About the property

Cottage in Fairford, The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, England - Newly Renovated in a Contemporary Style

Originally a 16th Century bakery, Wishbone is a period Cotswold Stone Cottage in a row of terraced limestone property on Milton Street in the pretty market town of Fairford, which is situated in the beautiful Coln Valley and the Cotswold Water Park. Wishbone has recently undergone complete restoration, retaining the essence of a Cotswold Cottage blended with modern colour and current technology in a contemporary style. Comfortably furnished and well equipped to a high standard on the background of the original flagstone and wooden floors and exposed stone walls. It provides guests with an elegant relaxing stay. Everything is catered for in Fairford, and guests are able to walk into the town to shop and eat. You can easily join the many beautiful walks in and around Fairford. Further afield is the Roman town of Cirencester, the village of Bibury with its trout farm and the famous Arlington Row, Burford Wildlife Park, Westonbirt Arboretum, and the Spa town of Cheltenham are all close by.

Exceeded all of our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage and the garden were very nice with lots of character combined with modern convenience. We found it even better than the pictures and description implied. The small village of Fairford was also a nice surprise. Within a 5 minute walk from the cottage are some very good casual restaurants. Our favorite was The Bull (gastro pub) (Double Glouster Twice Baked Chesse Soufle!). The Italian restaurant and the bakery were also very good. It is a good location for exploring the Cotswolds. Our favorite day trips included Blenheim Palace, Stratford Upon Avon (including a boat trip on the Avon), Sudley Castle, the Costwold Falconry (dont miss this one), the Roman Villa Ruins, and Bibury, but there are many others that we enjoyed as well. For a tip, the roads are very narrow so be prepared for it to take longer than you expect. However the countryside is really beautiful so take your time, keep your camera ready and enjoy the views! Sat Nav is highly recomended.

A great holiday we'll never forget

  • 5 of 5

Wishbone Cottage is very beautiful! Well furnished, everything is made with love. The contacts with the owner, Karen, were ever so nice and friendly. Everything was even better then discribed! We are sad, that we've been often out for the day so that we didn't used the house so much we should have done. It's a place to feel good, to relax and recover.

We are sure we'll come back some day.

A lovely and very complete holiday home.

  • 4 of 5

We, a family with two young girls, had a fantastic holiday in Wishbone Cottage. We were welcomed with flowers and everything was ready for us. It was very comfortable for the four of us, with two beds, a cot for our little one and a kitchen with everything we needed. Karen was an excellent host. We sure hope to return some day!

A lovely cosy cottage, well presented and equipped

  • 5 of 5

A return visit to this lovely cottage, which is nicely decorated throughout with some exposed stone walls, a well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. It was very clean on arrival and the owner was readily available if we needed any help (which we didn't, in fact). Lots to do in this beautiful part of the country. We particularly liked the food at The Falcon Inn in nearby Poulton.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures represented the cottage perfectly. It was a charming, clean, and attractive place. We have stayed in VRBO over the years, this had the best equipped kitchen. It was a convenient location for touring. It was also an easy walk to footpaths and into the village for shopping. Karen was helpful from the beginning of booking and during our stay.

IT is walking distance to the pretty village of Fairford, and Karen the owner was extremely helpful with all the information she sent us. WIshbone cottage is an excellent cottage and I can't recommend it enough. Jane Pratt
