About the Owner

I moved to Rome from London in the early '50s. I soon got married. When a family was getting bigger (4 kids altogether!), we found this house under construction in a beautiful green area. We wanted our children to have a garden to play in, so we bought the apartment, which also has a swimming pool.

When the children started moving out the house was getting too big for me so I decided to divide part of it and rent it as a holiday home.

I have enjoyed welcoming and meeting some lovely people from all over the world, and will still enjoy doing so in future.

Speaks English, French, Italian, Polish

Well equipped apartment

  • 4 of 5

A very relaxing week in this apartment, situated in a quiet location. Francesca kindly arranged for a car to meet and return us to the airport and was there to welcome us at the apartment on arrival. She showed us round and had provided lots of food for us which was very welcome. Not only breakfast items but prosecco, fruit and meats and pasta. The apartment is very well equipped, there was nothing we missed. We didn't use the garden and pool due to the weather not being great in the evenings, and we had walked a lot. We used the buses all week, tho the 982 only runs every 30 mins so we had some long waits. But the stop is very convenient and has great views of St Peter's basilica. The apartment felt very secure, there is a doorman, a locked gate and door, then 2 locked doors to get into It! Plenty of hot water altho we found it a bit awkward getting out of the shower when the shower screens were across the bath, perhaps that's due to our age. Would be nice to have reclining chairs on the terrace. Thanks Francesca for an enjoyable stay.

Very nice place

  • 4 of 5

Very nice apartment, with a lovely garden and pool. Francesca was very kind and helpful - and had arranged for us to borrow a travelling bed and stroller for our youngest son.

The garden and pool are so fantastic and very needed in Rome in the middle of July! :-)

Thanks for a lovely stay

great time!

  • 5 of 5

Edda (mother) and Francesca (daughter) were both quick to respond when we had questions about booking the apt. My friend took this apt and my group had previously taken an apt near the Colosseum. We were invited to attend a cooking class given by Francesca. We arrived to the apt to find it a bit higher than the Basilica, so the area had a slight breeze - MUCH appreciated in steamy July! The apt is just as the pics show, VERY clean and comfortable, with strong air conditioning. The garden area is lovely! As for the class, you should see the generous listing of course choices that Francesca offers! We were 62-12yrs and Francesca made the class informative and fun, involving everyone. When done, we sat around the table to eat and toasted ourselves with the bottle of wine graciously left in the frig. It was a fun evening and will be a wonderful memory of our time in Rome. Because it was so much fun, we came home and purchased pasta rollers and a chitarra (look it up!) Thank you, Francesca for teaching us and becoming a friend in the process! Superb Rome Apartment!!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay when visiting Rome. We ( 2 adults, a 3 and 5yr old) had a fantastic week in Rome and Edda and Francesca's apartment was the perfect base. From the extremely generous welcome pack to the fantastic pool for a cooling dip after a day of sightseeing, everything was catered for. The apartment was spotless and is in a great location as the 982 bus, which stops at the most scenic bus stop in Rome at the end of the road, takes you into the centre of Rome in 10 mins.

The children loved coming back each day for a swim in Edda's large pool and she always made a special effort to ensure we had everything we needed. Having a taxi waiting at the airport for us saved a lot of hassle!

Thanks Edda and Francesca for helping make our week extra special. We will definitely be back.

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is amazing after a long day touring Rome it was wonderful to go back and relax in style. Edda is a wonderfully caring lady and made our stay one to remember. Upon arrival we were greeted by Edda and shown through the apartment where a generous supply of fruit and food was waiting for us. Edda was always available if we needed anything. After our plane leaving Rome was cancelled Edda and Francesca took time to help organise our paperwork for a new flight and offered another night stay. They are the most generous people we have meet in all of our traveling adventures. I would recommend this property as a must stay for anyone looking for accommodation in Rome.

Thankyou Edda and Francesca for a holiday memories that we will always cherish

Location

From the Owner

It is a beautiful residential area, very spacious and green. The Villa Doria Pamphili park is just 3 minutes down the road, but nonetheless we are only 10 minutes from the historical centre of Rome and the Vatican.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

On request you can receive Italian catered meals and cookery lessons from our professional chef also in English or French in your apartment! Separate agreements for cost of meals and lessons.

Coast/Beach:

Ostia is the popular beach for Romans, it takes only 30 mins. by train to get there from the Pyramid (Lido train terminal). You can rent an umbrella and beach-beds in any of the Stabilimenti on the beach. Many restaurants available.

Travel:

Fiumicino Airport is nearest and served by a train service which brings you in a half-hour to Trastevere Train Station or Express to Termini. From there, 15 min drive/bus to the house. Ciampino Airport 30 min drive;taxis to central Rome have fixed costs. Coaches available. Chauffeured car service available at good rates. Underground (Metro) A stop Ottaviano is near the terminal of 982 bus, which takes you to the apartment in approx. 15 m.

Distances:

The Vatican and historical centre is about 10 min. by bus (982); it also connects with other buses to the heart of Rome (Colosseum, Forum, Trevi, Navona).

Further Details:

Shops are 5 mins walk from the flat: fruit and veg, butcher, bar, grocer. Supermarket is downhill (7-8 mins walk) and a very nice daily farmers' market is 10 minute walk, on Via Gregorio VII where you can find several banks too as well as chemists. Restaurants are close by too, we will suggest the ones we appreciate. If you're not feeling like cooking but want to stay in the flat, you can order a lovely meal by the owner's daughter, professional caterer, and spend far less! If you like views, walking through the local Park to the Janiculum provides you with a stunning view over the roofs of ancient Rome.

Facilities

From the Owner

Around here, the air is much cleaner and in summer cooler than in the centre. Because we are on a hill (Colle Gelsomino - Jasmine Hill) it doesn't get as hot as other areas of Rome in the summer. It is also quiet, since there are no crowds or traffic jams. Our local bus line gets into the centre in 10 minutes and is very reliable. In fact, I never use my car when I need to go to the centre. It's much easier to hop on the bus! We offer a quiet location, yet ideal for sightseeing. In summer we offer use of our private swimming pool in our lovely large garden, which is such a blessing in a big city.
