Available individually or bookable together. Set in the grounds of a large domaine of 3.2 hectares (7.5 acres) with a small lake and the ruins of an old chapel, the gites provide quality appointed accommodation for a totally relaxing break. The pool, spa and terrace area with its gazebo and sun loungers offers the perfect place to relax in the sun or shade and enjoy a dip. The location is very peaceful, being in the heart of the countryside with the nearest village shops within an 8 minute drive. This is a beautiful region of France where vineyards and sunflowers abound. The area is wonderful for visiting the Cathar castles, the fairytale ancient cité of old Carcassonne and the "rose" city of Toulouse. We are just over an hour away from the Mediterranean and 2 hours from the Spanish border. Carcassonne airport can be reached within 30 minutes and Toulouse airport is one hour away.
Maria and Simon both took early retirement from teaching, Maria as a French teacher and Simon as Deputy Head, both from a large secondary sports college in Kent.
Maria first fell in love with the French culture and way of life while studying at the Sorbonne in Paris many years ago. Simon started to share her love of the country when they bought a holiday home in the Tarn which they owned for 6 years.
The dream of living and integrating into the local community is now a reality for them.
Simon & Maria Jenkins purchased this house in 2008
After an extensive period of research Maria and Simon chose the Aude due to its climate, history and culture, wonderful scenery and picturesque towns and villages.
Les Pics Blancs is close to the large city of Toulouse, the historic town of Carcassonne and is only an hour away from the Mediterranean beaches, skiing in the Pyrenees and 2 hours from the Spanish border.
Their house and gites are set in a beautifully quiet country location away from all of the crowds with views of the Pyrenees and yet within easy access of all amenities.
Les Pics Blancs benefits from its country location and the peace and tranquillity it offers whilst being close to a wealth and variety of every conceivable requirement one could ask for.
If sport is your interest, golf, skiing, tennis, football, rugby etc are all close. Culture and the arts thrive in many of the local communities as well as in the larger centres of Toulouse and Carcassonne. The countryside is beautiful and spectacular, with its mountains, gorges, caves, canals and rivers offering ramblers, painters, naturalists, cyclists and many others a dream environment in which to explore. For historians the history of the Cathars is enshrined in the area with lots of interesting sights to visit.
Quite simply it is an ideal location for a holiday for everyone.
“The gite was even more beautiful than the pictures could portray on the website and was so well equipped, nothing was left wanting.” P & M, Co Cork, Eire
“Les Pics Blancs - what a beautiful place the minute you set eyes on it! Certainly the best equipped gite we have stayed in over the last 12 years holidaying in France - couldn't ask for more. And the pool ......” L & P, Ashford, Middlesex
“What a fantastic two weeks ---- so have had to book again for next year.” C & S, Dorset
“Fabulous accommodation, well equipped with great attention to detail. A peaceful, restful break – close enough to local areas to get out and about but equally far enough away from it all” P & A, West Midlands.
“We agree with others who have said that this is the best equipped – indeed the best gîte – that we have ever stayed in.” G & T, South Wales
“We absolutely loved the accommodation, what a location!" P & A, Worcester.

Simon and Marie are great hosts and have two lovely gites. They had thought of everything we might need, even down to beach toys should we want to build sand castles on the coast! Plenty of things to do and visit in surrounding area but equally good to just laze and wind down in the house, pool and grounds.
