This stunning newly built house is in the unspoilt, peaceful village of Salir do Porto, just 5 minutes walk from the beach and the famous Salir sand dunes. Only 3 minutes drive from the lovely resort of Sao Martinho do Porto, with its crescent shaped bay. The house is in enclosed grounds with a shared swimming pool. The house is on a small condominium of 7 houses with a shared 10x4m pool.

It has 4 large bedrooms on the first floor and also a separate playroom with sofa bed, which can be used as a 5th bedroom. Part of the basement has been converted into a games room with pool table, table tennis, darts and table football, plenty to keep older kids happy for hours! Fixed internet so free WiFi for all.

There are several traditional Portuguese restaurants within 5/10 minutes walk of the house and many more in Sao Martinho at the other end of the bay....a 5 minute drive or a 25 minute saunter along the boardwalk.

The area has so much to offer with the beautiful walled city of Obidos just 15 minutes away, 3 top quality golf courses within 40 minutes drive, lovely seaside resorts, 2 waterparks and plenty of opportunity for walking, climbing, water sports. The list is endless.

Tony and I (Deb) have a freight forwarding business in the UK. We decided to buy a house abroad and chose Portugal's Silver Coast as it is relatively unspoiled and not commercialised. We chose Sao Martinho/Salir as its very safe bathing for kids, we have a girl, now 16 and boy, now 14 The people are lovely, the food & drink are cheap and the sun shines a not to like?

Why Debra Shally chose Caldas da Rainha

The house is spacious but we have tried to make it homely too. I thought of all the things I have liked when I stayed in holiday places and made sure we had them, e.g lots of games, DVDs etc. Also free WiFi which keeps the teenagers happy and UK TV too. We also have a games room with pool, table tennis, table football and an exercise bike too. There are 3 adult and 1 child's bike which you are welcome to use, we hope to buy a 4th adult bike in May 2017. Although there are 7 houses in total on the condominium, only 3 are rented out so the pool is not used very much by other people. We are usually the only ones in it when we are there.

Salir has a lovely village feel and there are some great restaurants within walking distance. Sao Martinho is a little busier and has many more to choose from.

The beach down the road is great for kids and there are also great beaches, with and without big waves at Foz d'Arelho and Peniche. There's also the walled city at Obidos, Portugals 2nd most visited tourist attraction, 15 minutes away. It's only just over an hour to Lisbon too if you want a change of scene and about an hour and a half to Sintra with its gorgeous palaces.

Notes on accommodation: This is a very spacious, light and airy house with enough room for the largest family or group of friends. It is very child friendly with stair gates provided for all stairs. The pool is open but the terrace is completely walled so safe for little ones. The terrace is in the sun all day and is sheltered from any wind. The bedrooms are all large and have lots of storage space. In addition to the 2 double beds, 4 twin beds & sofa bed there is a also a put-me-up bed and a fold out chair bed, suitable for a child. We also have a wooden cot and a travel cot for babies. There is also central heating for the winter months. An allowance of £50 per week for heating is included in your rental, any additional cost to be met by the client. We operate a non-smoking policy in the house please. We have fixed internet so unlimited WiFi available. Outside: The condominium has shared gardens and is totally enclosed with access through a gate and electrically operated double gates for cars. The house has its own ground at the rear and a large grassed area to the side. The pool is shared by 7 houses. The pool is open from the beginning of April until the end of September. There is a paved area around the pool should you wish to move sun loungers closer to the pool although it can be seen clearly from the terrace of the house. We have a table seating 10 with 6 chairs and 4 stools all with cushions and 6 sun loungers. There is an over table parasol as the sun is on the terrace all day until the evening so you might need some shade while eating! We also have a brick barbeque so that the men can do some of the cooking! Utility Room: Washing machine and storage cupboard with parasols, beach toys, tennis rackets, football etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bed linen are provided for your stay (although not beach towels). Cleaning of the house before and after your stay is included in the rental price. For 2 week stays cleaning and change of bed linen can be arranged at a cost of 50 euros. Other: On ground floor is a large room with double sofa bed and a fold out bed for a child this can be used as a 5th bedroom or as a playroom. The basement has parking for 2 cars and also a games room with table tennis, darts, table football and a pool table..

Very spacious property, all sports, beach & other equipment there, even a bike to go birdwatching!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Plenty of space for everyone to do their own thing and also to get together. Great terrace and seating with view to the pool. Even a blow up turtle to keep you company there! There was an ongoing table tennis challenge during our stay, barbeques, eating indoors on a cold evening, and a well equipped kitchen.

Lots to do in the area we enjoyed surfing, windsurfing, swimming, jumping waves, sand dune surfing, eating out, a local festival, old towns, museum and birdwatching.

Would totally recommend the house.

Lovely spacious house. Great for families

Lovely spacious house which easily accommodated our two families. Teenagers loved the games room and we all enjoyed the swimming pool. Great book of ideas and suggestions. Too much to fit into a week! Beach was so close we could go back to collect forgotten items. Safe lagoon for children and adults to play in but not too far from the surf beach for more excitement. Had planned to eat in but close proximity of some great inexpensive restaurants meant we only lit the bbq once. The 48 flavours ice cream shop, where you bought by weight, was an instant hit with us all. Highly recommend as a base to explore the Lisbon coast. We will definitely be returning.

FAB! Been a few times & have booked again

Lovely spacious house, clean with all mod cons & everything needed for a pleasant stay for a family. We were usually the only people in the shared pool. There is a playroom with many games & toys in. There is a basement with washer/dryer & games room with table tennis & darts. Owners checked in with us to make sure everything was ok. A fab place to stay & a great base to explore the area. Loved it

Fantastic House

The house and setting was fantastic, great for 2 families sharing a holiday. It was spacious, clean and well maintained and would definitely recommend it. Everything you might want or need was there. Some great local restaurants within walking distance. Local town was great but also well located for trips to Lisbon and Obidos. Lovely pool area and terrace. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Booking Notes:
Please contact us to book and discuss any further requirements you may have. A deposit of 20% is required on booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before your holiday. We also ask for a refundable security deposit of £300, which will be returned at the end of your holiday. Cancellation Refunds: Over 8 weeks before - no refund of deposit. 4-6 weeks before 50% of cost refunded, 0-4 weeks before 25% of cost refunded. Under special circumstances we may decide to give a total refund.

Changeover Day:
We will be flexible with changeovers as flights can differ in price on days other than Saturday. In peak season we would prefer Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Out of season we will happily look at other days. Check in after 4pm, check out before 10am.

Notes on prices:
Prices are in pounds per week and are based on 6 sharing. For larger groups we charge an extra £15 per person per stay (aged 2 or over). This is purely to cover extra laundry costs. We do not charge extra for half term or Easter holidays. Short breaks are available term time only. Please contact us for prices.

  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
