Beautiful spacious airy townhouse near to the coast at Oistins, safe and private with shared swimming pool.

'Morning Glory' is a spacious and stylish 2 bedroom townhouse, purchased new in 2008, positioned close to the South Coast. Situated in a small select development of just 6 properties, within an attractive residential setting, in private well-maintained landscaped grounds with electronic gate. Very well equipped, with a/c in both bedrooms. Airy and open plan ground floor. 1.5 bathrooms. Will sleep 4, or 6 using a sofa bed. Ideal location, only 5 minutes drive from the airport, shops, restaurants, and spectacular Miami Beach with soft white sands and sparkling turquoise sea. This beach is fine for swimming and everything you need is provided, sun beds and umbrellas for hire, picnic tables in the shade, refreshments stall, and shower/wc facilities, and you can also park for free right beside the beach! Shared 28ft swimming pool in the gardens. Private secure parking. Balcony with ocean view, overlooking Barbados golf course. French windows to garden with furniture/loungers/barbecue for dining alfresco.

About Judie Kingdom

We are Judie and Patrick. I am originally from Surrey and Patrick from Yorkshire. Much of my childhood and early life was lived in Wales, and Patrick comes from an Irish family, but was born and has lived all his life in Yorkshire. His father was a doctor who came to work in Sheffield as a GP in the 1950s. I have also lived in Devon. Patrick and I have been together since 1982 and have one grown up son. I also have two older children who live in Essex and Germany, and who have provided me with three lovely grandchildren. I am a retired librarian, having worked in both public libraries and in the Arts, Film and Media section of Sheffield Hallam University Learning Centre. These days we are rather nomadic! We both enjoy travel, reading, Scrabble, crosswords, cooking and wine!

Why Judie Kingdom chose Newton Terrace

We loved the position of 'Morning Glory' being in an attractive residential location, close to Barbados Golf Club, our favourite Miami Beach, and a short 5 minute hop from the airport. The area is very safe and select and relaxing.

The house is most attractive with everything of a very high quality.

We appreciated having both a first floor balcony and a ground floor terrace. It is lovely to have the freedom and space of a whole house rather than an apartment.

What makes this house unique

We so enjoy dining alfresco which can be every night in Barbados! It is also lovely to be able to take a dip in the pool at any time of the day or night.

The shops just 3 minutes away at Oistins are excellent and include a really good supermarket, which stocks everything that one needs.

We really enjoy watching the planes arrive in Barbados from our terrace. They are just close enough to distinguish the airlines, but not near enough to produce any noise!

Notes on accommodation: The property has ceramic floor tiles throughout, including the stairs, glass topped tables and French windows. We welcome children, but this might be a problem for little toddlers wobbly on their feet! Outside: 'Morning Glory' is situated within the select residential area of Durants, close to Barbados Golf Club. It lies in attractive communal landscaped grounds, a driveway up to the house being entered via double electronic gates. There is a lovely well maintained 28ft swimming pool to the rear of the property. Although it is shared between the 6 properties in the development, it is seldom used, so very quiet. There are French windows leading out to the front garden where there is a small terrace with an outdoor table, chairs and sun loungers, having ample outdoor lighting, making it ideal for dining alfresco. A barbecue is provided. There is a lawned area to the front of the house, and also a private car parking space. Utility Room: The utility room houses an iron and ironing board, step ladder, and cleaning materials. There are no laundry facilities. However our Property Manager can arrange a laundry service if required at an extra charge. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, beach towels, bath mats and bed linen are included. The property is thoroughly cleaned before guests arrive, and all bed linen and all towels, are changed weekly thereafter, or more frequently by arrangement at extra cost. Other: There is a large windowed landing/study area with a double sofa bed. If preferred the bed could alternatively be placed in the larger bedroom, or in the downstairs living area.

Lovely property, fantastic pool, car essential

The house is in a lovely neighbourhood, feeling very safe with friendly neighbours. We literally had the pool completely to ourselves. We swam every day and never saw a single person there!!

The house had everything you would need, plenty of towels and bedding. I do think it would have been handy to have a washing machine though.

The house is huge! For a family of three we had more than enough space.

We would definitely stay here again, great communication with the owner, very helpful with any questions we had.

Only small negatives were , the size of the TV in the living room, it is very small! You have to squint to watch it from the sofa!!!

With a bit of TLC this place could be really special, a lick of paint would make all the difference!!

Owner's Response: We do plan some interior re-decoration and TLC the next time we are over in Barbados, probably early 2019. Our prices have been temporarily reduced to reflect that there has been some wear and tear, which needs to be remedied. The TV could be bigger - but it is not much used as our guests are mostly on the beach, in the pool, or out on the town! We do strongly recommend a car as it is so very convenient for exploring the island, but there are plenty of local taxis, and hourly buses running to the beach, which is only a short distance, yet it's uphill on the way back, so only walkable for the young and hearty!

Holiday of a lifetime!

Having never been to Barbados before, we had no idea what to expect. I can now safely say it's the best place I've ever visited!

Morning Glory is ideally situated, away from the main tourist areas, in the heart of 'real' Bajan life. We quickly found our bearings - it's a short walk to the main road leading down to the beach, where you can catch buses, taxis - or the hybrid taxi-buses - to anywhere on the island. The bus journeys became one of our favourite things about the holiday - it's an unforgettable experience!

The house itself has everything you need; the living space downstairs is spacious, and the air con in the two bedrooms works wonderfully. The two double beds are very comfortable; the sofa-bed was less so, but this might be because it's more suitable for a child/teenager rather than an adult. As other reviews have mentioned, the shared pool is a lovely addition, and we had it to ourselves every time we used it.

Unlike other guests, we didn't rent a car - we found that this wasn't a hindrance at all due to the public transport. We made friends with a local taxi driver - Damien - (we left his card in the information book in the house - he was fantastic) who was happy to come and pick us up any time that we weren't able to get a bus (or were feeling a bit lazy!) and it meant all of us could enjoy the local rum punch without someone having to be the designated driver.

We saw a number of different beaches while we were on the island. All of them were beautiful, but we liked Miami beach - "our beach", as we came to call it - the most. There is plenty of shade for those who want to stay out of the sun, sun loungers for hire at a very reasonable price, and various food and drink options available nearby.

We are already dreaming about our next trip to Barbados, and would love to stay at Morning Glory again. We felt truly immersed in Bajan life - sitting on the front porch of an evening, drink in hand, was a lovely way to end the day. The house is a great base for exploring the island; I'd recommend it to anyone considering a holiday in Barbados :)

Stayed at “Morning Glory” for two weeks

We enjoyed our stay at Morning Glory. There is lots of space and it is very quiet. Short walk to the bus stop if you want to take public transportation but renting a car is a good idea from this location. Barbados golf club is very close. Actually walked on hole twelve then to clubhouse from there. Takes about 10 mins. Pizza in the clubhouse is really quite good. However they no longer deliver but you can eat there in a lovely outdoor setting next to the course or take it to go. Pool is clean and no one else used it while we were there. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals, which we did a lot, and everything worked fine. This is very reasonably priced so don’t expect super luxury but everything was good. Great communication with the owner and property manager. One of the air conditioners broke down but was fixed promptly the next day as well as the shower. Overall a good experience and we would return.

Very relaxing getaway

Our family of 3 had a great, very relaxing vacation here. Townhome is in a great spot, safe small gated complex very close to the airport and about 5 minute drive to some very nice beaches. We rented a car which I highly suggest. Short drive down the highway to St Lawrence gap, where we had a few wonderful dinners. Air conditioning in bedrooms worked very well and downstairs living area was comfortable with the windows open. We used the pool every day and had it all to ourselves. Tv could be bigger although we don’t go on vacation to watch tv anyway. We were ready to come back to Morning Glory as soon as we got home, had a fantastic time! Thank you Judie!

In love now with Barbados

We arrived at night, in the dark by the time we had picked up our car. The house was ready for us & the outside light had been left on. We slept well as the air conditioning worked well. A pack of information was very helpful & so we were able to eat out at good interesting places & buy our shopping for our everyday needs. The pack of information was very well used so perhaps could do with a new folder.

We loved swimming in the pool which we had to ourselves, just speaking to the very friendly neighbours when we saw them. Loungers would have been nice but we were happily lounging on the beautiful beaches all day so an evening swim was really what we wanted.

We found the car was for us a necessity as we are possibly a bit older than most guests. We did use a taxi a couple of times for dinners out though we also enjoyed using the BBQ provided. We also cooked in couple of times & found all we needed for that though a dishwasher might have been nice. No problem really just washing a few pots.

We had no need for contact with the manager of the property. I believe the owners were English so perhaps had not been for a while themselves which is perhaps why you could tell the property was cared for but not loved. We could easily have stayed for a month though we were not able to change our flights so we're unable to even if the house had been available. We did actually look into doing this but BA were inflexible. Sadly we had to go home after our 10 days were up.

We hope to return again to continue our wonderful relaxing holiday.

Really relaxing holiday

We thought the location couldn't have been better, being near a good, locals' fish market and a beach with more gentle sea and not surrounded by tourists. We barbequed freshly caught fish at home on a couple of evenings and we really loved eating breakfast on the bedroom balcony.

Our hire car ( a necessity I think) gave us a freedom which we loved and driving around the island is very easy.

We were more than happy with our temporary home ( not sure why it was reviewed so harshly) and are already talking about returning.

Coast/Beach:

Just a 3 minute drive to the fishing village of Oistins and a 5 minute drive to a fabulous beach, with free parking alongside the sands. This is the spectacular Miami Beach at Enterprise on the South Coast. A wonderful white sand beach where the sea is a brilliant turquoise. Everything you might need is here -sun beds, parasols, refreshments, excellent shower and WC facilities, shaded picnic tables, and also Cafe Luna overlooking the beach is one of the very best restaurants on the island!

Travel:

Easy 5 minute drive from the airport. Car hire strongly recommended, but good bus service available. Buses travel all over the island, and an hourly service goes right to Miami Beach, which just takes a few minutes to get there.

Distances:

Close to shops, restaurants, a great supermarket, pharmacy, cash points, etc., all just 3 minutes drive away in Oistins. Only 10 minute drive to St Lawrence Gap, glitzy nightlife beside the sea. A 20 minute drive to the capital Bridgetown. Ideal position for exploring the island by hire car or by using the local bus services. Bus stop just a 400 yard level walk from 'Morning Glory'.
