About Charlie Camilleri

Ciao! we are Henry and Charlie, the owners of Casa Carlotta. We have lived worked and raised our family in London for the past 35years.

Henry ran a Financial Services Co for many years which he sold a few years ago.

I am a Ceramic Artist making hand built sculptures for the home and garden, and a Co Director of a Cafe/Bar.

When we are not busy in London we try and spend as much time as possible at our property in Italy. Maybe one day we end up living out there who knows! 🌻🌻🌞

Charlie Camilleri purchased this farmhouse in 2006

Why Charlie Camilleri chose Macerata

Part of Henry's family were originally from this area of Le Marche, his grandmother lived in a village not far from our property and he had spent many happy holidays here as a boy. We brought our own children here for many great family holidays during their childhood & so the dream of owning a property in Italy began. After quite a search we finally found Casa Carlotta & suddenly it was a reality! something we had only dreamt of during the long grey London winters!. We both love the area surrounding the house with its beautiful green rolling hills & medieval towns such as Cingoli & Osimo. Other plus factors for us are the easy access to the airport only half an hour away & also access to the lovely town of Jesi for shopping, restaurants etc & the beaches on the Conero Coast not far away.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We have spent much time renovating the interior of house to make it a comfortable, relaxing place to stay, with all the facilities needed to enjoy a great family holiday. Outside there is the original wood burning pizza oven and BBQ and the mature garden has many lovely trees such as mulberry, plums, figs, olives, bay and walnuts. In 2009 our 10x4m private swimming pool and shower was completed which was a very exciting addition to the garden. The local vineyard 5 mins drive away is a great place to sample & buy local wines & olive oil. Henry and I speak Italian and English and we'd be more than happy to discuss the other pleasures of a holiday in this region can hold with you. It is really a magical place to explore. We look forward to speaking with you soon! Henry and Charlie.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and friends spent a fantastic fortnight at Casa Carlotta in August this year - the weather was great! What a comfortable, spacious and stylish property in the heart of the beautiful Italian countryside. The huge farmhouse is well equipped inside and out for a most relaxing and comfortable holiday - we really felt that we had a taste of living in the Italian style! The local restaurants which were recommended by the owners were superb and good value, not to mention the wonderful Verdicchio wine! We would love to return to this property and continue our exploration of this area - there is so much more to see and do! Marie and Iain.

"A fantastic house in a fantastic location!"

We stayed at Casa Carlotta for one week, fantastic house, with nice contemporary furniture and fully equipped and is situated in the enchanting rolling hills of Le Marche. it has a wonderful garden with lots of places to relax, and a great pool. The region is more than worth exploring. Inge & Werner.

Notes on accommodation: The ground floor stable conversion is totally self contained and private with its own entrance and facilities. Occasionally Henry & I or our family may stay in our first floor apartment but we do not live there all year round so please ask if we ll be there. If we happen to be there at the same time as guests then we are very careful to respect our guests privacy & guests will have priority on use of the pool during their stay of course. The large fenced garden is bordered by mature trees & shrubs making it a very private space. There are wooden sun loungers to relax on poolside and many shady areas & hammocks in the trees to chill out in, also plenty of space for children to play. Eating lunch or dinner alfresco on the terrace with a glass or two of the local wine from the cantina up the road is one of the many pleasures of a summer holiday here. There are lights around the garden so it's perfect for a leisurely BBQ after a long day at the beach. Outside: The fenced gardens surrounding all sides of the house are mature with many trees including plums, walnut, olives, figs, pine, and mulberry. There are also many fresh herbs such as rosemary, bay, wild mint, fennel and more which can be used in your cooking. The swimming pool is 10x4m and 1m. 50cm deep throughout with a wooden decked surround.(Open May - Sept) There are roman steps in one corner to enter the pool. The pool is not fenced so all children should be carefully watched. There is an outdoor shower next to the pool for cooling off. Plenty of space for children to play ball games, badminton etc... on the lawn. There is also an original wood burning pizza oven in the garden. A large parasol, outdoor table and wooden sun loungers are provided and there are many shady spots to relax under. There are hammocks in the trees with beautiful views over the meadows and Cingoli hills which surround the house. The house & garden are not overlooked by any other property or buildings. Utility Room: Separate utility room just off kitchen housing Smeg washing machine, microwave, ironing board, iron, clothes horse and cleaning materials etc. High chair and travel cot stored here also. Beach umbrellas, beach toys, balls etc, stored in utility also. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath towels & bed linen are provided. The property will be cleaned prior to guests arrival. Linen & towels will be changed after 1st week & kitchen & bathroom cleaned. Additional cleaning can be arranged locally at cost if required. No Beach towels prov. Other: All the rooms are simply whitewashed & lead off a central wide hall way & the whole of the ground floor is tiled throughout making it a cool interior space during the hot summer months but has underfloor heating throughout for the autumn/winter months.

Just as good as we remembered

  • 5 of 5

We had our second stay at the beautiful Casa Carlotta this summer. Read the description about the property and just dream yourself there. It is as good as it says. We love the design and spaciousness of the house and large garden. It has everything you could wish for and the pool is perfect. It is beautifully maintained and it is easy to summon help or advice if you need it. The nearby towns and villages are each delightful and interesting in their own right. Cingoli Lake and a drive south to Ascoli and Loreto or north to Urbino were well worth the drive. Fields of sunflowers, vines and golden corn bathed in daylong sunshine added the enjoyment of outdoor eating and total relaxation. We have already booked for a third stay, hoping more of our family get a chance to join us this time.

Owner's Response: Ciao! Thank you so much for your great review of Casa Carlotta and the surrounding area. It is wonderful when guests come to us, fall in love with the area and then return the next summer for more of the same! There are so many hidden gems in Le Marche and even after owning our home here for over 10 years we are still discovering new treasures every time we are here. Look forward to welcoming you and your family again in 2017. Best wishes Charlie & Henry 🌞🇮🇹🌻
