About the Owner

We live in Birmingham, England and have two grown-up sons and three grandchildren. We own two properties in Madeira (see property MD128) and one in North Wales (see property W145). Our two apartments in Madeira were named for our little granddaughters and we enjoy visiting four times per year. We have a very different holiday experience visiting our beach bungalow on the Lleyn Peninsula which we enjoy just as much, either on our own or with our young grandchildren.

The Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We've just spent a wonderful week away at this perfect holiday home. It was everything we could have wished for, and more. Spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped and in an idyllic location.

We were blessed with great weather every day but one and that made no difference to the holiday experience. Whether basking in sunshine or walking against the elements on the beach it was a breathtakingly beautiful place to be.

There were so many attractions nearby we could have taken advantage of but so happy were we at the bungalow we stayed put all week. That can only mean one thing, we'll just have to go back again - and again.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this beautiful place for a week at New Year. Flooding everywhere on the way down from Lancashire. But what a stay we had, the weather was awful, wind and incessant rain for the first few days, watching the storms roll in across the sea was unbelievable. The kids loved it, the bungalow was so cosy and warm throughout, everything you could need for a relaxing break is provided. Lovely comfy beds with excellent duvets, fantastic large shower room with underfloor heating, a large kitchen where us adults sat for hours chatting. The view from the lounge cannot be beaten. New Year's Eve the weather broke the skies cleared and the stars came out, millions of them. The beach is rocky, but the walk towards the big rock is superb.

Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful beach bungalow, we will be back.

The Great Escape!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Niwl y Mynydd! Yet again, the cottage was clean and well maintained to a high standard. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are modern and spacious. The lounge and bedrooms have a perfect sea view. The location is idyllic - just meters away from the beach, ideal if you are in need of a peaceful getaway. Plenty of country walks nearby, perfect for hikers and dog walkers alike!

The owners are friendly and helpful and care that you have a good holiday.

Traumhaft & erholsam/Perfect accomodation to relax

  • 5 of 5

Holiday-House at its best - it's perfect!

High-quality and functional equipment, clean and cozy to the smallest detail.

Fantastic location away from the hustle and bustle. Those who are looking for relaxation and peace - this is the place!

Good starting point for trips around North Wales.

With so much space and opportunities for long walks, just outside the front door, also our dog AYLA has felt wonderful.

Very friendly owners who will do everything to make you feel comfortable.

We would definitely come back.

Right by the Beach

  • 5 of 5

This house has a beautiful feel to it and the most wonderful position. As we cross the bridge from the car park for the short walk to Niwl-y-Mynydd, a sense of peace and happiness flows into us. This is the only place we know in North Wales where the houses are directly by the sea with no cars. On good days you can just step outside the door. On bad days you can sit inside and watch the wild weather. There never seems to be a whole day of rain and no need for the children to ask "when can we go to the beach?" We often have a before breakfast walk to Maen Dylan the big rock. The house has a welcoming feel with its traditional old seaside wooden panelled walls together with fully modernised bathroom and kitchen, all kept beautifully clean. The owners are always very helpful and have improved this house in lovely ways. There is no noise of cars, only the sea, no worry for the children playing out on the grass in front of the house. Once the tide is down, step across the pebbles at the top of the beach onto a long strand of sand for a good walk down to Maen Dylan and beyond. Occasionally we go off to other lovely places nearby like Llanbedrog, Plas yn Rhiw National Trust house, or Nefyn but we always come home to Niwl-y-Mynydd and enjoy the peace and beauty of this place. We have been going to this house for many years now, already booked for next Summer and we hope to go for many more years to come. We always have kept quiet about the house, as we wanted to make sure that we could book it for ourselves, but now the owners have kindly given us first option on booking for our next visits, we feel we can share about this magic place. Thank you Caroline and Tony.

relaxation heaven

  • 5 of 5

It was with much excitement that we returned to Aberdesach this year. Although we've been visiting this cottage for over 40 years, each time we come back there is always something new to discover. This time it was the new kitchen and bathroom which have been finished to an excellent standard. The shower is the best I've used in a long while. The decor in the whole bungalow is modern, comfortable and always very clean. There are 2 double (memory foam) beds and 2 twin beds which mean you get a very comfortable nights sleep and awake to undisturbed views of the beach.

Where to begin when talking about why we love this place so much? Aberdesach is the best kept secret in Wales, no cars driving past the door, just the most uplifting view of the beach and mountains, literally only a stones throw away. Because the weather was so good this year (even in April) we spent several days just relaxing around the bungalow, reading, playing games, unwinding from our busy lives. We usually try to fit in a climb up Snowdon, but with older relatives in tow, we took the steam train from Caernarfon to Porthmadog for the first time which had brilliant views through Snowdonia. We also visited Beddgelert for our annual award winning ice cream and walk down the river.

Every time we visit we find somewhere new to explore as well. There are adventures for every type of explorer: climbing in the mountains, quaint villages, seaside towns, steam trains, lakes with water sports........you name it, Snowdonia has it, all served by a good road network.

Caernarfon has a good selection of large supermarkets (unlike when we first used to visit!) and there is a small convenience store in the next village 1.5 mile away good for milk, bread and a newspaper.

I first visited Aberdesach when I was aged 3, with my parents. I've since had holidays as a teenager, with my own children (my son was just 3 weeks old on his first visit), friends and extended family (in their 70s/80s) and everyone has LOVED it. You will too!

I really don't want to write this glowing review because it will encourage you to visit, and as other people have said in their reviews, we want to keep this place secret for ourselves. Then we can have another 40 years enjoying our holidays here with friends and family.

Owner's Response: Thank you Suzanne, we really appreciate the time and effort you have put into writing this review. Little did we think that when your parents first went to the bungalow all those years ago, you and your family members would still be visiting Aberdesach and taking such pleasure from the surrounding areas.
