THE Via Verde is a famous old railway track converted for walking, cycling and horse riding, it is a safe area as no vehicles are allowed. The Via Verde is an exceptional route, which runs parallel to the banks of many rivers, passes through spectacular places like the Rock of Zaframagón, one of the most populated vulture reserves in Europe. Bicycles and horses can be hired locally. The old station building has been converted into bar and restaurant, so you can have a coffee or full breakfast before you start your Via Verde experience.

RANCH NAVAZO was one of the largest farms in the area, we purchased in 2005 and converted the barns into holiday accommodation, has direct access from the Pruna/Algamitas road which has very little traffic, the whole area is totally fenced and has electric entrance gates. It is very safe and secure. Ranch Navazo has stunning views over the countryside and as it is facing south it gets the sun all day and wonderful sunsets in the west. We are close to the flightpath of birds migrating to and from Africa, we see lots of different species including vultures which are a protected by law.

The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art performs a spectacular equestrian ballet accompanied by traditional Spanish music with riders dressed in 18th Century style costumes. Six choreographed "How the Horses Dance" routines using movements based upon Classic Dressage, Doma Vaquera. A dazzling show with riders and horses in perfect harmony.

A visit to the González Byass TIO PEPE winery in Jerez will transport you back in time to Jerez in the 19th century, although a fine glass of Tío Pepe sherry will soon bring you back to the present…

Harveys Bristol Cream is still the best-selling sherry in the world. The company dates from 1796, when it was founded by John Harvey in, you guessed it, Bristol. Throughout the 19th century Harvey imported sherry from Spain to UK, and distributed it around the world. Then, in the 1970s, the company decided to invest in its own bodegas in Jerez, buying traditional Jerezano wine-making premises, thereby converting itself from importer to producer. John Harvey is now owned by Allied Domecq, which also owns Pedro Domecq.

Jerez also has a famous Clock Museum { but don´t go on the hour when they are striking!!]

Alcázar Sights across the entire Spanish south have been shaped by centuries of Moorish and Catholic influence, and in few places is this more evident and captivating than at the Alcázar of Seville. This palace—or a version of it, anyway—started to take shape as a fort in the 10th century under Muslim rule. Over time, many updates and additions were made (think palace halls, courtyards and gardens), especially by the Catholic monarchs, who still use it to this day, thus making it one of the oldest royal palaces of its kind in Europe.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria is the biggest in Spain and is where Christopher Columbus is buried and his tomb is always of great interest to visitors.

The Giralda tower is an ancient Arabic minaret and symbol of the city, dominating the city skyline. This magnificent structure has been used as inspiration for similar architecture in Rabat and Marrakech.

An Arabic palace from the 14th century, the Royal Alcazar was originally a Moorish fortress. Nowadays the Alcazar is residence of the Spanish kings.

Settled by the Phoenecians around the 7th century BC, later conquered by the Muslims and finally settling under Spanish rule, Ronda has had a long and varied history marked by war, trade, and geographic wonder. Today, most visit the small town of Ronda in order to enjoy is rustic charms, photograph the dramatic landscape and taste some of the local wineries of the region.

Upon arrival in Ronda, many note the El Tajo gorge that splits the town into old and new districts, and the Punte Nuevo bridge connecting the two. A photographic delight, the gorge and the bridge create a dramatic backdrop for this small town, and a walk across is enjoyed by many who wish to visit the Islamic old town. Also in the Islamic Old Town, visitors can visit the building where three generations of the Romero family established what is modern day bullfighting and see some of the ancient (14th century) baths that are still in operation today.

A visit to this historical Andalucían town is a journey almost 5,000 years back in time, beginning with the Bronze Age and the native Iberians. The timeline is there to be followed in this fascinating city's profusion of burial mounds, dolmens, Roman baths, a Moorish Castle, Gothic churches, Renaissance fountains and baroque bell towers.

Are you looking for a new destination for a day out? Witness wolves in an exceptional environment that leaves no doubt that animals in captivity do have a chance to live in a semi-natural habitat. A short distance from Antequera you will find the Lobo Park, where you may look at a wolf eye to eye for the first time in your life – an unforgettable emotional experience!

Explore the Mezquita, Cordoba’s stunning cathedral-mosque, on a 2-hour walking tour! The grand dame of the city boasts a history that dates back to the days of AD 600, serving as both a Christian church and a mosque. Admire contrasting architecture like Mudejar, Baroque, Renaissance and Byzantine while exploring rooms such as the maksura and the Christian chapels. The tour finishes with a walk to one of Cordoba’s pretty patios to sample a glass of local Montilla-Moriles wine.

Cordoba is a captivating Andalucian city with many attractive monuments, including its Alcazar fort and gardens, mosque, cathedral, synagogue and Jewish quarter. You'll discover a beautiful network of streets, alleys, squares and whitewashed courtyards, reflecting the importance of Cordoba in the medieval period.

A wonderful rural retreat to unwind in.

  • 3 of 5

Gracious hosts, stunning views, 100% tourist free, I only heard 2 couples speak English in 2 weeks. One evening 200+ goats with tinkling bells settled for the night, the sound was surreal. Definitely need a vehicle as the nearest cluster of Supermarkets is 39 miles away in a lovely town ironically called Moron, the journey is relaxing, one road and about 40 ranches/houses winding it's way through small mountains smothered by olive trees in regimental formations.

Owner's Response: Tourist free zone thats why we love it..I often hear the sheep and goats with their bells, grazing, its a lovely sound. There are 3 big supermarkets includung Dia and Mercardona in the next town of Olvera { 10 mins away} and there are 4 supermarkets in Pruna {3 kilometers for the Rancho} including a Co-op, but if you want a drive to Moron which is 34 kilometers there are loads of supermarkets including Aroski, Mercandona and Dia. We loved meeting you and you can come back anytime. Thank you Martin and Jess for your comments. Sonia

5 star luxury

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our 2nd stay at Casa Dali and once again it was superb. The accommodation is well appointed with everything you could possibly need. The pool area is spacious with stunning views of the real Spain, the white villages and the wild life. The owners are friendly and eager to make your stay pleasurable and have much local knowledge of the area. The perfect place to explore and also to relax.

Casa Dali

  • 4 of 5

We loved the location of the property, the views, and the local village. The outside space and pool were lovely.

The villa itself was smaller than we expected, particularly the second bedroom. There was no drawer space and limited hanging space so our friends were unable to unpack completely. We also felt that the kitchen would benefit from updated crockery and utensils etc.

However we had a great stay there and were fortunate enough to take part in the once yearly village festival. Sonia was welcoming and helpful and we found lots of places to visit and enjoy.

Lovely facility situated in beautiful Spain

  • 4 of 5

The property is well situated and a very friendly and attractive part of Spain, we enjoyed going out and seeing the sites when the weather was cooler and staying at Casa Dali when the sun shone. The pool was very welcome as was the air-con when the temperature increased. Casa Dali is equipped to a good standard and anything that was missing was made readily available by the owners very quickly. When at Casa Dali we spent quite a lot of time bird watching and spotted a very good variety from the Little Owl family nesting in a nearby tree to the family of Chough's that visited regularly and the occasional Osprey, a complete list was left with the owners. I would highly recommend spending time relaxing in this well equipped friendly facility.

Ranch Navazo was one of the largest farms in the area. The farm house/buildings and surrounding land were purchased in 2005 and converted for holiday rentals, there are now various animals, two rescue donkeys and some sheep as grass cutters, dogs and doves etc. It is fully realised that not everyone likes animals so they are kept in a separate area away from the visitors: A licence for a petting farm has been applied for, for visitors who like to be involved, but this licence may take sometime! Many children have enjoyed feeding the sheep and donkeys, saving their veg and fruit peeling for them.

The indoor patio is available by special arrangement
