About Sally Hunter

We live in Cheshire with our eleven year old son who has special needs. We also have two older children, one in a management training programme and one studying law. David is a partner in a firm of accountants specialising in the provision of services to the housing sector, and Sally has recently retrained as teacher.

Sally Hunter purchased this villa in 2008

Why Sally Hunter chose Vale de Parra

We bought Casa Cacadora (which in Portuguese means huntress) because we had enjoyed annual holidays in Vale de Parra for the past fifteen years. For the last three, we had been looking for the opportunity to purchase a property in the immediate vicinity due to the benefits offered by that specific location.

Whilst the area is very peaceful, the villa is within easy walking distance of several restaurants bars and shops.

Salgados Golf and a number of beautiful beaches are less than five minutes drive.

The villa is managed locally by our friend and agent Alistair Macgregor. His office is only fifty yards away allowing both ourselves and clients to contact him easily should there be any problems with the villa or if they would like him to organise, taxis, golf or excursions.

What makes this villa unique

After some waiting and searching a five bedroom renovation project in large grounds became available. This mean't that we were able to design and equip it to meet our needs and taste, creating a modern villa with the spacious feel of an older property.

Externally we have added a large pergola, a children's swing and several fruit trees, as well as the facility to make the swimming pool inaccessible to children.

Inside it is fully air-conditioned, which is as useful in the winter months as the summer. This together with the heated towel rails and underfloor heating in the bathrooms means that the villa is comfortable all year round.

Just back from spending a delightful two weeks at this villa. (party of 8). The villa is very accurately and honestly described by Sally. It is modern, well equipped, spotless and well maintained with a local lady, Sandra, on site three times a week. The pool which is quite large by comparison with other villas in the area, has a brand new water heater fitted, which from our experience is not required at this time of year if you cover the pool at night. The secured access to the pool area is a game changer with small children, providing peace of mind. the villa contains everything that you need for a perfect relaxing holiday. The safe is ideal for storing passports. Having the property management office located 50 metres down the road is a bonus. Manuel was very helpful with all our queries and requests. The blue folder in the hall lists a number of restaurants locally - our best experience was in the local italian restaurant(Prima Pasta- booking advisable, staff speak english), right at end of road, left at roundabout - 700 metres on right, found ourselves drawn back a few times.

Mr Singh Indian restaurant, does not look much, but the food is excellent and staff very friendly, left at end of road, about 1km down on the left. local beaches are beautiful, plenty of facilities and water sports.

Went on fishing trip with grandchildren, organised though Manuel, out of Albeferia marina, barbeque was busy that night.

There are a number of supermarkets locally. Lidl and Aldi are ten minutes away by car. We visited Apolonia Supermarket - it stocks all U.K. brands but comes at a price - brace yourself.

Zoomarine is well worth a visit,

We hired two cars, recommend getting the toll tag activated. we used toll roads three times at the total cost of 4.45 euro -

Only bad experience was a visit to Alibaba Chinese Restaurant, in the centre of Albufeira on our last day, - Avoid, Avoid Avoid.

I highly recommend this villa and locality and look forward to returning at some future date.

Keep up the high standards, your home is a credit to you

Amazing villa and fantastic service

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a fabulous 2 week holiday. The villa was excellent for 11 of us (7 adults / 4 children). The villa was cleaned very regularly with fresh towels and linen. Nothing was too much trouble for the maid (Sandra) or property manager (Manuel just down the road). There are a number of restaurants and bars in walking distance but the place itself is on a quite street. The beaches in Gale are great and a 5min drive or 15 min walk with water sports / restaurants. Albufera town is about 4 miles. Communication with Sally before the holiday was great and very clear instructions provided. Really great holiday and if I went away with a large group again would book without hesitation.

As a family of 9, aging from 3 to 75, we had a wonderful holiday at Casa Cacadora. The property is really lovely and the service and housekeeping were top notch.

We have stayed in this area a few times as we like it's proximity to everything and available amenities. This is the loveliest and best kept property we have stayed in. Highly recommended, we will be back!

Situated in a quiet street, with secure parking facilities. Mostly ground level which was perfect as we had a 12month and 4 year old with us.

Air con was great as the weather reached over 30 degrees some days so the pool facilities and sun bed area lovely. Secure gate around the pool excellent with lots of sitting areas.

The whole family really enjoyed our holiday.

Fabulous Villa In A Lovely Location

  • 5 of 5

We are just back from a weeks holiday at this beautiful villa Casa Cacador. We booked it on a personal recommendation and it certainly lived up to expectations and much more. Sally was very helpful as this was the first time we had privately hired a villa. We went with 13 members of family and friends to celebrate my 60th birthday and we had a wonderful week. Adults, teenagers and children all enjoyed themselves and the pool is suitable for all with a security barrier for safety. The villa, pool and outdoor area are very well equipped with everything you need. The bedrooms, kitchen and living areas are all modern and spacious. There are a selection of bars/cafes and excellent restaurants within walking distance and a well stocked supermarket. The maid comes in 2/3 times a week to clean and change bedding and towels and we also had access to the washing machine and tumble drier had we required them. The site Managers office is just at the end of the road and Alistair and Manuel are more than happy to help and will arrange taxi transfers (birthday cakes too). The taxi company is very reliable. We loved it so much we did not want to come home and definitely want to go back. Highly recommend this villa. Superb. Thank you so much Sally for allowing us to stay at the Casa Cacador.

There are more than 5 beaches within 10 minutes drive of the villa. Rafael Beach has lifeguards and an excellent fish restaurant and toilet facilities. It is approximately 5 minutes drive from the villa. Also only a few minutes drive away is Gale beach, with lifeguards, toilet facilities and a selection of restaurants and cafes.

Faro airport is approx 40 minutes drive away. Car hire is strongly recommended in order to access beaches and larger shops, although it would be possible to spend a few relaxing days at the villa without one.

The nearest town is Albufiera, about three miles away, with many restaurants, cafes and shops, a beach and a lively nightlife. Worth a visit within a 45 minute drive are Vilamoura, perfect for strolling, with excellent restaurants and shops overlooking a large harbour; Silves, a Moorish town and castle set on a hill. Loule if you want to buy shoes, handbags and leather goods and a little further is Lagos, with a marina, shops and restaurants.

Further Details:

Bars and restaurants within 2-5 minutes walk of the villa are as follows: Arcadia Bar, serving drinks and snacks; Boca Doce, with cakes to take away or eat in, meals and drinks; Cabanita's bar serving breakfast, drinks and snacks; Malibu Bar, serving drinks. Restaurants Sao Domingos and O Girassol provide a wider range of food, including some Portuguese specialities.

Within a five minute taxi ride is the Michelin starred Vila Joia restaurant.

Local shops within a five minute walk include: Arcadia, selling wines and beach goods; Boca Doce, selling cakes; Favorita, where you can buy fresh and frozen food, household goods and alcoholic drinks and a newsagent and laundrette. Also only 3 minutes walk away is Monica Bitoque, which provides hairdressing, massage, manicures and pedicures. Less than five minutes drive is Apolonia, a sort of Portuguese 'Waitrose', and Oceana, a mini supermarket selling fresh and frozen food, household goods and alcoholic drinks.

Within a ten minute drive is Algarve shopping, with a large Asda style supermarket and lots of shops selling shoes, jewellery, perfumes, home furnishings, clothes etc. There is a foodhall with vendors such as Macdonalds, Kentucky and a Patisserie and there are also many separate restaruants. There is a cinema and bowling alley at the same location.

Leisure activities within a short drive include water parks, zoo marine, pottery shops and boat trips. Information on all of these and booking where necessary is available at Alistair Macgregor's office within two minutes walk of the villa.
