The Lamia (typical local rectangular building), next to the trulli house Melograno, more recent and completely renovated and part of the structure, is perfect for 2/4 persons. It has a bedroom with queen bed and a living area with a completely equipped kitchenette and a sofa bed (2 persons). The large windows of the living area look out on a patio from where you can enjoy the romantic view of the valley.
The swimming pool is shared with the occupants of the "Melograno".
Our trulli houses were built in about 1780. Originally they were the country houses of the farmers who used them also as tool sheds and barns for the cattle. They have been renovated in accordance with the traditional rules; local builders called ‘trullari’ have worked to recreate the original structure. The trulli houses are situated close the town of Ceglie Messapica. The landscape that surrounds the trulli houses is a rare beauty: from here you can admire a green valley of olive-trees. The wonderful geographical position makes this place the perfect starting-point for those who want to do some trekking or make relaxing naturalistic, cultural or enogastronomical trips. The Adriatic Coast and its wonderful beaches are only 11 miles away.
We stayed in the lamia and had the whole 2hectares and pool to ourselves which was nice. The owners told us to help ourselves to fruit on the trees. I was October so the weather was cooling and the air quite humid and the lamia was quite damp. There was also no 'lounge' area with comfy seating so we used pillows on the wooden sofa bed. During our second week we put the heating on for half an hour in the morning and evening on some days to try and counteract the damp and that cost us €40. Hubby fixed the shower, radiators and loo seat while we were there. Definitely a summer only place, but great for relaxing as it was very peaceful.
