The Stables (sleeps 4+1)

The Stables is an ideal self catering holiday cottage for a family holiday in the Cotswolds.

Converted from the original stables downstairs and hayloft upstairs, it offers perfect accommodation for those requiring either one or two bedrooms. For a couple, it is very cosy using just the downstairs rooms. It can also be used by a larger group to extend the accommodation offered by The Coach House or Courtyard Cottage.

Kitchen with Zanussi stainless steel range.

Small washing machine in cupboard under the stairs.

Ground floor bedroom with double bed (5 ft).

Steep stairs to the second bedroom with double bed (4 ft 6 in), one single bed (3 ft) under the eaves, and views of Bredon Hill.

Upper Court is a stunning historical estate in the pretty Cotswold village of Kemerton in Gloucestershire. The Herfords have been welcoming guests to Upper Court for over 40 years and, although we are always up-dating things, we hope our original guests still find the special atmosphere they first came for. Our five self catering holiday cottages are set in 15 acres of magnificent grounds and gardens. Sleeping between two and eleven guests individually and greater numbers in combination, they offer superb self catering holiday accommodation for a couple, family, extended family or large group wishing to stay in the Cotswolds. Excellent fun for hen parties with plenty to do in the area and our pottery onsite. Coach House can seat up to 28 for dinner or we are now proud owners of our village pub which is just a 3 minute walk up the lane.

About Diana Herford

Bill and Diana Herford welcome guests to Upper Court. This has been their home now for over 35 years and seen their family grow up here. They live in the Manor House in the centre of the grounds. Bill is still an active gardener and Diana is certainly busy with the upkeep of Upper Court whilst being actively part of village life here in the conservation area of Kemerton.

Why Diana Herford chose Cotswold district

Upper Court Estate is at the foot of Bredon Hill. Escape in to the country and be refreshed by the open space and wonderful wildlife. Kemerton is a small village but a busy one and Upper Court is the perfect place for a family get together or a quiet romantic weekend for two. Not far from the M5 and only 10 miles from Cheltenham it is wonderfully situated.

What makes this cottage unique

The 5 self catering cottages are of varying sizes and guests can find the one to suit them. We have on site pottery, tennis courts, croquet lawn, outdoor pool and wonderful grounds. As the seasons change, you can wake to birdsong, see foxes trotting along by the lake, seasonal migrants coming to the lake in winter and enjoy all that our quiet conservation area has to offer.

Notes

  • Booking Notes:
    A non-refundable deposit of one third of the cost of the holiday is required at the time of booking. Reservations will not be treated as complete until the deposit has been received. The balance is payable eight weeks prior to the arrival date. If the booking is made within eight weeks of the arrival date, the rent must be paid in full at the time of booking. Payment can be made by credit card, debit card or cheque.


    Changeover Day:
    Our changeover day is Friday (Monday considered). We either do three night weekend breaks from Friday to Monday or four night midweek breaks from Monday to Friday. Midweek short breaks are priced the same as weekend breaks and offer excellent value.

Notes on accommodation: Free wifi throughout. Outside: The extensive gardens and grounds, extending to 15 acres, match the quality of the buildings. Guests are free to wander in the grounds, the centrepiece of which is a beautiful two acre lake that is home to a variety of wildfowl, swans, ducks and geese that all love to be fed. There are lots of spots suitable for romantic picnics, or you might even take the boat out. The millstream and watermill (now ruined) are mentioned in the Doomsday Book (1086). Besides the extensive gardens and grounds, which you are free to explore, you are also welcome to use our covered outdoor swimming pool and tennis court. There is also a croquet lawn and table tennis table for the use of guests. Each cottage has a BBQ and outdoor seating.
