Liked a lot of things about this cottage, butt it also had its faults

  • 3 of 5

Kitchen on top floor was the best room at the cottage. Excellent having four bathrooms. Beds comfortable and good quality . unfortunately lounge was a disappointment. No wardrobe space and lower ground floor was also disappointing. Getting to the property wasn't easy. Very steep bank and even when you get to the bottom there is a steep pathway to door. The women of the group struggled. Luckily the pub/restauraunt the Cod and lobster that was just across the way served excellent food and that meant we ate there every evening .I think people of a certain age or anyone with mobility problems really need to think twice before renting the cottage.

Lovely propery - amazing views

  • 4 of 5

This property lived up to expectations from the description in all respects except the hot water system. It was wonderful having four bathrooms, but maybe that is too much to expect for this old house. For the first day we had no hot water, then someone (Nigel) came to fix it, but after that the pump was so noisy that three of us couldn't get to sleep till 3am on Saturday night.

On Sunday evening we didn't dare to use the hot water at all so the pump was less noisy but it still kept one of us awake which was a shame. I told Nigel about this and he said he would try to sort it out before the next guests came.

We were also unable to use the en-suite shower in the double bedroom on the floor below the kitchen, even once the hot water was sorted for the rest of the house, it was still cold.

It was my daughter-in-law's first time ever in a holiday home and it was slightly marred for her as she was the one who got hardly any sleep for two nights. It is a shame because otherwise it is a lovely house. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfortable, and the central position and wonderful views was amazing. The children loved the little alcove for watching telly. I would have liked a mirror in the basement bedroom as I had to go upstairs to another bedroom for the mirror and it would be very easy for someone to put up a small mirror.

I did like the heated floor in that bedroom.

We had great weather and we went out a lot, but if we had stayed in we would have appreciated the games provided. As it was, the fishing nets were very useful.

Winter break in Staithnes

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd stay at Ocean View in Staithes.

Staithes is a beautiful village on the coast which is a true hidden gem and break from stressful lives!

Ocean View provides excellent accommodation for 8 with lounge and kitchen providing ample communal space.

The house is always clean, well provided for in terms of kitchen necessities and linen and Amanda and the management team always very helpful.

We had a late arrival this time and the heating was on which in February was essential!! There have also been left items and the team have been so accommodating in reuniting us with them!!

We love it and will be returning again!!

Lovely Family Seaside Holiday

  • 4 of 5

We had a brilliant week in Ocean View. The cottage was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was perfect, so close to the sea, the children enjoyed being able to just pop back to the harbour after tea for a climb on the rocks or a paddle in the harbour. The views from the top floor are stunning, the kitchen is a lovely place to sit and enjoy them. Staithes is a delight and we also really enjoyed the beach at Runswick bay, the cliff top path from Staithes to there is about 3 miles with more stunning sea views. Would recommend Staithes as a destination in general and this cottage in particular.

Fantastic break in Staithes

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic weekend break at Ocean View House in Staithes. We loved the location, just a short walk from the beach and from the shops and pubs. My children especially loved the area having found out that Old Jack's Boat was filmed in Staithes. The property itself was also very comfortable and very well-furnished. The highlight was the wonderful kitchen/diner at the top of the property which had a magnificent view of the harbour!!! We would definitely love to come here again and with Whitby and Scarborough nearby there is a wide range of activities to do for both adults and children.

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic place to stay with amazing views from the kitchen. Well equipped with plenty of space. Staithes is very welcoming with plenty of choice of places to eat. Or you can shop at the friendly local butchers. We can recommend tea and cobble cake at the harbour tea shop. We will definitely return.
