About the property

Villa in St Antonin-du-Var, Var, Provence, France - Ideal For One Family Or Two Sharing

This is our much loved villa which friends have described as our 'little piece of heaven' which we have restored and furnished in Provencal style for easy living.

The Villa is not overlooked and is very peaceful. It is ideal for one family, or two sharing, but we often let to just a couple.

It has two bedrooms with double king size beds ( each with En-suites) and two bedrooms each with full size twin beds.

The swimming pool is fully tiled, heated, and 10 meters long. We have 8 loungers around the pool so everyone can have one.

There is a large table and chairs for 8 outside where you can eat overlooking a stunning view and another table under two wonderful mulberry trees which give plenty of shade so ideal for breakfast and lunch.

There are comfortable outside settees and chairs with cushions so you can relax during the day and enjoy aperitifs in the evening. We have a large Gas BBQ. There is a table tennis table where you can play under a covered abris.

St Antonin village (10 minutes walk away) has a hairdresser, an outstanding Boulangerie, a really good restaurant, two vineyards selling wine, tennis and basketball courts and an excellent shop for groceries and necessities.

Very recently someone has planted organic vegetables in a field just down the lane and sells them most mornings.

A stunning villa in an outstanding location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at La Gaillardiere for 2 amazing weeks over the summer with our 2 daughters and my parents. The layout of the villa worked perfectly and it is so well stocked and furnished you really feel like you are at home rather than in a rental property. It had everything you needed and so much more. Kevin and Jill were so helpful from the beginning and made everything very easy. The pool was amazing and the kids were happy to spend the day at the villa or go exploring. St Antonin is a lovely little hamlet with a shop, bouloungerie and restaurant, it is in a great location away from the crowds but central enough to be able to explore this stunning area. We canoed in the local river, visited local markets and villages and the Gorge du Verdon which is a must see natural wonder, We really can't recommend staying here highly enough and will definitely return. Debbie and Simon Greener (and family) from Surrey.

Wonderful family holiday villa and pool with lovely views of the Var hinterland of hills and forests

  • 5 of 5

We are an active elderly couple from Edinburgh who enjoyed a wonderful week at La Gaillardiere.with a teenage grandson and an adult daughter with a learning disability. The villa is a lovingly furnished and perfectly maintained family holiday home with a beautiful pool in the heart of the Var wine growing area; exactly as described in the website listing. It is a 20minute walk to a great little mini mart and a brilliant boulangerie in the hamlet of St Antonin-du-Var and a 15 minute drive to the charming village of Lorgues with many shops, cafes, restaurants and a fabulous Tuesday market. We greatly enjoyed table tennis, swimming, lazing by the pool, barbecues and eating on the terrace under the mulberry tree covered pergola; but also had fine restaurant meals out at La Chrissandier in Lorgues, Le Clos de Vignes in a vineyard near Cotignac and in a garden terrace of a hotel/restaurant in Le Thoronet. Communication by email and telephone with the owners of the property was easy, friendly and efficient; and Kevin went out of his way to make us feel as though we were guests and not just customers. I will have no reservations whatsoever in recommending La Gaillardiere to friends and relatives.

We had been searching for a villa which would suit the whole family of various interests and ages and must say this was absolutely perfect. We have 2 small children and also went with my parents and found the location to be the perfect combination of rural, with beautiful views overs the mountains and wonderful sporting activities, but also within a very reasonable distance of St Tropez, Port Grimaud and St Maxime.

The villa is spacious, very well equipt for cooking, BBQs etc and there was plenty of space for everyone. On arrival the villa was immaculately clean and all the bedrooms were spacious with plenty of storage and the en-suite facilities very good.

A particularly good day out was the Gorge du Verdon which is beautiful, the market at Lorgues on a Tuesday morning is a must (get there early to park!), and we spent a few days out in St Tropez. There is also a fantastic selection of local vineyards to choose from!

We enjoyed it so much we have already contacted the owner to go back next year!!

An ideal house in the Var

  • 5 of 5

La Gaillardiere is beautifully situated with stunning views and a short walk from the village which offers a good restaurant, good local wine,a useful grocer and an excellent boulangerie. The house is comfortable and well laid out and the owner is helpful and attentive. The local markets are fun(and the source of good fruit and veg) and there are a number of decent restaurants in the area-Lou Cigaloun in St Antonin is family friendly and good value. Our children greatly enjoyed the decent sized swimming pool and the riding and canoeing nearby.I would recommend this property both to families and to parties of adults.
