About this property

Restored large winemakers house with pool and air conditioning in bedrooms

Maison Gély is located in Causses et Veyran, a traditional medieval French village in the heart of the St Chinian wine region. Here you will awaken each day to the bells of the medieval church and the morning sounds of a sleepy French village. It always seems to be sunny. The house was formerly a wine makers dwelling and has been lovingly restored with antique furniture, chandeliers and paintings providing a spacious 4 bedroom haven from which to explore the region. Maison Gély spans three floors and comprises two restful and spacious double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms with high quality linen and furnishings, a traditional fully equipped kitchen/dining room, an elegant living room evocative of the 19th century when the house was built, a very large and cool family room and a utility room. The antique kitchen table can be extended to seat 12. The family room with large flat screen tv, dvd player is a perfect space for teenagers to unwind while adults relax in the restful living room. Three of the bathrooms are equipped with hydro shower cabins and the master bathroom is en-suite. The house also has the benefit of central air-conditioning in the three bedrooms upstairs and a standalone air conditioning unit in the basement bedroom. There is superb internet, television, private swimming pool complete with terrace garden area, a barbecue with side burner, and sun shower combining the best in both outdoor and indoor living space. There are two outside areas where family meals can be held, in the side garden or on the pool terrace. A two minute walk from the house and one is in the vineyards with sweeping views from the hills over the surrounding area. The ten minute drive from the house to nearby Roquebrun takes one through some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Languedoc.

Excellent holiday
Superb holiday home surrounded by the vineyards of St Chinian. We had an excellent relaxing week, enjoying the pool and a very peaceful village location. The house has been renovated to a very high standard and has large, well furnished rooms with plenty of space and good, comfortable beds. Good restaurants available in some of the nearby villages, particularly Roquebrun and we enjoyed the market in St Chinian and wine tasting at Laurent Miquel. Highly recommended.

Lovely house & village
This was our second stay, we love the house, the village & surrounding villages. Though traditional on the outside the house is modern inside, catering nicely for both teenagers & grandparents.

High quality holiday house
We were a family of 4 staying in this well equipped, comfortable large family home. The house is spacious with high quality furnishing and fittings. Well equipped kitchen and excellent showers/bathrooms. The owner Anne was very helpful and replied quickly to any queries. The village is very small and quiet. There is a lovely restaurant just around the corner from the house. Great swimming pool and BBQ area. Weather was unseasonably hot for June reaching high 30's. Nice villages and towns to visit. We particularly enjoyed Pezenas. Cessenon-sur-Orb about 15 mins away had a lovely Boulangerie. We visited two vineyards nearby which we would recommend (Mas des Dames and Domaine Gaultiers).

Perfect base for family holiday
The house was ideal for two families with 4 adults and 4 children (aged between 9 and 14). It is spacious and clean, with plenty of bathrooms and very comfortable beds. The outdoor kitchen and barbecue were ideal for catering al fresco and provided additional fridge space - always handy when catering for 8 people. The pictures are a good representation of the property. The living room is a lovely space in which to relax. The location is quiet and peaceful, apart from the church bells which you get used to after a week! The local bar is a gem - perfect for a coffee, cool beer, ice cream or a three course meal. The owners were very welcoming, as were many of the locals. From the house, there are a number of walks passing through vineyards and down to the river or up into the hills. For keen cyclists, there are a number of routes taking you out into the national park. The salt water pool was a perfect place to cool off. The owner responded quickly to any queries and made sure that we were welcomed on arrival. We had a great holiday here and would recommend the house to others.

Perfect! High Quality Option.
We were a family travelling with a 3 and 1 yr old, and an au pair, look for private villa on the edge of a village with its on pool in this area of France. We were looking for a viable option for a relaxing family holiday and this property exceeded our expectations. The owner was extremely helpful and accomodating and clearly is passionate about the property - it felt as though we were staying in someone's much cherished home. The bedrooms were very comfortable with modern, quality fixtures and fittings in all the bathrooms and good quality linens and towels. The kitchen was equally modern whilst the sitting room and all the features in the house retained their charming character. The pool was perfect! Beautifully refreshing for the hot weather but not too cold for our little ones. We really enjoyed staying in a village where we could walk to buy fresh bread and pastries in the morning or have a drink a decent meal at the relaxed local diner/bar. I would thoroughly recommend this property for all the reasons I've described before and it makes for a perfect base to explore the beautiful mountains or beaches nearby.
