Spacious Apartment With Balcony And Sea Views 8 min walk to beach or harbour

Overview

Property

Updated: 25-Nov-2016
Well equipped 2 Bedroom Apartment in Postira 8 Minutes Walk To A Delightful Beach With Cafe Restauran

This apartment is beautifully furnished & equipped with lovely views from the balcony out to sea to a backdrop of mountains beyond. It is only an 8 minute walk to a delightful beach with a cafe restaurant & facilities - see pictures. Also has very well stocked supermarket only 1 minute walk from the apartment which is open long hours and extremely convenient with helpful and friendly staff.

Brac is a beautiful island & Postira a charming fishing village with cafes and bars surrounding a picturesque harbour. The atmosphere is very friendly. There is an open air market & several supermarkets that cater for your daily needs. The crystal clear waters are ideal for swimming and snorkelling. You can hire boats or take boat trips to the neighbouring island of Hvar or the mainland, i.e. to the walled city of Trogir a UNESCO Heritage site and to Omis and the river Cetina for white-water rafting! Activities on offer are diving, sea-kayaking, windsurfing, pedaloes, organised walks, fish picnics, fishing trips There are delightful walks along the coast 2 km in either direction - west to Splitska and east to Lovrecina, which boasts the only sandy beach on the island.

If you master the bus timetable there are trips all over the island and the bus stop is one minute from the apartment. Would recommend trip to Bol on the other side of the island or just along the coast to Pucisca to see the Sculpture school where you can often see the trainee sculpters at work or back to Supetar where the ferry docks for a more lively experience.

About the Owner

Diane and John Hope first visited Brac in 2006 and loved the place so much, rather rashly put a deposit on a hole in the ground. A few years passed but now we are proud owners of a beautiful apartment which we visit as often as we can.

Last year we took our son and his partner who was expecting our first grandchild - as in the photo - and Ruby duly arrived last September.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have many glowing testimonials in our visitors book in the apartment and will be happy to put you in touch with people who have stayed - several of whom have come back year after year.

Fantastic apartment with a beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

The photos certainly don't do this apartment enough justice, we were hugely impressed with how spacious, well presented and equipped it was, everything you need for a perfect break! The balcony is spacious enough for four to sit and enjoy the beautiful sunset as we did every night, the view across to the mainland is wonderful too. Its elevated position does mean you have a fairly steep walk from the beach or nearby harbour but to be honest it was a great way to walk off all the delicious food! We found the island to be really good value, the conversion was about 10 kuna to the pound, typical evening meal was 100 kuna per person and you'd eat very well for that. The fish platters are amazing! Drinks are unbelievably cheap, definitely not worth ordering a small beer when the large (75cl) is only about £1.60, and the beer is good! Spirits and wine are also cheap and good, we only bought ours from the bars and restaurants but you can get it from the locals who have signs outside, will give that a try next time.

We hired quad bikes for three days to explore the island which was great fun. We planned to hire from supetar but found one of the companies has a smaller outlet down by the harbour and although they didn't have exactly what we wanted on site they arranged for it to be delivered the following day, I'd recommend planning a day or so before you need it just to be sure. Hire costs were again good value. We got to visit Bol, the most touristy place we saw but worth the visit. Also saw Milna, Supetar, Lovrecina. This is a beautiful island and we were not disappointed wherever we went. I thought twice about writing this review because I'd love to keep this place a secret but it's too good to keep quiet!

John, Diane, thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us, we'd certainly love to go back!

Owner's Response: Many thanks Dawn and Gary for your lovely review. We are just so pleased that you loved it there as much as we do. When we first visited we couldn't believe our luck in finding such a gem of a place and delighted when our rather rash purchase of our apartment - just a hole in the ground at the time - worked out so brilliantly. Thanks again. Diane and John

Great apartment by the sea

  • 4 of 5

This is a great, well-equipped apartment for those wanting to stay in a beautiful, quiet part of Brac. The town of Postira is beautiful with some lovely restaurants and within 5 mins drive of the fantastic village of Bol. Whilst simple in design, the apartment contained all we needed for our 1 week stay with 2 young children. Be aware that it is situated at the top of a very steep hill which means great views back to the mainland but a long walk home with small children after a busy day on the beach. However, there is a great local beach within 1 min drive, with ample parking, a beach bar and equipment hire. We also recommend the helpful attitude of both the owner and the owners representative on the island.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your lovely review. Much appreciated. Think you meant Dol which is lovely and historic little village only five minutes drive away. Bol is other side of Island and is about an hours drive. Is an easy mistake to make. Anyway many thanks for your kind words Regards Diane

Lovely Apartment

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our week in Postira and hope to visit again. Brac is a lovely island and having explored other parts of the island felt that Postira is a perfect base. The apartment is clean and comfortable with a nice view from the balcony looking over to the mainland. It is very well located as only a short walk to the centre of town or the nearest bay. Diane was very helpful in providing lots of useful information about travelling to the island.

Location

From the Owner

We love the scenery and the way of life. We have made many friends with the locals who are very welcoming and love to practice their English - which is just as well as Croatian is a very difficult language, although that may be just us. It is just a few minutes walk to several lovely bays or down into the town. Longer walks along the coast, either to Splitska or Lovrecina are very pleasant. Very easy to get the ferry across to Split and perhaps drive down the coast or go inland. So much to see and do. Also great to just chill out locally - perhaps with a glass of the locally brewed wine - just take your empty bottle along where you see vino sign and they will fill it up for a few Kuna.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

There are a variety of beaches and bays within 8 minutes walk from the apartment. Our favourite has a beach bar providing snacks, drinks and ice creams and you can also hire beach chairs and shades there. There are many other bays along the coast and lovely bathing and swimming areas in Postira itself either side of the small harbour. The beaches mostly have pebbles but, if you like to walk, or take a car, to Lovrecina you will find the only sandy beach on the island.

Travel:

Split is the nearest airport. You then take the airport bus for a 30 minute ride to Split port where you board the ferry to Brac. The ferry takes about 50 minutes to get to Supetar on the Island and from there it is a 15 minute taxi or car ride to the apartment in Postira.

Distances:

It is a 10 minute walk to the harbour of Postira.

Further Details:

There is a very well stocked supermarket within one minute walk of the apartment. Also just 1 minute from bus stop for local bus service which is very reliable - once you understand the timetable! There is also a very helpful Tourist Office in Postira to give you up to date information. I have also put lot of information in the apartment about various activities and places of interest.
