Situated in the beautiful Haute-Charente region close to the Dordogne border, this tastefully restored and immaculately maintained 3 bedroom farmhouse is located in a tiny hamlet surrounded by woodland and close to Les Lacs de Haute Charente. Spacious and very well equipped, with extensive gardens and a large, private, fully enclosed swimming pool and sun deck with glorious views over rolling countryside.

The magnificent open plan lounge has original oak beams, a Charentaise fireplace and wood-burning stove. There are three sofas, two coffee tables, a sideboard, display cabinet, and dining table and chairs, as well as satellite TV, DVD player, and an extensive selection of books, games and DVD's.

The fully fitted kitchen incorporates a dishwasher, fridge, oven, hob, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and blender. The farmhouse style table and chairs seats six. The adjoining utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer.

A shower room with wc and wash-hand basin completes the ground floor accommodation.

On the first floor, a beautiful galleried landing serves three large bedrooms (two double, one twin), and a family bathroom comprising bath, shower cubicle, wc, wash-hand basin and bidet.

The second floor provides an additional sitting room ideal for reading and using the internet.

Outside, the enclosed private swimming pool measures 10m x 6m and is up to 2m deep. Hardwood outdoor furniture includes four recliners (with cushions), a dining table, parasol and six chairs.

There are excellent walking and cycling opportunities on the doorstep. The Lac de Mas Chaban and Lac de Lavaud are within a few minutes’ drive, and offer swimming, watersports, fishing, picnic sites, and restaurants.

We wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying at your beautiful farmhouse. You've done a fantastic job with the renovations and it was so clean and well furnished that we felt instantly at home and relaxed. Mandy, John, Billy and Sophie.

This was one of the best breaks we have ever had and we will most likely want to book it again. Emma and Nick.

We have stayed in many properties throughout France and we all felt that Maison L'Allee was the nicest, and maintained to a very high standard. The location is fabulous and I think some of the best times we had were playing in the pool, relaxing in the garden, or sitting on the deck enjoying the wonderful views and wildlife with a glass or two of wine. Greg, Jane, Meg and John.

We have no hesitation in recommending your property, it really was so relaxing and peaceful, and we genuinely hope to be able to make a return visit in the future. Steve, Sharon, Geoff and Jane.

We had a wonderful holiday staying at this property! The facilities were everything we were expecting and the pool was gorgeous! It was lovely and spacious, clean and very well equipped! Beverley was so helpful and gave a great recommendation for the market at 'Piegut'. Nothing was too much trouble! The property was well placed for local amenities and the beautiful lakes which we cycled round and swam in! Near to Angouleme and Limoges but the local villages were just as pretty! Beverley was a great host and I would thoroughly recommend this property as one of the best we have stayed in, in France and very reasonable given the amenities available!

Lovely family holiday

Had a fab week staying at this lovely farmhouse with its own private pool which the children loved. The property was immaculate with everything we needed. Beverley made us feel very welcome and on hand if required. It was so relaxing to sit out in the evenings with a glass (or two) of wine and enjoy the quietness of the countryside. Really recommend visiting oradour-sur-glane. The river beaches nearby were great for canoeing and the food in the café tasty and inexpensive. Many thanks for a lovely week.

Great holiday in a wonderful property.

We had a great holiday which was made perfect by staying in such a comfortable and quiet house. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there are lots of interesting places to visit but we spent much of our time relaxing in the pool or around the house. The house and grounds were delightful, the accomodation was stylish and very comfortable and clean and the pool was amazing. Bev made the booking process very easy and Colin was a great host...unobtrusive but available when necessary. The peace and beauty of the area re-charged our batteries and I still have a photo of the view from the deck with the road winding into the distance as my screen saver to transport me back whenever I need to unwind!

Many thanks and I hope to see that view for real again soon.

Fantastic Holiday!!

We stayed at Maison L'Allee leading up to and after our wedding in nearby La Rochefoucauld. It was a great house, there were only 3 of us staying (myself, my husband and our then 2 year old). All the rooms were decorated nicely and everything was very clean with extra towles and bed linen available. We did eat in a few times and the kitchen is kitted out with everything you would need. It was very handy having the washing machine with a 2 year old.

The pool was lovely and the views were great too from the decking at the back of the house. We especially liked the attic room.

The owners were very helpful and answered all the questions we asked and we received our deposit money back really quickly which was great as we slightly overspent on the wedding!

We would definately stay again and would recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful house with amazing views

We had a wonderful holiday at Maison L’Allee. The house was immaculate and very well equipped. The views around the property are exceptional and we enjoyed many beautiful walks. There are lots of things to do in this area and we filled our days with exciting and memorable trips, especially to Oradour-sur-Glane, which was a unique and humbling experience. Those days we spent at home were happy, leisurely days spent on the balcony of this beautiful house, enjoying the amazing views, spectacular night skies and the welcoming pool. We certainly hope to return.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Limoges at 45 Kilometres Car: necessary

A general store and bar is situated in Lesignac-Durand 2.5km away. Supermarkets, banks, restaurants, bars, and shops are within 11km at Chabanais and Roumazieres. Several chateaux and charming towns and villages are close to hand, as are the Roman baths at Chassenon, reputed to be the best preserved outside of Italy. Also of interest is the War Memorial at Chasseneuil, Adventure Park at Massignac, and Velorail at Roumazieres. Bike hire and horse riding are both available locally.

Sandy beaches, restaurants, and a water sports centre are 8km away at Lac de Lavaud. Fishing, rambling and picnic sites are only 2.5km away at Lac de Mas Chaban.

Further afield are the delightful towns of La Rochefoucauld and Rochechouart (20km), the cities of Limoges (45km), famous for its porcelain, and Angouleme (40km), with its ramparts, medieval houses and cobbled streets. Cognac, and the opportunity to visit one of its many distilleries, is just over an hours drive, and Bordeaux and the beaches of the Charente Maritime can be reached in just over 2 hours.

Ryanair operates daily services from several British airports to Limoges, 45km to the east, where car hire is available. Travelling by car from Caen takes approximately 7 hours.
