try a trip to Asoste Valley through Mont Blanc Tunnel.

Trip to Switzerland - Martigny, Evian les Bains, Geneva and Chatelard.

Les Carroz is one of the oldest traditional villages, enjoys a sunny location and is a family friendly, charming, authentic village, which, due to its resident population, remains open all round. Village life in Les Carroz centres around the village square where there are a range of interesting shops, pleasant pavement cafes, and the colourful weekly market offering a wonderful range of local produce (every Tuesday). Les Carroz has the charm of a traditional Alpine village combined with all modern amenities. The resort is an ideal family location with restaurants and bars for all tastes, shops, crèche facilities, choice of ski schools and numerous activities.

In the winter, the Grand Massif is a skier paradise offering some of the best high altitude skiing in Europe and 265km of skiing. As one of five linked resorts, including Flaine, Samoens, Morillon and Sixt, Les Carroz is suitable for all levels, from easy greens for the newest beginner and children to the most challenging blacks and an abundance of off piste for the experienced skier.

In summer, this is a wonderful place for walkers and mountain bikers as it has hundreds of kilometres of marked paths in the valleys and foothills giving endless opportunities for exploring the high mountains. The sports complex with tennis courts and archery, three swimming pools and other facilities is situated directly opposite the apartment. Also on offer is mountain biking, white water rafting, climbing, horse riding, ballooning, golf, canyoning.

There is a good range of restaurants in Les Carroz offering fine modern French cuisine, traditional Savoyard cooking and very good pizza. Night-life - as this is a family friendly resort, night life is low key and centres around a number of atmospheric bars, a dance club and a 2 screen cinema which shows English language films as well as French during high season.

Hot air ballooning every February a magnificent hot air balloon festival is held.
