Holiday Home in Le Mesnil Rainfray, Normandy, France
The house is set in two acres and is situated in an elevated position looking out towards parts of Normandy, Brittany and Loire (Mayenne). Within a few minutes of a number of attractions including the Lac du Vezins, where there is a leisure park, and the waterfalls and walks at Mortain. The nearest golf course is at Dathee not far from Vire (20 minutes). The Wednesday market at St Hilaire is not to be missed. There are many good local restaurants (details in the house). The house is fully equipped including a large woodburner and all the usual appliances etc.

Fabulous house, very spacious and well equipped
About the Owner
Our house in France is definitely a second "Home". We love everything about it and we have enjoyed letting it to others. Over a number of years now we have had a long list of really pleasant and appreciative tenants who have all looked after our house much as we like to ourselves. Those who enjoy having some of their meals "at home", (which we find is a great part of a holiday in the summer months) have really liked our kitchen. One of the many comments received was "A kitchen to die for!"
We like being in South Normandy where it is not touristy but a real part of France where local shops and businesses do not necessarily speak English.

Fabulous house, very spacious and well equipped
We have now stayed in this farmhouse twice and loved both visits. We are a family of 6 and the bedroom and bathroom arrangement suited our needs perfectly, as did the downstairs rooms. The house was clean, spacious and well presented, and well equipped for our needs. The children loved the outside space, and spent a lot of time in the garden safe in the knowledge that their noise would disturb no-one! We enjoyed many day trips out, either to the beach (about 30-35 mins away), Le Mans (about 2 hours but worth it) and other places of interest; there are also WW2 sites and museums within a reasonable travelling distance. There are plenty of supermarkets as well as boulangeries nearby but note that a car is essential due to the house's location. The owners were very easy to deal with on both occasions and were prompt with their replies. My only suggestion would be to list more photos of the house in order to do it justice on the website. I would definitely recommend this property.

Nearest beaches 35 minutes by car (St Jean le Thomas and St Pair sur Mer etc towards Granville).
Use of car essential. Several ferry ports, St Malo 70 minutes, Caen Ouistreham 90 minutes and Cherbourg less than 2 hours away. Nearest airport Dinard.
1km from Le Mesnil Rainfray. 2.5km from Juvigny Le Tertre (2 bars, 2 Restaurants, boulangerie, butchers, small supermarket, Garage/filling station etc.) 9km from Mortain, 10km from St Hilaire du Harcouet and 25km from Avranches each with range of shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and other facilities. Major centres at St Malo, Caen and Rennes each of which about 60 miles (1 hour by car)
Surrounded by the history of The Battle of Normandy following "D" Day the house is in the area of the German counter attack retaking Mortain and its locaity. Local Calvados distilleries etc.
