Casa del Sueno is situated beside a wooded area close to the village of Jalon (Xalo). Our luxurious villa together with the very comfortable and well equipped apartment sleeps 10, with free WiFi throughout. The price quoted is for the use of the villa only for up to 6 people. For parties of more than 6, or those who also want use of the apartment, a surcharge of up to £300 may apply. Both the villa and apartment are tastefully decorated and furnished to a very high standard. All windows throughout the property have mosquito nets.

VILLA - the comfortable carpeted lounge has a log fire and air conditioning, two sofas and seats 6 comfortably. The fully fitted kitchen has everything one needs. The separate dining room has a sofa, table and 6 chairs and overlooks the pool and terrace, and has double patio doors leading to the private pool and BBQ area with floodlit areas for alfresco dining and entertaining and wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. The villa sleeps 6 in 3 double bedrooms.

The GUEST APARTMENT is completely self-contained with a carpeted comfortable lounge with sofa and easy chairs, TV including English channels and DVD player. The carpeted large bedroom has a double bed, walk in wardrobe and sofa. There is large dining room in the naya with table and 4 chairs and sofa which overlooks the garden and a terrace with table and chairs and sun loungers. The apartment (£300 extra per week) sleeps 4 and has its own entrance within the grounds. There are several areas for relaxing and reading in shade or sun on the property as well as an alfresco dining area in the shade of an old carob tree and several dining tables and chairs on the pool terrace. The whole property is enclosed and has plenty of secure parking.

There is plenty to do in the area. It is a paradise for mountain walking, biking, climbing, and the blue flag beaches are just a 15 minute drive away. The Jalon Valley is 15 minutes inland from the Costa Blanca coast of Spain but has some of the best scenery in Spain. With some areas on the Costa Blanca coast becoming somewhat built up and overcrowded the Jalon Valley attracts a more discerning visitor who appreciates more of a country feel although the coast and it’s beautiful beaches are still only 15 minutes drive away. Scattered in the Jalon Valley, as well as Jalon, the main town, are other unspoilt villages including Alcalali, Lliber, Murla and Parcent which are surrounded by magnificent mountains. The valley has olive trees, orange and lemon groves, vineyards, raisins and almonds. The Jalon Valley is a walker’s paradise ranging from a very gentle stroll to a six hour walk around the Sierra Bernia mountains to the south of Jalon. In late January and early February the whole of the Jalon Valley is covered with pink and white almond blossom and is a wonderful time to see it. The town of Jalon is at the heart of the Jalon Valley. The Old Square has a fountain around which there is an open market held on Tuesday mornings. Seen from the square is the famous Jalon Church with its blue dome. Wandering around the many small streets, you will find an abundance of shops, bars and restaurants. Jalon is very famous for its local wines and there are bodegas (wine cellars) where you can sample the various types before buying. Jalon was under Arabic domination for over five hundred years. The Arabians built two castles, one for the Solana (the Aixa) and another in the Bernia. Both fortresses controlled the Jalon Valley and the numerous settlers. The Arabians left behind the typical house style, for which Jalon is famous today, i.e. houses of stone and old bricks with large wooden doors as well as decorated walls.

We are a retired teacher couple from Cheshire and have had a holiday home in this area of Spain for the past 19 years. We love to spend the winters in our restful home in Jalon where we have made many friends. We enjoy the outdoor life and visiting local bars and restaurants to sample the goods! We like good food and wine and also enjoy cooking on our BBQ or in our well fitted kitchen.

Our children, grandchildren and friends love visiting to de-stress.

Beautiful Spacious Villa

We have had a wonderful week at the property in Jalon, very spacious, plenty of room, clean villa and more than adequate facilities. so many areas to sit outside and relax with plenty room for everyone. We travelled as a family of 8 , 6 adults, 2 children and found the villa everything we needed and more. The views are stunning, great looking out when you are relaxing by the pool. We also had the additional side house which just made the whole week. Everyone was more than happy with the stay and would love to come back one day. Would recommend to anyone. Lovely people and great communication.

Fabulous villa

We had a wonderful time here .. There were 7 of us in total, with 3 young children. The property was perfect for the family, very well laid out and really lent itself to sitting around in the evening having a family BBQ.

The town has great facilities with a local good sized supermarket, pharmacy etc... There is a lovely market on Tuesday and Saturday which is definitely recommended

We would definitely come back and stay here again!

Perfect villa and amenities

I stayed with my husband and 2 teenage children Friday 27 March - Tues 7 April 2014. We were impressed by the claenliness of the villa and the garden facilities, there are several tables to eat at if one area is too warm in the full sunlight. We used the villa as a base to access all the wonderful activities nearby~ the sport climbing, road biking (I understand many international cycling teams use the area around the Costa Blanca for training) and beaches. It couldn't have been better - thank you

Fantastic Spring Holiday

We have just spent a fantastic 4 weeks in this super villa. We hesitated over having 4 weeks in the same villa as we have been disappointed in the past but this villa is perfect and was lovely and clean with comfy beds. The nights were closing in about 8.30 and we were glad of the English TV and Wifi. We had thought that 4 weeks would be too long in the same place but there is loads see and do in the area. We had some walks in the mountains with superb views from the mountain tops. There were lots of bars and places to eat cheaply. The grandkids came for a week and we took them to the beaches because the swimming pool was a bit too cold to use at first but it did not matter because there was lots of other things to keep them happy and best of all the kids were made welcome in every bar and restaurant we used, The temperature had been improving all the time we were there and the last week of our stay the pool certainly came into its own and we just loved lazing about on the patio after the previous energenic 3 weeks. We would have no worries about recommending this villa.

Fabulous Place!

What a fantastic holiday again! We came here about 3 years ago and decided to have a return trip as it was so good last time but didn't think to write a review then so here it is from our bisit a few weeks ago.

We Hired car from Alicante airport and used it to visit loads of beaches and restaurants (so many to choose from in the area). Just like last time, when we arrived at the villa, we were really pleased that it was still really well looked after and nice and clean inside (my husband thinks I have mild OCD about cleanliness and tidiness).

My kids (9 and 11) loved the pool, in and out nearly every waking minute we were at the villa. The pool shower was fully utilised too, the kids thought it was loads of fun having a shower before getting in the pool (can't get them out of the shower at home eaither). The villa had all the mod cons we could wish for which made it feel like home away from home. (Husband insists on WiFi when we are on holiday now - I just need to make sure the kids can watch the TV to chill out in the evening).

The villa is so close to the village that on the odd occasion we decided to have a morning not going to the beach, we strolled down to the village. (I managed to get a bit of running in too in the hills behind the villa).

All in all, brilliant holiday again!

We love this area of Spain with its spectacular mountains and typical Spanish villages. The area is famed for its orange and lemon groves which have beautiful sweet scented blossom. Almonds are grown throughout the area and their early spring pink or white blossoms blanket the valley. The local vineyards grow the muscatel grape, cultivated originally for raisins but now produce award winning wines which can be sampled in the local bodegas. Here we can be relaxed and laid back living in the country but still within easy reach of the village - bars, shops, markets and restaurants without needing to use a car. The blue flag beaches are within reach being a short drive away.

The Jalon Valley is a walker's paradise ranging from a very gentle stroll to a six hour walk around the Sierra Bernia mountains to the south of Jalon. Algar Waterfalls is a beauty spot to be explored.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is at Calpe - a fishing port which is a 15 minute drive and has several super sandy beaches one with rock pools. There are also lovely blue flag beaches at Javea, Moraira and Denia all within 40 minutes. Benidorm is a 50 minute drive.

Travel:

Alicante airport is one hour drive and Valencia airport is 1 hour 20 minutes drive. Use of a car is preferable in order to explore the whole area. However, because Jalon village is so close, it is enjoyable to have a holiday without a car. The village offers everything one needs. A Local bus offers inexpensive transfers from the airport to Jalon (www.beniconnect.com)

Distances:

Jalon (Xalo) village is a 4 minute flat walk and has a flea market (Rastro) on Saturdays along the River bank and a general market on Tuesdays. Jalon has a large MasyMas supermarket and a variety of other shops. Jalon also has several bodegas where tasting the local wine is encouraged.

Alcalali, Parcent, Orba and Benissa (with Iceland and Lidl supermarkets) are 5 - 10 minutes drive.

Castel de Castells is 30 minutes drive and Guadalest is about 50 minutes drive.

Further Details:

The Jalon valley offers a quality holiday for the discerning holiday maker. There is a great selection of good restaurants and bars within very easy walking distance and many more in the neighbouring villages offering everything from traditional Spanish cuisine and tapas to an English Sunday roast lunch. A large supermarket is close by and Jalon village has a Pharmacy, banks, craft shops and several bodegas for tasting the local wine as well as weekly markets. The area is ideal for walking, biking (road or mountain), climbing and horse riding. Jalon village, typically Spanish, is a maze of narrow streets leading to its central square with its church and fountain. Throughout the year there are many local activities in which you may want to be involved - From mid January and early February the valley is full beautiful pink and white almond blossom and walks through the 'almond trail' can be arranged. In summer the beaches really come into their own. August is fiesta time in Jalon. September you may want to try grape treading at a local winery followed by dinner. Jalon has a massive Paella party with music and dancing in the main square on Valencia Day in October.

You could have a day in Denia - a working town and port with great shopping and a mammoth market on Mondays. You can even take a boat ride to Ibiza from Denia or take a ride on the glass bottomed boat to Javea. However you choose to spend your days, it's the return to Casa del Sueno and a glass of something cold on the terrace by the pool which makes it all worthwhile while you select where to stroll to eat your evening meal, or just settle down for a lazy evening on the lamp lit terraces for an al fresco meal.

As Casa del Sueno (House of Dreams) is our home for about 6 months each year it has every comfort you may want including English TV. and wifi throughout. It has lovely grounds with Mediterranean shrubs, trees and flowers. There are several terraces which offer privacy and alfresco dining areas and the pool area has large terraces with sunbeds, a gazebo, a BBQ area and outdoor dining and lounging furniture with parasols and the area can all be illuminated at night. There is ample secure parking. The villa is not part of an estate/urbansation but is built on private land which lends itself to privacy, quiet and relaxation but is only a very short, easy, level walk across the river into the bustling village for entertainment, fiestas etc. There are very many outdoor activities, golf courses and theme parks in the area and Benidorm is only 45 mins away

  • Notes on accommodation: The property is perfect for a large party consisting of a 3 double bedroomed villa with an apartment below which sleeps 4 making the whole ideal for a family with grandparents who can be accommodated separately if they should wish occasional peace and quiet away from the bustle of the children. It is also very suited to friends who are separate families. The pool is set in very large sunbathing terraces with dining areas of over 90 sq m where everyone can gather. There is a large paved area outside away from the pool which is suitable for children to play. If the villa is booked without the apartment, then the apartment will not be booked for the duration of the booking and the villa booking will have sole use of all the facilities. A complimentary welcome pack is provided. We ask that arrivals be after 4.00 pm and departures before 10.30 am. Outside: The total outside area is over 800 sq m including the large private terrace around the BBQ area which has a gazebo, several tables and chairs and sunbathing areas with sun loungers. This terrace is over 90 sq m and can be illuminated at night making it ideal for alfresco dining and entertaining. The large private pool adjoins this terrace and has Roman steps leading into it. There is a solar heated shower by the pool that we ask guests to use so that sunscreen lotion does not interfere with pool chemicals and cause the sparkling pool water to go 'murky'. There are several other terraces with or without sun and several alfresco eating areas with tables and chairs. There are areas of landscaped gardens around the villa with Mediterranean trees, shrubs and flowers. The villa has a large slightly sloping paved area on one side which is ideal for secure parking or a children's play area. Utility Room: 2 washing machines, dryer, clothes airer, clothes pegs, beach towels, pool toys, childrens toys, beach parasol. Outside washing line. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Luxury bed linen and towels provided (plus pool or beach towels). The villa and apartment will be fully cleaned prior to your arrival and there will be a weekly mid-clean and linen change for stays of 14 days or more Other: Dining room with extending table and 6 chairs, sofa, and TV.
