About the property

Gite in Martigne Ferchaud, Brittany, France

La Morinais is a large Breton longhouse (longere) and the gite is part of this property adjacent to the owners' accommodation. There are no other gites or holiday accommodation on this site. Situated in a quiet country location in South East Brittany, La Morinais is 2 kms from the centre of Eance, a small village with busy bar restaurant. The local towns of Martigne Ferchaud, Pouance, La Guerche de Bretagne and Chateaubriant are all easily accessible for leisure and/or commerce.

Local lakes abound for swimming, boating, fishing, etc. Coastal resorts and the cultural cities of Angers, Rennes, Laval and Nantes are within striking distance. The gite comprises 3 bedrooms to sleep 5. Bed linen and towels are provided, the beds made up prior to arrival. Wi-Fi free of charge. The swimming pool is for the sole use of visitors to the gite. The owners live on site to deal with any queries or problems and to attend to the swimming pool on a daily basis. The pool is solar heated with a raised sundeck for easy access to the water. Bed linen and towels, gas and electricity are all included in the price. There are no extra charges.

About The Owner

We arrived in France in 2004 moving from Devon with our two cats, Simon and Maisie who are still with us. We had wanted to move for some time but our decision was finally made after redundancy forced the issue! We have settled well to life in France and have both French and English friends. Les involves himself with local building projects from time to time and Sue teaches English on a part-time basis - she is also available for French and Spanish tuition.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2004

Why The Owner chose Ille-et-Vilaine

We bought our property in this south eastern corner of Brittany for the rural tranquility and for ease of access to Channel ports and to the rest of France; the area enjoys a micro climate and often benefits from kinder weather than the rest of Brittany.

We bought a longere which we have largely renovated to create a space for ourselves and one holiday gite.

What makes this cottage unique

We have installed a swimming pool which offers a welcome respite from the heat of summer days and you may choose to eat on the decking which is equipped with table and chairs. In addition there is a private garden area for use of guests with barbecue, table and chairs, a covered area for protection from too much sun, and swings for children.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'Thank you so very much for your hospitality. We have all enjoyed our stay immensely. Everything is so lovely: the fresh air, the freedom and the quietness .... ' Richard, Sally-Ann, Corren and Rosie White - Okehampton

'Thanks for the chance to see areas of Brittany and the Loire from a base containing all (and more!) home comforts' Paul, Karen, Elizabeth and Stevie Easterbrook - Exeter

'Had the most incredibly relaxing time - everything that we wanted in a holiday. Thanks to Sue and Les for their hospitality and help. We could not have asked for more. The gite is lovely and a great setting. We will visit again.' Tracey and Mel - Christchurch, Dorset

A wonderful week! Comfortable, relaxing and peaceful. Enjoying a glass of wine in the evening with the perfume of petunias in the air - what more could you ask? Gail and Martin, Aberdeen.

This is the nicest gite we have stayed in. The kids have asked to return next year! .... Joy, Carl, Toby, Zak & Charlie

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this lovely gite and could not have been happier. It is fully equipped with everything you could need for a very comfortable stay.

Although you are set in the most beautiful countryside you are very close to many interesting towns and villages and there is plenty to see and do.

Sue and Les are perfect hosts and completely respect your privacy but are on hand with a wealth of local information.

If you are looking for comfort in a beautiful part of France you cannot go wrong by choosing La Morinais.

We had an enjoyable holiday with everything we needed for our stay.Accommodation was well equipped, comfy beds and plenty of hot water. The grounds are well maintained and we enjoyed the lovely views, sunbathing and having BBQs.

We all made good use of the pool and Les and Sue were available if we had any queries or we wanted advice for local places to visit.Recommended for families who want a relaxing and peaceful place to stay.

Wow- what a haven to find for our holiday

  • 5 of 5

Well, what can we say. Accommodation just perfect. A great mix of rural France and mod cons. Lovely accommodation, wonderfully tranquil setting. Well placed for exploring, and daily dips in the pool for the whole family! The kids had loads of space to play too. Sue & Les are lovely hosts. On hand if you need the but not intrusive. Wonderful experience would recommend to anyone wanting a lovely, comfortable, relaxing holiday in rural France.
