Sun, swims, space, shade, sights...

...and of course food and wine!

Le Mas Savoye is well located a few minutes (downhill) from the centre of Flayosc - not a touristy village but with good restaurants and plenty of shops. It's on the edge of delightful scenery and within comfortable reach of the sights of inland Var and the Cote d'Azur. You need a car, though there are buses to Draguignan and the TGV at Les Arcs.

There are houses around, but it isn't overlooked and feels really private (there's a bit of distant traffic noise at times).

The pool is a suntrap, but there's plenty of parasols, and the extensive terraced gardens are delightful with plenty of shade and lots of space - we only used 2 of the 5 separate tables!

The house is excellently equipped, with interesting furniture, and well looked-after; the new pool house is a brilliant idea, and encouraged us to spend rather more time by the pool than we might have done.

We were there as 4 couples, and it suited us well (though one room is a twin), and we're certainly considering a repeat in a couple of years' time; it would be brilliant for 2 families too (though not for toddlers or less mobile people).

And, apart from the obvious tourist sights, the new wine co-op at the bottom of the hill is well worth a visit, especially if you plan to bring wine back home.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back one day. We do in fact have many toddlers and we provide baby and toddler equipment free of charge. There are many toys, books and puzzles for them too. The upside for toddlers too is that the shallow end of the pool is only 80cm in depth allowing them to grow with confidence. For our less mobile guests we have installed railings around all the garden steps. In the house there are hand rails up the main stairs as well as along the side of the bath.

Fantastic setting in beautiful gardens

The house and garden were perfect for our family, giving both quiet and fun areas for both adults and children. All the facilities were fantastic and the owner had clearly thought about all the little details. The pool house was so useful especially with a useable kitchen there. And only a short walk to the village with all the amenities you could want plus some good bars and restaurants. A wonderful holiday that we will definitely repeat!

A perfect family holiday

We were a party of 10 with grandparents and teenagers. We had such a relaxing and also busy time - there was something to suit everyone's temperament: relaxing on a sun bed to read by the pool or up on the terrace under the shade of the big tree or jumping in the car and driving down to the beach or up to the Gorges du Verdon. And then every day someone would walk into the village (all of 5 minutes) to get the bread, a paper, a postcard, something from the friendly chemist. The Mums would sneak a quick coffee in the village before returning home!! A very good choice of places to eat to suit all budgets. Local walks were easy and interesting and the pool occupied the teenagers brilliantly - they took over the pool house with their music and card playing!

The house itself is charming. A very well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. We would definitely come back and would recommend to friends of all ages. Thank you for a wonderful week.

We bought Le Mas Savoye because Laurent, my husband grew up in the back country of La Côte d'Azur and we have always wanted to put down some roots here. We love the proximity of the house to the village, the relaxation it gives us, the possibility to eat out without having to take the car or just be at home enjoying all our meals outside. Between the sea and Les Gorges du Verdon, the vineyards and the markets, there really is something for everyone, whether you are a toddler or a grandparent, a teenager or an overworked parent. You cannot fail to have a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

The coast, sandy beaches at Ste Maxime or St Tropez (advisable to take the ferry) are 40 minutes away.


The distance by car to Le Mas Savoye from the following airports: 1 hour from Nice. 1 hour and 40 minutes from Marseilles. 1 hour from Toulon. Les Arcs SNCF railway station is 15 mins. There are connections and links to most European cities including Paris, Brussels and London. If you are driving to Provence, it will take you: 14 hours from London. 11.5 hours from Calais. 9 hours from Paris. 12 hours from Brussels. Car Hire is available from all of the above airports and at Les Arcs railway.


350m walk to 11th century hilltop village of Flayosc. 10 minutes drive to Draguignan. 40 minutes to the Gorges du Verdun/Lac St Croix. Proximity to numerous Provençal villages. Coast 40 minutes.

Further Details:

There is a tennis club in Lorgues just a 15 minute drive from Le Mas Savoye. Golf, horse-riding, canoeing are nearby. There is an Aquapark at Ste Maxime.

Le Lac Sainte Croix and Les Gorges du Verdon offer swimming, rock climbing and sailing. There are numerous musical events during the summer with well known artists and lots of jazz. The tourist office and local newspaper have all the events. Many artists exhibit their work throughout the villages during the summer months.

Whilst the village offers ample amenities including two small supermarkets, a butcher, 2 boulangeries, a bank, a pharmacy, a wine cooperative, a petrol station, all main services are less than 10 minutes by car where you can find the hypermarkets. Each day of the week, there are markets at one of the nearby towns or villages.

The property is just two minutes from the village but remains secluded. Access from Nice airport is one hour. We offer excellent baby and toddler equipment at no extra cost. The house is our family home and feels like it. In that way it is an unusual rental.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property is enclosed by high hedging and gates and is suitable for children. Toddlers need to take care as the garden is on different levels with several connecting steps. Inside there is a large selection of board games, puzzles, books, DVDs, videos, toys, colouring. The flexibility for outdoor eating, relaxation and activities allows for individuals or smaller groups within a reasonably large group to enjoy some quiet time as well as sociable group time. A very lived-in feel, with we hope, most needs anticipated for. The rental price includes bed linen, bath,hand & swimming towels, hot water and electricity, pool and garden maintenance, gas central heating in low and out of season periods, gas for cooking and for the barbecue, firewood and the final clean at the end of your stay. Baby equipment is available at no extra cost (cots, highchairs, stair gate, changing mat, hand mixer for baby food). Outside: Floodlit 12x5m pool with pull-up polycarbonate cover in the spring and autumn - shallow end 80cm, deep end 2m. Fully fitted summer kitchen by the pool. The main terrace holds a rectangular red cedar table which seats 10 adults comfortably on 6 matching benches. It is shaded by a centurian chestnut tree and an equally ancient lime tree. A gas barbecue is available for al fresco dining. The wonderful view from this terrace extends over the hills and the village of Flayosc. The west terrace is smaller and is an ideal location for breakfast as it is cooler first thing in the morning or for dinner in the spring and autumn. It is adorned with a medlar tree and a large ornate cactus. There is a large rotational parasol for extra shade. There are children’s swing chairs from the tallest tree, a hammock, a tree house, a swing, slide, sandpit, ping pong table, badminton. The fruit and herbs from the garden are yours to pick. Cherry harvest end of May. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board, iron and plenty of shelving. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath, hand & swimming towels and bed linen are included in the price. The property is cleaned before and after your arrival and is included in the price. Other: Games room with toys, puzzles and board games for everyone.
