Excellent location and value

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here in July for 1 week with my wife and 7 month old daughter. Dealing with Diane the owner and Heidi the agent was great right from the start with all queries answered quickly. The villa doesn't have a cot but Heidi was able to arrange one for us. The villa was plenty big for our needs and really does have all the fixtures, fittings and utensils for a comfortable holiday. The Spanish BBQ is a nice touch.

We had an issue with a leaking sink but it was dealt with very quickly. The outside patio area whilst lovely and wonderful for al fresco dining is quite shaded as the forest in front of it has matured over the years. I realize that for many that would be an added bonus but we like our sun as it doesn't shine much in Ireland! Not an issue that would stop me going back though!

The pool area is really clean and well kept as well as supervised all day. There are no sun loungers there and everybody just lie on their towels on the tiles. If you are from the UK or Ireland please be ware that you have to wear speedo type shorts to gain entry. I had never owned a pair of Speedo's before as I think they are disgusting but against my wishes I trotted of to the shops to purchase a pair! I made sure to stay out of all photo's! Also we were not allowed to use the pool on the first day as they had changed the colour of the required armbands for entry and our villa still had the old ones. Not ideal when you want to cool down a hot baby.

The villa is a 10 minute stroll to the beach or 20 minutes to the port where we ate most nights. All areas are kept in immaculate condition. Lidl is a 5 minute walk away and if you have a car there is a large Intermarche a short drive away.

Most of the other accommodation offering in the resort is either campsite, old looking apartments or poor looking hotels so we were very pleased with the villa and would book it again in a heartbeat. All in all a very nice resort, and this villa in Parc de la Mer won't disappoint you in any way. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the swimming pool issues we encountered.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your detailed review of our holiday villa, I am sure others will find your comments informative and useful. We are sorry you had issues getting into the pool on your first day. The wrist band access is to ensure that only residents use the pool, and in the 8 years we have owned the property the management company who runs Parc de la Mer has never changed them, until this year and without informing us.....such is the way sometimes in France! Looks like Heidi was able to rectify these two small issues in record time and at a weekend, which in itself is unusual in France. On the whole it sounds like you had a great time, and will have some good memories of your time in Argeles, we look forward to welcoming you back in the future, Best Regards Wayne, Diane & Heidi

Nice Place

  • 4 of 5

Not a bad property but did have some issues with cleanliness. Location was ideal for those who want a seaside resort that is busy and popular with families. Property very close to beach and all amenities. Pool was close and not packed with people. We had an attempted theft of our bikes which were locked up outside so please make sure your bikes are locked up securely. The weather was stunning and there is a lot to do in the area. Lots of water sports and the cycle path to St Cyprien was great. Lots to travel to as well, all about half hr away. On the whole a great place, quiet but does adjoin other properties either side and is a busy town.

Ideal little place by sea

  • 3 of 5

This is a nice basic little beach resort bungalow. Plenty to do in the area, just as the owners described.

Quiet, pretty location yet 15 minute walk to the main shops and beach. The property was clean and well maintained, although from the advert I hadn't realised it wasn't detached. Although the resort caters well for families we were able to find areas both on the beach and to eat in, that catered to our tastes. We had a car so were able to see other areas and we love Collioure, just 15 minutes away. We ate well in Port Argeles, which looked particularly pretty at night. I'd definitely recommend this property but I was a bit surprised that linen and taxes weren't included in the overall price and because we had to send payment electronically to France, twice, incurred rather high bank service charges.

WOW !!! We holiday in France most summers but usually use mobile homes , When we found Wayne & Diane's Villa & saw the price we decided to go for it ....The Villa was so well equipped , the location was brilliant , we have been to Argeles a few times before & found the Villa was perfectly placed for all the local bars & restaurants . At this point I must point out that the BBQ was the cleanest I have ever used in all my holidays in France so 10/10 for that . I hope to book this villa again next year , if I had one complaint it was that it was to hot !!!!! Not really a complaint , I would recommend this Villa without doubt

Good location

  • 4 of 5

Property is on the outer rim of a holiday complex, perhaps 150 similar properties built in linked groups of about 10/12. This property overlooks a private wood (no access) and is at the end of one of the pathways. Good location. Property is well stocked with all day to day self catering equipment needs Car parking is either side of the complex and is secure with key fob controlled access. Beach 10 minutes walk and opposite way 10 minites walk is a Lidl. Pool on complex open June to September and is far enough away not to be troubled by any noise but only 30 sec. walk . The garden is secure and therefore suits dogs or small children. Property description correct. Dog friendly beach at Racou (20/30 minutes walk) and north end of Argeles (5 minute drive). The port is 10/15 minutes walk and has better restaraunts than the central grouping of fast food ones (most closed until April). Argeles itself is excellent in low/medium season, don't know how busy it is in peak season but suspect it is heaving. This property would then be a comparitive oasis of calm.

Booking and arrival processes very professional. Have no hesitation in recommending.
