Beautiful spacious airy townhouse near to the coast at Oistins, safe and private with shared swimming pool.

'Morning Glory' is a new spacious and stylish 2 bedroom townhouse positioned close to the South Coast. Situated in a small select development of just 6 properties, within an attractive residential setting, in private well-maintained landscaped grounds with electronic gate. Very well equipped, with a/c in both bedrooms. Airy and open plan ground floor. 1.5 bathrooms. Will sleep 4, or 6 using a sofa bed. Ideal location, only 5 minutes drive from the airport, shops, restaurants, and spectacular Miami Beach with soft white sands and sparkling turquoise sea. This beach is fine for swimming and everything you need is provided, sun beds and umbrellas for hire, picnic tables in the shade, refreshments stall, and shower/wc facilities, and you can also park for free right beside the beach! Shared 28ft swimming pool in the gardens. Private secure parking. Balcony with ocean view, overlooking Barbados golf course. French windows to garden with furniture/loungers/barbecue for dining alfresco.

About the Owner

We are Judie and Patrick. I am originally from Surrey and Patrick from Yorkshire. Much of my childhood and early life was lived in Wales, and Patrick comes from an Irish family, but was born and has lived all his life in Yorkshire. His father was a doctor who came to work in Sheffield as a GP in the 1950s. I have also lived in Devon. Patrick and I have been together since 1982 and have one grown up son. I also have two older children who live in Essex and Germany, and who have provided me with three lovely grandchildren. I am a retired librarian, having worked in both public libraries and in the Arts, Film and Media section of Sheffield Hallam University Learning Centre. These days we are rather nomadic! We both enjoy travel, reading, Scrabble, crosswords, cooking and wine!

Excellent apartment in Barbados

We rented an apartment for two weeks for our family stay in Barbados, we would highly recommend the apartment as it was great for us with a family. It took a matter of only a few minutes drive to get from the airport to the apartment which was an added bonus, the facilities were great with everything you need on hand. Location was ideal within 5 mins drive from oistins.

Great house, good location

We stayed at Morning Glory the last two weeks of January 2015.

The house is very airy, clean, spacious and comfortable and the air conditioning in the bedroom worked a treat. We were easily able to cook our own meals in the kitchen area where there was a wide selection of equipment. We never used the pool, although it looked clean and well maintained, but preferred to swim down at Miami (plenty of natural shade) or Enterprise Beach down in Oistins.

We didn't hire a car, but relied on the local buses to get around the island. The bus timetables were a little erratic, but we got used to this, and since we were on holiday it didn't really matter about times!

The bus stop for Oistins is only a short walk from Morning Glory, and the bus (No. 26) came roughly every hour. (In our opinion there is no way you would want to walk down to Oistins, as there are virtually no pavements and the road is very busy with a constant stream of vehicles.) Once you get down to Oistins it is possible to get buses quite easily to other parts of the island. (Renting a car would of course have distinct advantages!)

Barbados Golf Club is close by and we enjoyed several meals at the clubhouse after walking around the perimeter pathway. (Happy Hour was 6-7 p.m. by the way!)

Margaret, who lives next door to Morning Glory, is a lovely lady and was helpful in every way.

We recommend this property as a great place to stay in Barbados! Also quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle!

Morning Glory - ous!

We have just returned from a blissful 2 week stay at this townhouse. We found this house to be ideal for the 5 of us, as it was spacious, with a very nice pool and seating area. Right from the onset we were made to feel welcome from Anna and Paul and their delightful two children, nothing was too much trouble to sort out or arrange, by the second week we felt we were locals! We found the location of the house to be perfect, not only for entertaining our many relatives that live on the island but also for its peace and quiet but not too far from the nightlife as taxi's are plentiful, St Lawrence Gap (approx 20 dollars in taxi) and the Friday night fish fry at Oistins (approx 15 dollars via taxi), or if you prefer 2 dollars on the local bus. Looking forward to my next visit as I would definately stay at Morning Glory again.

Spacious and great value for money.

We stayed at 'Morning Glory' for 2 weeks and found the property to be clean, spacious and really well equipped. We have family in Barbados and our visitors were welcomed by our lovely neighbours Anna and Paul who were helpful and friendly at all times. Please pass on our thanks.

We rented a car and found the walk to the beach would have been too far for us, with young children, but with a car, everything was easy to get to.

The only improvements we could have suggested had nothing to do with the property as such, but we found internet access only worked upstairs which limited where we could use it but it was only as we had a young baby that we spent time at home using the net...the beach is a much better way to spend a holiday!

We would definitely stay at the house again and thank you for the information you provided beforehand.

Peaceful Retreat

Stayed at Morning Glory for 4 days, found the house to be very homely, spacious, bright and airy. The information folder was very detailed and helpful with lots of useful information about the area etc. Found abundance of various toiletries, sun lotions etc left by previous holiday makers useful and is a great idea. The pool area was peaceful/relaxing and we had it to ourselves during our stay. Anna and Paul were always available if we needed anything and kindly offered us lifts if we wanted to go anywhere. The buses were very frequent into Oistins and the beaches, however we enjoyed the walk which took us approx 25 minutes encountering many friendly local people on the way. There were a couple of friendly bars between Morning Glory and the beach. The Friday night fish fry in Oistins is well worth a visit. We would definitely stay here again.

Great value for money

It was our first time in Barbados and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Morning Glory is a good value for money property, it was clean, 2 good sized bedrooms, quiet and very well air conditioned. The obvious downside is it's location away from the beaches although tbh that was only a small problem for us. I would recommend this villa, however it is very important you have use of a car although the local bus service is excellent and very cheap. I would happily stay there again.

We loved the position of 'Morning Glory' being in an attractive residential location, close to Barbados Golf Club, our favourite Miami Beach, and a short 5 minute hop from the airport. The house is most attractive with everything of a very high quality. We appreciated having both a first floor balcony and a ground floor terrace. It is lovely to have the freedom and space of a whole house rather than an apartment.

Coast/Beach:

Just a 3 minute drive to the fishing village of Oistins and a 5 minute drive to a fabulous beach, with free parking alongside the sands. This is the spectacular Miami Beach at Enterprise on the South Coast. A wonderful white sand beach where the sea is a brilliant turquoise. Everything you might need is here -sun beds, parasols, refreshments, excellent shower and WC facilities, shaded picnic tables, and also Cafe Luna overlooking the beach is one of the very best restaurants on the island!

Travel:

Easy 5 minute drive from the airport. Car hire strongly recommended, but good bus service available. Buses travel all over the island, and an hourly service goes right to Miami Beach, which just takes a few minutes to get there.

Distances:

Close to shops, restaurants, a great supermarket, pharmacy, cash points, etc., all just 3 minutes drive away in Oistins. Only 10 minute drive to St Lawrence Gap, glitzy nightlife beside the sea. A 20 minute drive to the capital Bridgetown. Ideal position for exploring the island by hire car or by using the local bus services. Bus stop just a 400 yard level walk from 'Morning Glory'.

We so enjoy dining alfresco which can be every night in Barbados! It is also lovely to be able to take a dip in the pool at any time of the day or night. The shops just 3 minutes away at Oistins are excellent and include a really good supermarket, which stocks everything that one needs. We really enjoy watching the planes arrive in Barbados from our terrace. They are just close enough to distinguish the airlines, but not near enough to produce any noise!

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The property has ceramic floor tiles throughout, including the stairs, glass topped tables and French windows. We welcome children, but this might be a problem for little toddlers wobbly on their feet! Outside: 'Morning Glory' is situated within the select residential area of Durants, close to Barbados Golf Club. It lies in attractive communal landscaped grounds, a driveway up to the house being entered via double electronic gates. There is a lovely well maintained 28ft swimming pool to the rear of the property. Although it is shared between the 6 properties in the development, it is seldom used, so very quiet. There are French windows leading out to the front garden where there is a small terrace with an outdoor table, chairs and sun loungers, having ample outdoor lighting, making it ideal for dining alfresco. A barbecue is provided. There is a lawned area to the front of the house, and also a private car parking space. Utility Room: The utility room houses an iron and ironing board, step ladder, and cleaning materials. There are no laundry facilities. However our Property Manager can arrange a laundry service if required at an extra charge. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, beach towels, bath mats and bed linen are included. The property is thoroughly cleaned before guests arrive, and all bed linen and all towels, are changed weekly thereafter, or more frequently by arrangement at extra cost. Other: There is a large windowed landing/study area with a double sofa bed. If preferred the bed could alternatively be placed in the larger bedroom, or in the downstairs living area.
