•A bathroom with shower, sink, wc, hair dryer and washing-machine.

Villa Castelforte is divided into two units:
”TWO rooms apartment” (42m2 - max. 4 people) and a
“Studio apartment” (23m2 - max. 2 people).
Each apartment has a separate entrance and private outdoor areas equipped to be able to enjoy the pleasant Mediterranean climate.
The garden and pool (about 10 x 5m. and 1.20 m. deep) are extremely relaxing and surrounded by lovely plants and mature trees. Different points equipped in the garden provide peace and outdoor relaxation to spent the majority of time rotating from the sun, to the shade, to the pool and back again to sunny spots to dry off - with a drink or a book in hand!
The pool is open from May to October,
outdoor shower with hot water at the pool,
private parking in the garden.
Villa Castelforte is situated 10 min. by bike from Mondello beach and 20 min. by car from Palermo centre in one of the quietest zones of Mondello-Castelforte, even in high season!
But here you can find also a “Sicilian cooking class” including shopping at the market and a tasty dinner.
At home, in a friendly and casual atmosphere, with Stefano, an excellent cook, he learned all the "secrets" from our maternal grandmother.
I like travelling the World, spending most of Winter, from December to March with my little backpack wandering and connecting with new people between different cultures.
I love it.
When I come back in Sicily, I’m very happy to find again my family, friends, dogs, cats, books and gardens.
My mind is full of images, new experiences, deep feelings and I’m ready to receive new friends ...... and my journey continues with your holidays at my Home!
Most of my guests arrive as guests but leave as friends keeping in touch. This is a great satisfaction for me! and it is what makes this job amazing and never boring.
It is a bit like traveling the World, you never know who'll meet tomorrow and how many new experiences you can enjoy, it is always a surprise.
Silvia Baldi purchased this villa in 1970
Welcome Home ! This house was designed and built by my parents when I was 5 years old, and from then I live here,
I and the palm trees have the same age!
I love this place because it allows me to live surrounded by nature, near the beach but away from the hustle and bustle, only few minutes from the city centre.
You will love this place……..come and see for yourself !
• Good energy from Mediterranean garden
• Delicious food from my Mum
• Tasty dinners after Sicilian cooking class with my brother Stefano
• Revitalizing Shiatsu massage at sunset by the pool
• Pleasant strolls in the green and amazing Sicily within short distance from home ..........and all very seasoned with lots of sunbath, pool and sea swimming and bike rides, never forgetting a tour of the beauty of Palermo, rich in brightly coloured Arab markets and amazing churches and ancient buildings.
Wonderful holiday: "We had a great first trip to Sicily with our 3yr old daughter, it's an amazing country but Silvia's house makes it all the more so. Lovely pool and beautiful garden, house has everything you need. And Silvia isvery friendly, providing advice of where to go and what to do, and delicious home-made food made by her Mum! The house is one minute by car from a big Carrefour supermarket, 10mins to Mondello beach and 20mins by car into Palermo. We will be back! Thank you Silvia :)

The area it was located in was perfect as it was close to shops, bus stops and an amazing beach. The owner was welcoming and helpful. I stayed here with my husband, daughter and her 15 month baby.
The only asset to this property is the pool and garden. Even at that, the owner Sylvia was constantly telling us all the things we couldn't do!
The accommodation is small and uncomfortable. we had to pay separately for the air con which was set at a temperature that we couldn't alter. The air con is only in the bedroom which means the other room (kitchen/bed recess) is always hot and sticky.
Sylvia wouldn't get a baby cot for us which meant the baby had to sleep in the bed with his mum.
We stayed in Sicily for one month and this was our first rental. We do not get a good impression of the Island. Sylvia wanted money for everything..lifts to the airport, mini bar in the fridge, etc.
Even the beach at Mondello was filthy!
Fortunately as our travels progressed our future hosts and accommodations were superb and we left Sicily happy with our holiday. Our experience with this rental was the only sour fruit!
Silvia is a terrific hostess and speaks excellent English. Villa perfect for two adults. Beautiful enclosed garden and a pool that stayed a lovely temperature whatever the time! Bus to Palermo or Mondello within easy walking distance but, should you wish to explore further (Erice recommended), a car is essential. Although no restaurants within easy walking distance, Carrefor supermarket is at the end of the road! Loved evening meals/drinks on back patio but mosquito coils suggested! Recommended.
We arrived at the end of September for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment. Just the right size for the two of us, well equipped and with a fantastic sun terrace and gorgeous pool and garden. Our holiday got off to a great start as we'd ordered a home cooked meal from Silvia's mother which was absolutely superb. Would definitely stay here again - although would brave the roads on the bikes which are available for guests to use, as otherwise you are a bit of a walk from Mondello centre. Silvia is lovely and a font of knowledge about the area and the island - she very generously spent some time advising us on things to do/see during our time there. Highly recommended all round.
Our holiday at the villa was very enjoyable. Sylvia was really helpful in recommending where to visit and places to eat. The villa itself was well presented. The pool was welcomed especially as we were there when the weather was in its 30s. We highly recommend mama's food and the cooking course with Stefano was a memorable experience for us both. We look forward to visiting again.
The accommodation is part of a larger villa but unlike a previous reviewer we did not find privacy a problem at all. We rarely saw or heard anyone at all during the day or night; 3 out of the 4 possible outside seating areas were private and not overlooked and the garden furniture was very comfortable with seating pads available if needed. The sun terrace at the back is shared (divided by patio plants) but I never saw anyone on it apart from Maya - Silvia’s lovely young dog. So sweet and friendly.
We spent the majority of our time rotating from the sun, to the shade, to the pool and back again to sunny spots to dry off - with a drink or a book in hand! The gardens surrounding the villa are beautiful and a credit to Sylvia and her family. Butterflies danced over flowers and dragon flies swooped down onto the pool. The pool (dimensions available on the villa description) was lovely and much bigger than many I saw whilst trying to find a suitable place to stay in Sicily.
We spent very little time indoors - except when asleep or to avoid the Sicilian mosquitoes who can be vicious as dusk falls! Take your insect repellent for the evenings and apply it liberally. The furniture inside was decent quality – just look at the photos and make your own mind up.
Silvia very kindly recommended some local restaurants which we visited and enjoyed so take her advice. If seafood is your thing there is plenty of it.
If you want to cook on holiday (we didn’t…) there is a gas hob but no oven. This wasn’t a problem for us but if you like to cook a full meal maybe you’d miss it. But to be honest with so many restaurants locally I can’t see anyone needing to roast a chicken or pop in an oven pizza.
Plenty of saucepans, cutlery, plates, bowls to use. Only 2 mugs? No dishwasher? For two people this was fine. And of course there were tea cups and expresso cups available.
As we were there for only a week we didn’t brave the bus trip to Palermo but instead went up into the hills to see the Greek temple and amphitheatre at Segusta and also to the Norman castle in Caccamo.
If you do go out and about you will be amazed and a little horrified at the rubbish problem the country faces. Too little money available for civic infrastructure it seems.
Despite this the countryside is beautiful with stunning rock formations, blue skies and sea and is surprisingly green.
Go and see for yourself
We had the most wonderful stay with Silvia this summer. The garden is a tranquil little oasis and the pool is beautifully maintained, as is the villa.
Silvia could not have been more kind or attentive, but not intrusive. She made sure we knew where all the best beaches and local amenities were and her little dog, Mia, is a delight - well behaved but so characterful!
This holiday gave us the complete relaxation we needed. Lovely!
