Refurbished apartment in the mountains with fabulous, spectacular all round mountain views. In beautiful countryside surrounded by olive groves this is the Real Spain. About Linda Fortune

My name is Linda Fortune and I live in Suffolk in the UK in a beautiful, picturesque village on the heritage coast. I live with my husband and three rescued cats. We have a son who is a Squadron Leader in the RAF and he was married in June 2014 in the Yorkshire Dales, and we are now proud Grandparents to Florence our beautiful granddaughter!

We have always loved Spain so when my husband was offered early retirement in 2002, with a cash lump sum payment, we seized the opportunity of buying a slice of rural Spain, We had never liked the touristy coastal areas but inland in the mountains with the most spectacular views was our idea of heaven. We visit as often as we can, bookings permitting, and we hope you too will enjoy this truly wonderful Spanish experience!

Notes on accommodation: The apartment is fully centrally heated and has a wood burning fire so very cosy for winter lettings. Also fans are available to cope with the summer heat and there is a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Free welcome pack of essentials provided including tea. coffee, bread, spread, milk and wine. Outside: Outside there is a sun terrace and patio with loungers, sunken Roman plunge pool feature with soothing fountain and cooling shower. The pretty, private garden is fully enclosed and has olive trees, outside lighting and a gas barbecue and furniture for alfresco dining. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen are provided including towels for outside use. The property will be cleaned to a very high standard before and after your stay. If you require any further cleaning please let us know and this can be arranged for a reasonable fee. Other: Fully fitted, well equipped kitchen with Dining area.

Just as described

Surrounded by fabulous countryside, olive trees and lovely gardens. We simply did not expect to find the layers of privacy and tranquility that we enjoyed.

The cottage itself was just wonderful. It has been renovated to an excellent standard with tasteful decor creating a lovely authenticity. All of our needs had been considered and the attention to detail was great. All of the facilities were superb; Clean, safe and maintained to a high standard ensuring that our holiday was one to remember.

There are lots of books to enjoy and we had lovely lazy days and lovely warm evenings.

The location is brilliant, however, a car is essential. We were able to explore the area with ease. For a little culture, Granada and the Alhambra Palace is a couple of hours drive but well worth it. In the opposite direction we loved Rhonda, and Nerja.

A delightful apartment in a tranquil setting

I am so pleased that I found this lovely apartment on the Owners Direct site.  The apartment was very comfortable and absolutely ideal for two people. It was well equipped, clean and I loved the decor - we really felt that we were in authentic Spanish accommodation in rural Spain. There is a lovely garden that is great for relaxing in. Although it was late October we were lucky enough to have some warm weather so enjoyed the garden. Television is available although we didn’t use it, there are DVDs, books and games in the apartment so when the weather was not so good we were able to amuse ourselves. There is also Wifi. The Welcome Pack was most welcome.The location is beautiful up in the hills and surrounded by olive trees. It is an ideal base for venturing further afield to explore Andalucia.  There are shops in Trabuco and many restaurants. Archidona and Antiquera are within easy reach for larger supermarkets. Antiquera is worth a visit, it is an interesting small town.

We had a lovely restful week and enjoyed exploring a little further afield too. Thank you.

Perfect for a peaceful break

We have stayed here many times - from short breaks to a whole month a couple of years ago - and have also stayed in the adjoining properties. Accomodation is perfect for two people (and a dog). The location is superb and views of mountains (and chickens in the field below) are amazing. Equipment in the property, cleanliness and wifi all exceed expectations. Owners are very helpful and accessible and the welcome pack is an added bonus. It is a great base to visit Andalucia as well chill out in your private garden by the BBQ. We have been here six times minimum and have also rented the 3 fincas for a birthday party with friends. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Information provided incomplete and incorrect

We stayed 2 weeks in september 2016 in this cottage/apartment.

What the owner did and does not tell on homeaway is that the apartment is part of a small finca with 3 other apartments. One of these was attached next to and above our bedroom which gave a lot of noise disturbance. We would not have rented if we had known that there are other apartments.

The cottage/apartment in itself is very small (40 m2) and basic, there is a very small garden (60 m2) and a very limited view of the surrounding moutains (not as suggested by the pictures). It was not clean on our arrival, we had to spent a couple of hours cleaning it first. There's no airconditioning, just a single ceilingfan on the bedroom. Wifi is very weak to absent. The clear presence of other guests in the finca was very disturbing for us. We would not recommend this cottage/apartment to anyone who wants peace and quiet and some privacy.

Owner's Response: I find this review incomprehensible. The main picture on the website clearly shows there is another property attached so, when booking, the guests would have been aware of this and it is certainly not advertised as being isolated. The guests in the attached property were elderly friends of ours and they have assured us that they made no undue noise. In fact for 5 days they were away from the property exploring Andalusia. We ourselves always stay in the apartment by choice when we are in Spain as it is perfect for a couple and the private garden is an added bonus. So we know the WiFi works very well as we use it to run our business here! The mountains surround the property and are huge - restricted view?? Our housekeepers clean to a very high standard so a cleanliness issue is surprising. However if they had contacted them on arrival any problems would have been immediately rectified. Actually it appears that the catalyst for this review is the fact that these guests found the mere presence of other people "very disturbing" and that frankly is quite sad.

Further Details:

The area is ideal for walkers, hikers, bikers, bird watchers and nature lovers as it abounds with many species of birds and animals. If required we can arrange for guided walks, hikes, rockclimbing or mountain biking and there is horseriding 5 minutes away catering for all abilities and ages.

Although we ourselves live in the UK but we have a super couple who look after the property for us. They have lived in Spain for many years so are very knowledgeable and will be only too happy to help you in any way possible and provide you with any information you may require during your stay. You will find their telephone number in the cottage on your arrival.
