About the property

Cottage near Laguepie, Tarn-et-Garonne, Midi-Pyrenees - Near Lagupie Between Cordes And Najac

This pretty and beautifully restored cottage has retained its character with beamed rooms and polished wood floors. The stone walls keep it warm out of season and cool in summer. Outside there is a covered wisteria clad terrace with table to eat al fresco. Below this a sunken walled garden providing sun and shade with barbeque, table and chairs. On this level are the cellars with washing machine. Lounging chairs are provided. The hamlet is small and quiet on a minor road but only 2km from the village where there are 2 general stores, a bakers,a butchers, restaurants and bars. In summer there are fetes and markets to enjoy and river swimming nearby. It is wonderful walking country and a great base to explore this beautiful unspoiled region where birds, butterflies and orchids abound.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a lovely cottage for a fortnight’s relaxation and what a beautiful part of the world this is. We really loved the cottage. It has everything we could possibly need plus more. Idyllic setting as well – the noisiest thing was the cows.

Charming entrance, good rooms but cold and a bit damp

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at Les Noisettes for two weeks during an, apparently, unseasonably cold and wet September. Sadly, the property didn't provide the warm and cosy retreat that might have helped with this. There was a wood burning fire for which wood supplies could be provided at cost, but our attempt to light it failed dismally. Otherwise there was a portable gas heater and electric heaters for the bedrooms. On the positive side, hot water was plentiful and the shower worked well. The weather started to change on the last two days of our stay and, notwithstanding the lack of any view we began to appreciate the benefit of a covered loggia and cool patio below.

Walking in this part of Tarn et Garonne and the adjoing part of Aveyron is excellent, something for everyone including shady forest walks in high summer and the train ride to Najac is a delight (return by bike, foot or train) Laguepie is adequate as a shopping centre but it doesn't begin to make the best of its setting or architecture and restaurants are depressing - much better are available within a few miles. Like Les Noisettes, it is in need of some TLC.

gite trop isolé sans vue sur la campagne, mais calme assuré, sauf visiteurs animaliers nocturnes

  • 2 of 5
