Our recently refurbished property has three bedrooms, two with king size beds and one with twin beds and a cot. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom. All bedroom have air conditioning. As well as curtains there are shutters which can be closed to keep out the light and heat if required. Hair dryers are provided in all bedrooms. In the twin bedroom is a television with a dvd player and Wii to keep the children amused. In this part of the house there is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen is very well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, oven, hob, blender and plenty of cooking utensils. The sitting room has leather sofas and chairs, and new dining furniture and wall units which house wide screen tv with dvd player and internet television programmes. There is also a further dining table and chairs on the terrace along with the bbq. This has views over the whole of the Bay of Roses and is a superb place to sit and relax. The 8 x 4 metre pool has steps at one end for easy access and six sun beds and three large parasols for sunbathing. away from the pool if required. There are further sunbeds around the garden for relaxing The local village of Palau Saverdera has bakers, grocers, butchers, ATM along with excellent restaurants. Slightly further away (about 5 minute drive) there is the water park, go-karting, horse riding and of course the beautiful beaches, water sports and amenities of Roses, Empuriabrava, Cadaques, Llanca, Port de la Selva and more. All forms of water sport are available including water skiing, wind surfing, kite boarding, scuba diving, snorkeling, banana boats, donuts, and jet skis. As a golfing destination, the Costa Brava is second to none. It has been voted the World's best emerging area for the sport. Peralada Golf Club, a PGA qualifying course, is only 20 mins away by car. There are five other major courses within an hour of the villa, including the PGA de Catalunya course course (voted one of the top ten courses in Europe by Golf World magazine). Figueres with it's Dali museum is within 20 min; France and Girona 30-35 min and Barcelona under 2 hours.

I live in the UK with my husband and two children. We purchased our first property in Roses in 1999 and then went on to have Casa Leander built in 2001. We chose the area because of its fabulous location, many excellent restaurants, and of course the beautiful beaches. The area is easily accessible by road, rail (TGV to Figueres) and air, Girona, Perpignan and Barcelona airports all within an easy drive.

As a family we love to travel and have spent many holidays in the US, the Caribbean and also in the far east and Europe. However, it was Roses that we decided to return to year after year, and we still manage to find something new on every visit. We have tried to furnish the house with everything we need to live in as a second home, so as a vacation home it is very well furnished.

Just to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at 'Casa Leander'. The villa was superb. It had all the comforts of home, and we wanted for nothing. My daughter was especially delighted that we could access Sky Movies and my son was equally delighted that he didn't need to miss the British Formula 1 Grand Prix. The pool was well used, as the weather was good almost the whole week we were there. I would also like to add that Margaret was very welcoming and helpful during our stay The villa we moved on to in Calonge in the second week of our holiday was not nearly as well equipped, nor the agent nearly as helpful as Margaret, and we found ourselves missing yours. Amazing villa with outstanding views

The villa was absolutely beautiful with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. We were met promptly by Margaret the agent and she provided us with all the information we needed. The villa is like a beautiful modern home with all the facilities you could possibly need. The air-con in the bedrooms (not just the master bedroom) was very much appreciated by the whole family. The clean, warm pool was as shown in the pictures with breathtaking views over the bay of Roses and it was a delight to look out over the lovely landscape from first thing in the morning till late at night. Our teenage children were not let down by the British T.V channels and the additional film channel kept the whole family entertained when we just wanted to relax on an evening.

There is plenty to do in the area and the weather was glorious for our 2 weeks. We have stayed in many different villas over the past 10 years and this has to be one of the best. We would happily recommend this villa for anyone seeking a bit of peace and quiet away from bustling crowds but close enough to beaches, shops and other amenities. The holiday will stay in our memories for many years to come.

Casa Leander near Roses

WE have stayed in the area before so know it well. This villa is very nicely appointed, very well maintained and suited our family well. The pool was perfect. In all it was a relaxing and delightful break of two weeks

A car is needed to get around. However this was only for shopping go-karting and shopping. WE were not visiting the beach as we much prefer tranquillity and free space. Surprisingly several restaurants locally had closed permanently but still plenty of choice

Thoroughly recommended we will be back I am sure

Very nice villa

Casa Leander is a well proportioned villa on an elevated position with far reaching views of the Bay of Roses. The villa is very well equipped and maintained and the pool is excellent if very deep for young children.

The pillows on the beds are very thin and the bath towels rather small, but there are plentiful pool towels and all the cleaning products you could wish for. More detailed information from the owner prior to the visit would be helpful, particularly details on how to find the place, but overall it is a very good property in an interesting area.

Local restaurants are limited and not that wonderful, but Roses has a vast beach with endless dining options. Figueres is half an hour away and a must visit place.

A cut above the rest!

Simply superb! From the first walk through the door to the last fond farewell, you will absolutely love this villa. The building itself is airy, spacious, crisp, clean, beautifully decorated and very well equipped, but step outside and you'll be smitten. The wide covered balcony overlooks a truly spectacular view across the Gulf of Rose and the Muga River flood plain. It also overlooks a lovely swimming pool offering numerous sun beds and seating places to appreciate both the sun and the view. If you can drag yourself away, the nearby restaurants are excellent, as are the beaches and walks in the local hills. For the more adventurous there are also numerous water-sports and even sky-diving, although we didn't try these for ourselves.

Would definitely say this is the best villa we've staying in and would definitely recommend to anyone.

The area is easily accessible by road, rail (TGV to Figueres) and and air, Girona, Perpignan and Barcelona airports all within an easy drive.

Nearest Airport : Girona at 40 Miles Nearest Barpub : Padel courts at 0.5 Miles Nearest Ferry : St Malo at 640 Miles Nearest Golf : Perelada at 8 Miles Nearest Train : Figueres at 12 Miles Nearest Motorway : AP7 at 12 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Nou Fusion at 0.25 Miles Nearest Ski : Valle de Nuria at 50 Miles Nearest Beach : Roses at 4 Miles Car: necessary


The nearest beaches are Roses, Santa Margarita and Empuriabrava all within ten minutes drive. These have fantastic golden sand and quite often life guards on duty in the summer months. Water sports are well catered for including scuba diving, windsurfing, kite surfing, sailing, water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skis and the usual banana fun rides for the children. Roses is a fishing port and excellent fresh fish can be purchased for those special barbecues.


The nearest airports are Girona (Barcelona Girona) served by Ryan Air about 40 minutes drive and Perpignan about 50 minutes, again served by Ryanair. Barcelona is about a 1 hr 40 minutes drive served by all the major airlines. A car is essential and may be hired at all of the airports. We are just 30 minutes from the French border and driving from the UK can take as little as 12 hours (about 750 from the French ports). The TGV now travels from Paris to Figueres where cars can then be hired.


Palau Saverdera 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive. Nearest restaurant on the urbanisation. Driving: Roses 4 km, Empuriabrava 7 km, Figueres 15km, Cadaques 15km, Barcelona 90 minutes driving, 80 minutes by train.

Further Details:

Local shops can be found in Palau Saverdera, numerous supermarkets and shops and restaurants in Roses and the surrounding areas. Sky Diving is available from Empuriabrava airport. The Salvador Dali museum is in Figueres and his house in Cadaques. There are large markets in Roses on Sundays, Empuriabrava on Saturdays and various times during the week in other towns.

Roses is steeped in history with origins going back to the 8th century BC when the first settlers arrived here from ancient Greece. The 1960s saw the arrival of international tourists who have since transformed this centuries old fishing port into a thoroughly modern and popular holiday destination. The town was originally named Rhodes by the Greeks in honour of their homeland. The Romans later developed a thriving fishing industry here and today Roses is home to the Costa Brava's largest fishing fleet, based alongside the modern yacht marina. Fresh fish can be bought from the dockside and the town has some great fish restaurants.

Horse riding is available close by, also sky diving, karting, water park and the Cap de Creus national park is behind the property providing amazing views, great for cyclists, walkers, etc.

In addition to the information book which gives details of the amenities in the villa and brochures for things to do, New for 2015 we have made a brochure listing the numerous restaurants that can be found in the area which includes directions, photos and even some menus.

We love having all the facilities in the area close by but also the option of staying away from the crowds and lazing away the days by our own private pool with uninterrupted views of the Bay of Roses and the Pyrenees in the distance. There is UK satellite tv at the property. There is also wifi available if you wish to bring your own laptop, ipad etc.

  • Notes on accommodation: Individually controlled air conditioning units are available in all of the bedrooms, the third also has a ceiling fan. For colder times of year the house is centrally heated and a fire in the sitting room. Ideally suited for families as all the bedrooms are on the same side of the villa, so young children are not too far away! Outside: Arched south facing dining terrace outside the lounge providing welcome shade and fabulous views including some spectacular sunsets over the Pyrenees. Large BBQ with teak dining table and seating for for eight. Private and secluded 8 x 4m pool has its own terrace areas with ample space for the 6 sunbeds and 3 umbrellas and enjoys the same great views over the bay and Pyrenees. There is a garden all around the property stocked with many plants and herbs and even an olive tree! Here there are two sunbeds and an umbrella should the grandparents want to be apart from the noise of the pool occasionally. Further sunbeds are in the gardens. Beach towels are provided and changed weekly at no extra charge. There are new Paddle Courts and a bar serving snacks on the development, and the highly acclaimed restaurant 'Nou Fusion' is within walking distance. There is also a lovely bakery within walking distance. Utility Room: Situated close to the bedroom area the utility room houses washing machine, tumble drier, iron, ironing board, clothes airer, vacuum cleaner, brushes, mops, buckets etc. There is also a cool box for clients' use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, towels and beach towels are included in the price. Standard cleaning at the end of your stay is also included. Further cleaning during your stay can be arranged locally. Linen packs are delivered by arrangement on a weekly basis. Other: Terrace has teak table and chairs large enough to seat up to 10 people and BBQ. Ideal for relaxing with a glass of wine at the end of the day. There are six sunbeds and three sun umbrellas by the pool. Another umbrella and six sunbeds around the garden.
