House in Lourmarin, Vaucluse, Provence - Alpes, Cote D'Azur, France - Located in the Heart of the Village

Our house is a traditional style ‘maison de village’ over three floors. We had it refurbished to update the facilities but maintaining many period features and it is tastefully and comfortably furnished for a relaxing break.

It is in the heart of the village with the shops, restaurants and leisure activities within easy walking distance and yet it is a very peaceful place for those who just wish to chill on the terrace and cook in the well equipped kitchen.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely townhouse. It was so nice being able to walk out the door and enjoy all the restaurants, shops, and the Friday market in the beautiful village of Lourmarin. Fiona was excellent to work with on the booking and Greta was so nice in showing us into the place. By the way, Greta spoke very good English so there was no language barrier. I worried that there weren't any bathroom pictures and that it wouldn't be nice, but it was very nice. The modern toilet was in it's own room, and the shower and vanity/sink combo were in a room next to the toilet room. The bathroom was clean and modern and the shower had a rain shower head and a handheld shower head. I highly recommend this home and I highly recommend staying in the village.

Our property search took us to many lovely places but Lourmarin took our breath away. It is stunning to look at if you just want to while the day away but there's always lots going on. It's easy to reach and a great base for day trips.

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary


In less than an hour you can reach the beach at Cassis.


The airports and TGV stations at Marseille and Avignon are less than an hours drive. You will need a hire car to reach the village.


Aix en Provence, Avignon, Marseille, Arles are less than an hours drive. A drive through the Combe de Lourmarin will take you to the North Luberon Valley where Peter Mayle's books were set.

Further Details:

The village has restaurants to suit most budgets. The Friday market is perfect for fresh produce and there is a supermarket just outside the village for the basics. The village has a bank and a post office. There are numerous boutiques, galleries and a Renaissance chateau to explore. The village hosts many cultural events. The village has excellent tennis courts, a mini-golf and in high summer the local campsite swimming pool is open to the public. There are a number of good walks in the area as well as rock-climbing.

From the Owner

Our property is in the middle of the village so we can walk to the bakers or the market or to take the kids to the park. It is away from the main drag so it is still nice and quiet. You can really get a taste of what it is like to live in a Provencal village - sitting on our terrace watching the world go by.

  • Notes on accommodation: Typical of traditional houses in the area the 3 floors are joined by narrow stairs which may make the property difficult for really young children and the elderly. The village bell rings regularly and it may take a day or so to get used to. Outside: There is a table and chairs for the terrace. Parking is limited to drop-off however there are a number of free car-parks within easy walking distance of the house. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. The property is cleaned and linen laundered between lets unless otherwise requested. Other: Classically decorated dining room adjoining the kitchen on the ground floor - nice and cool in the summer.
