Character Country Cottage for Two

Overview

Property

Updated: 06-Nov-2016
Holiday Cottage in Plouer sur Rance, Dinan, Brittany - Peaceful yet close to All Amenities

This traditional Breton cottage has been tastefully, fully restored. The ground floor kitchen/living area is open plan, furnished with modern fittings yet retains character period features such as original oak beams and exposed stonework. A wooden staircase leads to a large gallery bedroom with A-frame beams. Both the kitchen and the en-suite shower room are well equipped. The paved patio is provided with furniture and BBQ. The cottage is set in a pretty, tranquil hamlet yet restaurants, bars and shops are less than a 5 minute drive. Ideally situated for those who want to experience the delights of the Breton countryside, La Quinois also provides the ideal opportunity to explore the history and culture of medieval Dinan and other important towns. Close also are fabulous beaches, golf courses and other attractions such as Mont-St-Michel.

Happy days!

Just back home after our 6th visit and missing the delightful cottage already. Perfectly situated for exploring this particularly beautiful area of Brittany. We make new discoveries on every visit. The cottage, as ever, was pristine and is excellently equipped and Judith and Mark are superb hosts, always discreetly on hand if needed. We have booked for three weeks next year - simply can't keep away! Anyone looking for a relaxing, peaceful and interesting stay need look no further......and may well get hooked like us!

Thank you very much Judith and Mark we had a great time

staying at la Petite Quinoise, your Breton cottage is lovely.

Thank you for bailing us out on arrival with ingredients for a scrummy omelette. We enjoyed cycling along La Rance to the medieval town of Dinan and onto Lehon. Visited Dinard and saw the Welsh football team coming out of the dragon's breath!( mist).

Cycled from Saint Lunaire to Saint-Briac. Enjoyed a nice meal beside La Rance in Dinan, and loved visiting the bakery in Plouer-Sur-Rance, we are missing all the lovely food. Thank you very much we had a lovely time and enjoyed

staying at la Petite Quinoise.

A wonderful Gite in a quiet hamlet. The area is ideal for cycling - quiet roads and close to a cycling track that takes you all the way to the coast at Dinard or inland to Dinan. There are many stunning villages along the Rance to visit - Mark and Judith are on hand with information etc if you need it. We will return in the future.

Lovely Breton Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Just arrived back from a wonderful week spent at this lovely Breton Cottage. We found the cottage perfectly presented with all that we needed for our stay. The cottage is located in a small quite hamlet in the country side, but still close to bakery, supermarket etc This cottage is perfectly located for many of the tourist sites, St Malo, Dinan, St Michel, Dinard and many beautiful beaches. Mark and Judith the owners live locally and are always available should you require help or advice. All in all a great holiday in a lovely Breton cottage we shall certainly return.

Location

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The cottage is 20 minutes' drive from the north coast of Brittany. Dinard is an elegant resort and there are many spectacular sandy beaches on the Cote d'Emeraude within easy reach. Cancale, 30 minutes' drive, is renowned for its oysters and seafood restaurants.

Travel:

The cottage is an easy drive to and from:

Dinard Airport - 15 minutes (Ryanair)

Rennes Airport - 40 minutes (Flybe)

The port of Saint Malo - 20 minutes (Brittany Ferries)

The ports of Roscoff, Caen and Cherbourg - all about 2 hours (Brittany Ferries)

We are members of the Brittany Ferries Property Owners' Travel Club; fare reductions are normally available for guests.

Distances:

The nearest villages, St Samson sur Rance and Plouer sur Rance, offering boulangeries, restaurants and bars, are both within 5 minutes' drive. Dinan, with its cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings is a 10 minute drive; it is one of the most charming Medieval towns in France. At the port, there are many popular cafes and restaurants directly overlooking the Rance. Breathtaking Mont-St-Michel is 40 minutes away.

Further Details:

Even though La Quinois is a tranquil hamlet, within a 5 minute drive, you have access to banks, shops, chemists, two post offices and a large supermaket filled with fresh local delicacies. Plouer sur Rance itself has good reasonably priced restaurants and an excellent creperie; food lovers will be spoilt for choice in this area.

Local villages have weekly markets and Dinan has an especially renowned market which takes over the town square every Thursday. There is also a small market in Plouer sur Rance, each Sunday, where you can buy oysters and local organic produce.

This part of the Breton countryside and nearby coast offer limitless possibilities for walkers and cyclists. Birdwatchers will be in their element.

Boating, canoeing and associated activities are available locally and throughout the Rance Valley.

The culture and historical buildings of the area will be of interest to everyone.
