About The Owner

We are a retired professional couple, who have owned the property for 20 years. It is used as a second home for holidays, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 1980

Why The Owner chose Penrith

Kirkoswald is a picturesque village in the Eden Valley, yet within easy reach of the North Lakes and Penrith. Even on Bank hilidays the area is uncrowded and tranquil, perfect for a relaxing break.

What makes this apartment unique

There is a very well stocked shop in the village, and plenty of local pubs serving good food. A roaring coal fire makes it very cosy in the winter.

A very useful base over the Christmas holiday period. Cosy, well equipped and central to village.

  • 5 of 5

We used this cosy cottage over the Christmas holiday period. It was well equipped, cosy, warm and central to the delightful village of Kirkoswsld. The cottage is a very short walk to the two great pubs. The two pubs are hidden gems in the Lake District and offer both fine food and real ale. There are well marked walks within the Eden valley. I always particularly enjoy the hike to the mystical stone circle Long Meg and her daughters. The cottage was value for money and full of useful instructions & local guides. Should be here again hopefully with a bit of sunshine

Fantastic mid term break

  • 4 of 5

Just returned from a fabulous 5 days in this lovely wee cottage in the quaint village of Kirkoswald. The cottage is extremely well equipped a real home from home and just round the corner from the village shop and both pubs. Can recommend the Featherston Arms for food it was delicious. The village is very well situated for walks around the local area and if you wish to go further afield there are many beautiful places on the doorstep. Would love to have lit the real coal fire however it was not cold enough and the storage heating in the cottage makes it very cosy at this time of year. Slight problem with flies which seemed to be particularly resistant to fly spray, this was the case in the pub also so not sure if it's the time of year or the due to the surrounding country side however a minor annoyance and not enough to put us off.

Only recommendation I would make is to provide a bit more information about how well equipped the cottage is as I took a lot of utensils etc as we did eat in or take picnic lunches most days however on arrival realised that I did not need them. It is clear the cottage is well used. Thanks so much for a fabulous 5 days

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely holiday here in Kirkoswald. Clean and comfortable apartment with every possible need catered for. Communication with John was excellent so we knew exactly what to expect when we arrived. Fantastic location from which to explore the area. The two pubs in the village were very welcoming and the food was good.

I have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Comfortable appartment

  • 5 of 5

Lovely quiet location, good for walks in and around the village, and for travelling further afield. Two excellent pubs in the village both serving great food. The apartment had every thing we needed, apart from there was no toilet roll? This was not a problem for us as we arrived in the afternoon and the shop was still open. The apartment does not have any internet connection, and the village has very little to none phone signal and internet. The apartment was well furnished with comfy beds and a lovely bathroom with a good shower over the bath. We would like to recommend to the owner John that he supply a safety mat to go in the bath, as it was a bit slippy on getting out. We had a lovely time in this apartment and would highly recommend this location and property. Thanks John for a lovely stay.
