This licenced 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, air-conditioned, 1st floor apartment with balcony is part of the Quinta Da Gomeira development, situated in the picturesque village of Cabanas de Tavira. The apartment is equipped for short or long stays. It’s only a short stroll to the numerous cafe-bars, restaurants, shops and the waterfront where you can take a 2 min boat ride to 3km of white sandy beach. There are four golf courses close by and Cabanas is a great location to explore the Eastern Algarve and beyond. The TV provides UK, Portuguese and some Spanish channels. Wi-Fi is available on a Pay As You Use basis.

About Dave and Jan

We (Dave and Jan) first visited Cabanas in 2003 with our two daughters, who are both grown up now. It was on this first visit that we knew this is a place we wanted to come back to again and again! We loved the little boat ride across the lagoon to the beach. The people are very friendly and it is relaxing place to stay. In 2005 we were fortunate enough to be in a position where we could buy our apartment. The apartment suits our needs perfectly having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Bedroom 1 has an en-suite and bedroom 2 overlooks the swimming pool. We both love fresh fish and there are some good places to eat fish in Cabanas. If you are meat lover, don't worry, there are also some good places to eat meat (Chicken, Pork, Beef). We NEVER get tired of going back to Cabanas.

Notes on accommodation: The lounge and bedrooms have remote controlled air-conditioning. All the rooms have patio doors with open railings guarding them. The apartment is no smoking but, smoking is allowed on the balcony. Sorry, no pets are allowed. The apartment is connected to a satellite dish providIng UK TV channels. Outside: During your stay you will have access to 4 shared pools of approx 18 x 8m with landscaped gardens and paved areas. Plenty of car parking is available on the quiet road below the apartment. There is a well equipped children's play area, a bar (O'Escalho) and a restaurant (Cabanas Brasserie) on the complex. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Clean towels and bedlinen are provided for you on arrival. We do ask that you bring your own towels for the beach though. Other: The balcony catches the sun in the morning. It has a table and two chairs. Perfect for enjoying your breakfast or a relaxing drink when you come home from the beach (or anytime really!!)

Nice apartment at a reasonable price

We recommend this apartment. After our arrival in Faro the owner's agent already contacted us to ask when we would arrive to hand over the key and show the apartment. When we arrived at the apartment, the agent was already waiting for us. The apartment was clean, beds were made, towels on each bed, so we felt welcome.

The kitchen was well equipped, but there were a few things we missed, such as a tin opener and a teapot. When we contacted the owner about this, they said they should be there. So either we could not find it, or a previous guest had taken them or broken them without telling. Pretty sad that people do this. The owner said we could buy the missing items and we would get refunded. In the end we managed without the teapot and we did not need a tin opener. but it shows that the owner was really willing to solve any problems. Actually, during the booking and after the booking, the owner always promptly responded, so really thumbs up on this.

It was very hot in the Algarve this summer, so we were really glad that there was air conditioning in the main room and the bed rooms. Also good to have a washing machine and dishwasher. A dryer is not needed, as everything dried very fast on the balcony (even faster with the AC blowing hot air out).

We used the pool a lot. This pool is shared among all people in the apartments (entrance with a pool key), but it was never overcrowded. Most other guests are Portuguese, and then there were the occasional British or French guests (we are Dutch). The pool is really well situated between the apartments that are in North-South direction, so that any breeze will be felt, and only between 1 and 3 pm there won't be any shade, but the rest of the day there always is some shade.

Parking is possible on the street. Sometimes we had to park the car on the opposite side of the street (actually better because the car would not be so hot in the morning), or a bit further down the road, but always within sight.

There was sometimes a bit of noise from neighbors arriving home late at night. This fortunately did not last long, but it woke up my wife one night. But I guess this is to be expected in an apartment and it should not discourage anyone from booking this place.

Owner's Response: Hi Rampal, Thanks for your review. We always take our guests feedback seriously and always try to ensure there stay is as pleasurable as possible. As we were over in Cabanas recently ourselves we purchased 4 cereals bowls and replaced the missing tin opener and teapot. I think in one of your texts you also mentioned some form of coffee maker would be good, so we also bought a cafetière. Thanks, Dave & Jan

Clean and tidy 2 bed with everything you could need

From start to finish our stay in this apartment was lovely. Dave and Jan were great with answering all my questions prior to booking and departure. Jane and Steve met us at the apartment and sorted any concerns and even came back later in the day with an engineer as they were concerned that the ac wasn't working as well as it could be.

The apartment is well situated, only 5-10 mins from the front. The pool which is beneath the twin room is a lovely big pool which never felt crowded and is well maintained.

The kitchen has all you could possibly need, both bedrooms are a good size with ample storage space. I had been slightly concerned when I realsised the master bedroom was roadside but I can honestly say there was no noise from it to disturb us.

A perfect base for your Cabanas holiday, thanks Dave and Jan!

spacious, v clean are apartment in a lovely town

Fantastic family apartment for family of four. We greeted by Jan who kindly collected us from the local train station and showed us the apartment which is Very spacious with two good size bedrooms and plenty of storage. Nice to have an extra bathroom too. The swimming pools are immaculately maintained and never get overcrowded. The apartment was well kitted out but only thing missing was a peeler and perhaps a few more serving bowls....though we only ate in at lunchtime as the the local bars and restaurants were family friendly and good value. Escalios is a fab bar just round the corner where a glass of wine is just over 1€!!! Cabanas is a lovely chilled out town and the locals are extremely friendly. The beach is a short hop on a water taxi and I would recommend going at the end of the day when the sun isn't so hot and the sea has warmed up and it's a bit quieter. We will definitely return. Great apartment

Gorgeous apartment. Very clean and it had everything we needed for our stay. There was plenty of space in this 2 bed apt for our family of 2 adults and 2 children. The pool was lovely and easily accessed by using a fob.

It was only a short walk to the main strip where you could get a boat ride to the beech.

I would recommend cabanas for a holiday and I would highly recommend this apartment.

Exactly what we needed

The location was ideal for us - close enough to the sea front and bars/ restaurants but far enough back so that it was quiet. This was our second visit to Cabanas and we weren't disappointed. The apartment was spacious and well equipped. Whilst there were only two of us there was more than enough room for 4 adults or a family. We enjoyed having our breakfast on the balcony and sitting there on an evening after supper. The lack of sun loungers at the pool was a little disappointing but we spent the majority of the time at the gorgeous beach so it worked for us. The owners were very easy to communicate with before and after and Jane who let us into the apartment was really helpful too. As it was August when we visited this time we did find it rather busy and would definiitely recommend booking tables for supper. A fabulous holiday and if we decide to go back to Cabanas we would use these apartment again.

The apartment is just a short stroll from the waterfront where a two minute boat ride takes you across the lagoon to 3kms of white sandy beach. The beach has its own cafe-bar. Available for hire are parasols and sunbeds. For the more adventurous, jet ski's and paddle boats are also available.


Faro Airport is approximately 35-40 minutes away by car. Taxis from the airport to Cabanas cost around 45 Euros each way. You can also get to Faro by bus or train. About a 25 minute drive away is Villa Real de Santo Antonio (Villa Real for short). From here you can catch a ferry over to Ayamonte (Spain).


The lovely historic town of Tavira is approximately 10 minutes away by car. Other places to visit are:

Monte Gordo.

Cacela Velha.

Villa Real de Santo Antonio.


Castro Marim.

Further Details:

There are a number of supermarkets, 2 local butchers and a bakers close by. There are 3 cash point machines and two of the cafes along the seafront have internet access. There are lots of restaurants to choose from in Cabanas and the village has its own local market selling fresh produce as well as fish and meat and freshly baked bread.
