A large well equipped lakeside "home from home" set in it's own spacious and peaceful grounds with spectacular views over the lake. Rowing boats, kayaks and fishing are all available for guests and there is a hard tennis court in the garden. There are many walking and cycling routes close to the grounds. The house has a Tourist Board 5 Star Gold Award rating and Families Welcome Award. Within easy reach of London, on the edge of Maxey village and 7 miles from Stamford and Peterborough the house holds 8 guests in four double bedrooms with the option of two fold up beds or two cots for infants. Two tents may also be erected in the grounds to accommodate extra guests with an outside shower room and toilet available. There are many cycling and walking routes close to the grounds. Local supermarkets and shops in Market Deeping, 3 miles away. Many local pubs, tourist attractions and activities within a few miles. Within easy reach of London. Two downstairs bedrooms and a bathroom are suitable for people with limited mobility but not equipped for those who are disabled. There is a large outside terrace with built-in charcoal barbecue overlooking the lake with outside furniture in the summer. Children catered for and welcome. Changeover days are Monday and Friday only and the house is available for weekly lets or shorts breaks from Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday. About the Owner

We run a family farm, together with our daughter and son-in-law, about 30 miles away from Lake Lodge. We are gradually handing over to the next generation and now have time to run Lake Lodge as a holiday home. We often visit our cabin in the grounds and enjoy meeting some of our visitors, especially our regular guests. I was born in Maxey and several of my family still live there so I visit most weeks. My husband and I enjoy doing much of the maintenance work on the house and grounds and are constantly thinking of new ways to change or improve the property.

Idyillic place to get away from it all

We stayed here as our twice per year weekends away with 3 other couples in early November. Would have loved to stay longer than the 3 nights! Everything was perfect and Lake Lodge is a great place to relax and enjoy some wonderful walks and scenery. Wildlife including herons abound and location is so tranquil. How great to create this from a family owned gravel extraction business and leave no trace of the location's previous history. Superb village pub (no food but great beer) the Blue Bell visited twice - be there by 5.30pm on Friday nights if you want a seat - and further afield we visited the Golden Pheasant at Etton on our 9 mile walk and the Blue Bell at Glinton on Saturday night. Brilliant place to chill - all 8 of us thought were sad it was only a weekend chillout. well done Maggie and co.

Absolutely beautiful

This is the second time we have been to Lake Lodge. Once again it was absolutely beautiful, we could not fault the house, location and the weather. Lake Lodge is perfect for us as we all enjoy using the boats and play tennis. The house is very clean and well maintained, the owners make you feel very welcome. I will be going back to Lake Lodge again so I would recommend this to anyone.

Fabulous Weekend Break

We chose Lake Lodge for our annual family self catering weekend away. We found it by chance whilst looking on the net and it seemed to fit the bill to a tee and it more than surpassed our expectations :-)

The property is in a beautiful spot and so quiet. The accommodation is great for families and the kitchen diner is so well equipped - ideal for self catering.

The icing on the cake is the surrounding area which is alive with bird life and provides lovely walks. Our big boys loved the fishing and we all enjoyed boating on the lake seeing the heronry, the swans, ducks and ducklings and geese.

The girls had a spa day with My Personal Sanctuary so all our needs were met and more.

Although we've never met Maggie she feels like an old friend. Her prompt responses to our queries prior to our visit and the information available at the property made the whole experience painless.

We cannot recommend this place enough and feel sure that others will enjoy any time they spend at Lake Lodge whether it is for a weekend or longer.

Fantastic home

We leave here tomorrow after celebrating New Year's holiday with friends. Well I really don't know where to start explaining what an amazing house this is. We arrived to a very welcoming home with Christmas decorations and lovely gifts from the owners. The views are fantastic, extremely calmer house. The house has everything you could possibly need or want to make your stay comfortable, it is very much home from home. The grounds are superb, what a fab way to start the day by having a walk around them. Thank you, we will definitely been back!

Wonderfull place

What a haven lovely house with fantastic views from the rooms of the lake very well equipped even down to toys for my 20 month old grandson to play with the boats for use on the lake had a wow factor for my adult children who were forever out on it the grounds are extensive and lovely to walk round we saw deer, bunnies and squirrels as well as birds entertaining us on the lake ideally situated for places to visit around Maxey would love to return in the future thank you Maggie for sharing your wonderfull home :-)

From the Owner

Lake Lodge was my family home, built by my parents in 1965 to retire to. I lived there until I married. We completely renovated it to make it suitable as a holiday let as it is in such a stunning location and ideal for a relaxing holiday. We have many repeat visitors each year who return for the peace and quiet, views and fact that the house is so well equipped.

North Norfolk coast about 60 minutes drive away.

Interesting places to visit are the historic market town of Stamford, the University City of Cambridge, Rutland Reservoir,.


Nearest railway station is Peterborough (45 minutes from London) just 7 miles away. Luton, Stansted, Birmingham and East Midlands Airports approximately one and half hours by car.


Market Deeping 3 miles. Peterborough 7 miles. Stamford 7 miles.

Further Details:

Nearest supermarkets, banks, restaurants and shops at Market Deeping. There are many local pubs in the surrounding villages. Peterborough has Queensgate Shopping Centre, Cinema, Theatre, Skating Rink, Bowling Alley, Flag Fen Bronze Age Site and Museum amongst other attractions. Burghley House Stately Home and Gardens are in the historic town of Stamford. Tallington Lakes Watersport and Dry-Ski Centre is 4 miles away. Also within easy reach are Rutland Water, Nene Valley Railway, Sacrewell Farm and Country Park as well as many other places of interest. The East of England Show and Burghley Horse Trials are held nearby.

Lake Lodge is a quiet calming oasis with wonderful views over the lake. Whatever the weather guests can either relax in the lounge or out on the patio and enjoy the scenery and wildlife on the lake and in the grounds. For those wanting activity they can step out of the house and straight into the rowing boats and kayaks which can be used all year round, play tennis on the hard tennis court or take advantage of both the footpaths in the grounds or the many local footpaths through quite countryside and along the local river and canal. Round off the day sitting on the patio sipping drinks and watching some spectacular sunsets. The house caters for all ages and is perfect for a multi-generation family get-together as well as groups of friends meeting up.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property is ideal either for a group or two families as there are two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. The second upstairs bedroom can be either a double or a twin. Children welcome but parents must be aware that the lake is unfenced. Cots, stair gates and high chairs are available. The inside of the property has been totally renovated and is a very comfortable and well equipped family home. Outside: The grounds extend over several acres with lake, gardens and woodland. Several walks are available on and near the property. There is a large terrace with outdoor furniture and a built-in charcoal barbecue overlooking the lake and an enclosed gated patio area. An enclosed hard tennis court with basket ball hoop and football goalpost is adjacent to the house. There are rowing boats, canoes and kayaks for use on the lake and it is suitable for open swimming. Carp fishing is available for experienced rods only. Life jackets are provided. Utility Room: Dishwasher, tumbler dryer, belfast sink, iron and ironing board, hoover and cleaning equipment.
