Detached Cottage with Sea Views of Clew Bay

Updated: 27-Oct-2016
Bungalow in Murrisk, Nr. Westport, County Mayo, Ireland - Stunning Location Close to Croagh Patrick and Blue Flag Beaches

Delightfully maintained bungalow on the Mayo coastline just before the popular village of Murrisk. The setting of the bungalow is breathtaking and peaceful, whilst being within easy reach of the lively town of Westport. There is a dining pub within a 15 minute walk and a further pub offering food within a 20 minute walk. Westport itself contains many interesting shops and fine restaurants, specialising particularly in seafood and many traditional pubs, all providing a friendly ambiance. The town plays host to a variety of festivals throughout the year. Many hotels have pools and gyms open to the public. The village of Murrisk has an outstanding location between the shores of Clew Bay and the majestic mountain of Croagh Patrick, known locally as 'The Reek'. Overlooking the sea is the dramatic National Famine Monument. In the 1400s an abbey was found at Murrisk and is renowned amongst pilgrims worldwide as the starting point for the ascent of Croagh Patrick. Links are in place with a hotel in Westport for reduced price swimming. In addition a swim and dine option is available whereby the price of the swim will be taken from the cost of dining at the hotel.

About the Owner

Our holiday home is very special to us as the land it stands upon has been in our family for over 60 years. I have family living in the area and have been visiting Murrisk for over 50 years. We never tire of the outstanding views from the house and watching the colours change, often from minute to minute. It is quite breathtaking. At the same time, we benefit from being very close to all the amenities of Westport and being within a 15 minute walk of two excellent dining pubs.

Beautiful country cottage with excellent views!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here for 4 nights and loved every minute of it! The cottage was clean and comfortable. The views out of every window were incredible! Croagh Patrick is just down the road, and you can just walk across the street to Clew bay and walk around the area. It is close to everything and has ample parking. We were very satisfied with our trip to Mayo and with our lovely home away from home.

Family time

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week in Murrisk. Two sets of grandparents, son and daughter and wee grandaughter age 6. The house was very comfortable clean and spacious. We enjoyed our stay. The local walks and the pub were very close. Westport was a short drive. The house is in an excellent location. We turned the settee round to face the lounge window- wow! What a view. Many quiet hours spent there reading. We will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

From the Owner

We thoroughly enjoy the peace and tranquility afforded by the outstanding views. The colours of the bay have to be observed whatever the weather. It is equally as wonderful at night with the lights twinkling across the bay.
