Cote D’Azur Holiday Apartment ideal for a relaxed holiday by the Mediterranean

Overview

Property

Updated: 23-Nov-2016
Apartment in Cavaliere, Le Lavandou, Var, France - 300m From The Beach

A modern apartment comprising entrance hall with bunks, bathroom, separate WC, living room with double sofa bed and kitchen area, one double bedroom, balcony with rural views. The balcony is approx 8 square metres with a table and six chairs for entertaining. The umbrella and cushions are in navy and white. The flat has its own designated parking space opposite the front door. As the development is on an incline, the front door is at ground level and the rear balcony is on the first floor. The apartment faces south and overlooks hills planted with trees and shrubs. The building has recently been decorated. The gardens and buildings are kept in excellent condition. We installed a new kitchen area in 2014, new sliding doors on to the balcony in 2013 and a new bathroom in 2015.

About the Owner

We live in the countryside in England and decided that the seaside would provide a different experience for everyone. Our children who are now in their late twenties and early thirties still come with their friends and partners. I teach French and therefore love to visit France every year to practise my French.

Our second stay, and very enjoyable again.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our second stay in this apartment. It is well enough equipped for us [couple with young child], and the owner's information pack is very clear and helpful. It is only a short walk to the beach and shops. We particularly appreciate the location, as the apartment has a cooler feel to it: the balcony only having direct sun at breakfast time. Thanks again.

Relaxing holiday

  • 4 of 5

We loved this apartment. It is located within 5 mins of beach, shops, restaurants and bus stops. The old railway which is now a cycle/ walking track goes in both directions and was worth exploring. We caught the bus to Le Lavandou and St Tropez markets €1.50 also to Cavalaire Sur Mer, they are all worth a visit. We ate in some nights on the spacious balcony and listened to the birds. Everything was very nice in the apartment and it is well fitted out. We ate at the local restaurants and loved watching the locals play boule in the centre of Cavaliere, while eating fantastic ice cream. We hope to go again to this relaxing apartment. Thank you for sharing it with us and your friendly advice.Rick and Sue.

Owner's Response: Dear Both Thank you so much for your review. I am delighted you had a relaxing holiday and that you enjoyed Cavaliere and the surrounding area. It is very beautiful and relatively unspoilt for the South of France. We should be delighted to welcome you back another time. Many of our guests this year have been to the fiat before and we are always happy to see people returning. Ann

An excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Our tenth stay in this apartment has never failed to impress. Recent upgrades have further enhanced the accommodation. The location is ideal for every taste having local bars and restaurants as well as a superb beach all within a very short 5 min walk from the property. The area is ideal as it has many different attractions and activities available.

The owner provides excellent service and is always helpful with assistance and advice. The property is well maintained and clean with all that you need for a pleasant stay.

I have and would recommend this apartment to anyone, we will be booking again.

Cavaliere

  • 5 of 5

The facilities are basics and clean but more than adequate and I'm sure, like us, you will spend the majority of your time on the beach, or enjoying Cavaliere, Le Lavandou, Bormes les Mimosa and even St Tropez.

The apartment is so close to Cavaliere beach and a nice walk or short drive to many other beaches. There are great bakeries and small shops close by but large supermarkets are in nearby Le Lavandou for bigger shops. Many local restaurants, bars and shops are in easy walking distance. There is a sailing school on beach and several golf courses a short drive away and numerous vineyards in the area.

We traveled out as far as Monaco with its opulent lifestyle during the day and then enjoyed a very relaxing evening sitting on the terrace just listening to the crickets under the stars. We hope to go back next year for two weeks as it is a place to just unwind. Looking forward to returning thank you Ann for allowing us to stay in your hide away in the sun.

A lovely holiday

  • 4 of 5

We found the apartment to be exactly as described and was clean and well appointed. The location is really great as it is close to many lovely beaches, pretty hilltop medieval towns and attractive ports. We enjoyed our evening walks down to the beach to watch the sunset over the sea - fantastic- and the morning bakery run! Customer service from the owners was excellent; they were quick to get back to us and confirm our booking. This was the first of a two-week holiday and was a lovely relaxing break in a peaceful and attractive area.

Cavaliere

  • 4 of 5

We regularly return to this delightful apartment set in a lovely complex just a few minutes walk from the centre of Cavaliere and its beautiful beach. The apartment itself is light airy and comfortable with a lovely outside balcony area for eating and relaxing.

There is a wonderful coastal walk to La Lavandou and many great locations, such as St Tropez, are within short driving distances. All of which made for a wonderful stay, many thanks.

Location

From the Owner

We love this part of France. We are so near the beach and enjoy the Mediterraen sun at all times of the year. It is relatively unspoilt when compared with most of the Cote d'Azur and is a resort enjoyed mainly by French families. Of course we do have some English and Italian visitors but for the moment it is a well kept secret from the masses!!! The countryside too is lovely with the wonderful Maures mountains in the background and with many delightful places to visit.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Toulon/Hyeres at 27 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Cavaliere at 300 Metres Nearest Train : Toulon TGV at 27 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Cavaliere at 300 Metres Nearest Beach : Cavaliere at 300 Metres Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Cavaliere has a lovely sandy beach, from which one may swim, sail, wind surf, paraglide, waterski etc.

Travel:

Toulon/Hyeres airport 27km. Nice airport 125km. Marseille airport 135km (Ryan Air and Easy Jet) Flybe are now flying from Bournemouth to Toulon. Car hire recommended, though you can reach Cavaliere by bus from Toulon/Hyeres Airport. Alternatively we often drive down to Cavaliere sometimes via the motorway and sometimes on the A roads taking time to visit places of interest in France on the way.

Distances:

Le Lavandou 6.5km. Bormes Les Mimosas 9km. Hyeres 29km.

St Tropez 32km. Cannes 104km.

Further Details:

Tennis courts may be hired at the tennis club where there is also a gourmet restaurant (owned by a highly acclaimed French chef who has recently returned to the area ) and a swimming pool. Bicycles may be hired in the village and the old railway line is now a coastal cycle track and walkway.

Shopping is very convenient with two boulangeries, a post office, a tourist information office and two small supermarkets in the village . There are also several other shops selling gifts, beach clothes, newspapers, books etc, and some restaurants, bars and a pizzeria. In Le Lavandou there are three large supermarkets, a range of shops and many delightful restaurants. There is a very good self service launderette in Cavaliere and dry cleaning facilities in Le Lavandou.

Cavaliere is one of twelve beaches in the commune of Le Lavandou and is situated on a protected coastline. The area benefits from a mild climate in winter with lush semi-tropical vegetation. From Le Lavandou and also from Presqu'ile de Gien you can take a ferry to the islands of Porquerolles, Port Cros and Le Levant. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed lunch at the local restaurants and the excellent walking and cycling tracks on the islands. On Porquerolles you can hire bicycles and Port Cros it is particularly suitable for walking as there are no cars.

To the west you can visit Bormes Les Mimosas, an ancient hilltop medieval village famous for its mimosa, which flowers from January to March, with views of the sea and the islands. Hyeres, an old medieval town, has a casino, a racecourse and some wonderful public gardens and large avenues lined with its famous palm trees.

To the east is Le Rayol, with its spectacular, restored Edwardian garden and arboretum which sweeps down to the sea. This garden was first created in 1910 but fell into disrepair in the 1960s. In 1989 it was acquired by the Conservatoire du Littoral and the restoration began. Musical soirees and plant fairs take place during the tourist season.

Beyond lie St Tropez, Port Grimaud and the rest of the Cote d'Azur. St Tropez and its peninsular are a delight to visit. Beautiful scenery and views. In St Tropez there are some excellent shops and a typical provencal market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. There is a small museum called the Annonciade which is worth visiting and of course the stunning yachts in the harbour. Nearby are several hill top villages like Gassin, Grimaud and Ramatuelle, all set amongst the vineyards.

Behind the coast is the Maures Massif, covered in huge forests, an important centre for the production of cork. Its capital Collobrieres, home of the chestnut and ‘marrons glaces’, is a charming village and well worth a visit.

Notes:

  • Outside: The balcony is 8sqm and is large enough to seat six people comfortably around the table. The parking space is immediately outside the front door. Towels and linen are not included, but hire can be arranged through one of the shops in the village or if available I have a small amount of bed linen which I can offer. Most people bring their own sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases and towels. I provide duvets, pillows and some cotton blankets free of charge. If I provide the bed linen (sheets etc) a small charge to cover laundry and wear and tear is made. We do not have a cleaner and each group of guests clean the flat on departure. This has worked well for over 25 years. We can be flexible on changeover dates and the number of nights visitors want to stay especially out of season.
