Finca near Bedar, Costa Almeria, Spain - Peaceful Location Outside The Village, 17 Mins Drive To Beach, 15-30 Mins To Golf Cours

This pretty finca (farmhouse) in it's pueblo like Spanish style gives you a lovely feeling of holiday. It is suitable for two/tree (perhaps four) adults or a family (with children who can already swim). It has a private access and is located on 7550 square feet terraced land.

The pool is protected from view (swimming naked possible).The water of our saltwaterpool contains only 0,4% salt. This is nearly not remarkable but has a healthy effect on the skin, especially for skin deseases like psoriasis and neurodermitis (eczema). After swimming the skin feels marvellous.

Bedar, the next village, which can be reached in 20 minutes walk, or 5 mins. drive, it is a very authentic and picturesque Spanish village, which exists since the time of the Moors. It lies about 15km from the coastal resorts of Mojacar Playa and Garrucha. Bedar has a big English community and a few German and Dutch people as well. Then of course a Spanish population too.

About The Owner

We both work in a town and enjoy a house in the landscape, where different living is possible. Our children are already grown up but still studying. We spend most of our holidays in Spain and we found good friends here. We wanted to make a nice place for relaxation and beeing, a place where adults and children can spend an enjoyable time. This is possible in our house with the small romantic garden and all the wild plants around it.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2003

Why The Owner chose Bédar

In the year 2002, we were travelling for two months in India. On our last day when we had to leave for the airport of Madras at night, we went for supper and met a Spanish man. We had similar interests and so we spent the whole evening together. He invited us to visit him in his home in Bedar. We hadn't been in Spain befor, so we went one year later. We loved Andalucia, the white villages, the dry mediterranian landscape. We liked the wide open sky, full of light. So we asked him if we could build a house here. He showed us a beautiful peace of terrassed land with magnificant seaview. We couldn't resist, bought it on our last day in Spain and flew home as landowners. Since then we have spent many holidays on our land, and with the help of this friend we have built our little finca.

What makes this villa unique

Staying at our property gives us always a feeling of peace and relaxation. Staying here long enough, we come to a state of beeing which is lovely. Away from daily life at home, we get a new perspective. Our property is a quiet place and around the house we have a lot of nature. Our saltwaterpool with it's soft water is a pleasure for skin and eyes.

We love sitting in the morning on the back terrasse with breakfast, listening to the birds and the humming of the wild bees and seeing the sea glittering further away. There is always a spicy smell of wild plants.

At Easter time it is very special, because in winter there is more rain than the rest of the year. Thousends of flowers are blossoming around the house and we feel in paradise.

Thank you very much for the use of your lovely villa. We had a fantastic time. The children loved the pool. Your Villa is in a quiet area. We really enjoyed sitting around the pool and eating outside. There wasn’t a problem with mosquitoes, so this was a bonus! We have come home very relaxed.

We thought the pool was very good with salt water. It didn't affect your eyes like the chlorine can, so we preferred it. The salt concentration was so mild that you forget it's a salt water pool. We find with chlorine, that there is a horrible smell on your costume, towels and skin, but with salt you don't get any smell. It was perfect. The children swan around with theirs eyes open under water most of the time and they didn't complain once. I have been in other salt water pools and not liked them much, but yours was great. We are very content with the way things went. Especially

since we wanted to rent in such short notice. Next holiday we will defintely consider renting again. Thank you.

Notes on accommodation: Only suitable for children who can already swim. Living room with DVD, TV, Wireless Internet, open and well equipped kitchen. Toaster, small coffee machine, blender and more. For each bed a small fan and a big one for the living room or the patio. Iron/ironing board, hairdryer. Outside: Private salt-water-swimming pool (20 x 13.2 feet) allows swimming without irritation of eyes and for sole use of guests. The salt concentration of 0,4% is nearly not remarkable, makes the water tender, soft and healthy by skin problems. It is possible to swim naked, due to the protected placement of the pool. A large terrace on two sides of the house (one side with a pergola) allows a magnificent view till down to the see. Or you sit in the shade of the pretty patio with three arches, equipped with table and chairs, overlooking the pool area. At night you can see the lights of the village Bedar, like a shining birthdaycake on the hill and billions of stars and the milky way just above the house. From the back terraces you enjoy the nightly view to the costline with the lights of villages and beachbars, while you listen to the calming sounds of nature. On early morning, you can enjoy from the back terrasses a magnificant sunrise. The sun gets born out of the sea while the first birds start singing. 5 sunloungers, barbecue. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen and towels are provided, except beach towels and face cloths. The property is cleaned prior to and following each holiday. Bedlinen/towels can be exchanged end of each week if required, but at an extra cost. Or you use the washing machine. Other: The covered patio with it's pritty arches is like an outdoor living room, providing shade and views on the swimming pool.

Relaxing and tranquil

Our family of 5 (children 7, 9 and 10) had a wonderful and very relaxing time at this beautiful finca. The pool was a real highlight. It was very refreshing without chemicals and the right depth for all the family. The local restaurant was very welcoming and served cheap, good value food. ElPaso had huge portions. Many local attractions to entertain all the family - water park, spaghetti western film set. Would definitely recommend to a family,or for a quiet romantic getaway.

Tranquil and Beautiful

We had a lovely stay at the Finca last August with our two children aged 9 and 13. The Finca is exactly as I had imagined, rural, rustic and beautiful. The views are spectacular and the Finca has a simple charm, yet is very functional and well equipped. The borders surrounding the pool are well planted with a combination of lovely plants including herbs, climbers and trees. We thoroughly enjoyed the Salt water pool and the privacy attached to this property. The bedrooms are separately accessed from the courtyard and this could be tricky for those with small children, as could the open access to the pool. Bedar is an old attractive village, steeped in history with a handful of very lovely restaurants. The village is welcoming, friendly and easy to access. We loved the charm and character of the location and the finca, and this is a gem for nature lovers, and those seeking a tranquil holiday with a touch of traditional Spain.

The road down to the property was exceptionally steep and in very bad condition, which would have prevented a car with small wheels from attempting it. Heavy rain created mud in the only place to park due to bad drainage. There was no apparent garden, never mind a large one. We were supplied with innaccurate advance details, including the wrong housekeeper, so when we had no electricity or hot water we had problems getting help. We finally recieved the correct manual for the property several days after we arrived. The layout of the property meant that we had to lock up every room separately, which would have meant that children were locked up at night with no parental contact! We felt that although we enjoyed our holiday this property is not really suitable for renting as there are too many complicated issues which would present problems for those not of a practical bent, or very confident drivers.

Owner's Response: ? We are sorry for your bad experiences. The reason was an unfortunate concatenation of bad circumstances. As the unforeseen change of our housekeeper, necessary structural alteration-work in our garden just before your arrival and additional the bad weather. At the time you rented the house, there were extraordinary heavy rains which caused the power blackout. Power blackout can happen everywhere in Andalucia. In the meantime we have smoothed the road to the house and will improved the drainage of the parking area in autumn. To lock the bedrooms while sleeping is not necessary in this area, but if children feel better, there exist several keys to each door. One of the special charms of our house is, by open doors, the view from the bed to the pool. This gives a nice feeling of holiday. Up to now we received only good to very good feedback of our tenants (5 of maximum 5 stars). Unfortunately we cannot show this link here. From this website we have till now few bookings and so, only your review. Your feedback lets our house appear in a very bad light and this is not correct. Actually we got many thank-you-emails of very happy holiday guests, sometimes they even send us photographs.

Special interest holidays:

The area is famous for walking and bird watching and there are stables with the opportunity to go horse-trekking to the hills. Mountain biking is possible too. On Mojacar Playa resorts and the others around, there are many other possibilities for sports, like diving etc.


Beautiful, uncrowded and unspoilt beaches of Mojacar and the Cabo de Gata National Park, are 25 mins drive from the house and great for your children. The village of El Campico is exactly half an hour away from the coast of Mojacar when driving by car. This coastline is still unspoilt and lined with beach bars and restaurants. One is called Agua Amarga and is a natural bay with only 3 restaurants behind it and there are some shops and more restaurants in walking distance of the beach.


It is essential for staying in this property to hire a car or to come with a car. Flights can be booked to Almeria airport 50 mins, Murcia San Javier 1 hour 40 mins or Alicante 2 hours 20 mins. driving distance.


The next village, Bedar, is in about 5mins. driving and 20 mins. walking distance, with a small supermarket, bakery, tabacconist's shop, postoffice, one little boutique, bars and restaurants. A cheap, big and good supermarket is on the mainstreet of Turre (12 mins) The next bigger shopping center (Mojacar center, with big supermarket, clothes, gifts, lots of boutiques etc) in about 15 mins and the very next beach in about 15mins. driving distance. Much more beaches a bit further.

Further Details:

Wonderful walking possible, straight from the front door of the property. Popular area for mountain bikers. In Mojacar holiday resorts and further environments there are many different sports possible, like golf, diving, horse riding, snorkeling, water ski, sailing, etc.

During high season we take only bookings from Saturday to Saturday. 35% of the booking price should be paid on booking of the property and the outstanding amount is to be paid 6 weeks previous to booking.
